Provided immediate / 24 hr turnaround on asbestos testing (I chose 24 hr). I contacted RenewAir end of day Tuesday, sample was collected that evening for 24 hr testing, and removal was carried out Thursday afternoon. I was well informed of what to expect. No complaints. I only wish that all my experiences with home reno projects could be as simple and straight forward as this one. Highly recommended.

This company's biggest shortcoming is their lack of accountability to fix issues when things go wrong. You'll notice in a lot of their responses to bad reviews here or homestars), they offer hollow assurances to take issues offline or they finger-point and call out users for "fake reviews" - not a whole lot of integrity in that, is there? In 2017, we had a new storm door installed and 3 basement windows replaced and we were very happy with our experience. However in March of 2021, the storm door pump bracket ripped out of the door frame. When we called Clera to see if it would be covered under warranty, we were told that the issue was due to water damage to the frame and they would not cover the cost of the repair. Clera agreed that there was water damage in our door frame that could only have existed prior to the storm door install. This shouldn't be left up to the homeowners to determine - we are NOT professionals in this trade. At one point, they tried to imply that maybe the water damage occurred after install, but they quickly retracted that theory when we suggested that it meant the storm door was of poor quality if it didn't protect our door frame from water damage. Our front door never had a storm door or awning to protect it from the elements. If the installer didn't consider this to be a potential issue for our wood door frame, it tells me that Clera willingly works with negligent installers who do sub-par work. While we felt that we shouldn't be responsible for the repair bill, we were willing to accept a fair compromise at $100 for the repair, to which they refused. Our experience tells the story of a company with a lack of integrity who operates on unethical practices. If you are like us, you will want to give money to companies who stand by their work and make things right when they go wrong. We've worked with other companies on home renovation projects and paid extra money at the advice of the professionals to ensure things were done properly. And when things went wrong, these companies came back to fix the issues. Unfortunately, Clera is not that company. Proceed with extreme caution! UPDATE: Soon after posting a negative review on Homestars, Clera agreed to fix the screen door at a discounted rate, if we agreed to take an earlier review down. They were willing to go as low as $100 to send someone for the repair. We agreed to pay the $100 dollars in advance and were told we would be contacted by the installer directly. After quite a bit of chasing, an installer finally contacted us three months later to schedule the repair. When the installer arrived, he made no effort to contact us. Instead, he quickly did his work and left. A wooden block was screwed over the existing frame. To make matters worse, the door only opens half-way. I contacted Clera who confirmed they considered the door fixed, knowing that the door was not functioning. I essentially spent $100 to wait 3 months for a few screws, a wooden block, and a fix that now prevents my door from opening properly. We continued to go back-and-forth with Clera. The installer pointed out that the door was not installed properly, but wouldnt believe that the error was made by Clera. The installer accused me of tampering with the door. This further validates what weve been trying to get through to Clera - The storm door was not properly installed. We got our $100 refunded, but the time we spent arguing and chasing these people, well never get back. Terrible experience. FINAL UPDATE: it is now November 2022, the storm door needs to be replaced. The door will not shut properly and the retractable screen will not open. At this point, I'll cut my losses and find a company that stand behind their products and services to replace my storm door.

Updated March 25th,

Hi Boed Frost,

I have been authorized by management to provide you the service for $100. as per your review request. Kindly contact me if you wish to proceed.

Hello BoedFrost,

We thank you for your feedback and we are sorry about your door troubles. Clera, has a very competitive warranty in the industry and we stand behind it 100%. As per our conversations and several e-mails, we were clear that your issue was not caused by any fault of ours and it will not be covered under the warranty. We would have happily covered the cost if it was our fault. After speaking with the installer that installed your storm door, he informed me that this was not an installation issue and one of many reasons is that it could have been caused by a strong wind if the door was left open. As per the terms and conditions of your signed contract, there is a mandatory labour fee for service after two years of installation date and this is applicable to all customer’s unless otherwise specified on their contracts. Costs for non-warranty services as such are determined by the type of service provided, materials used and time spend to complete the service. The service to correct the issue was offered to you at the cost of $250 + tax . which is a minimal amount if you were to hire an independent contractor.
Please let us know if you wish to proceed with the service.

We wish you the best!

We hired John in early September to help us finalize some of the last few minor fixes and upgrades on the main floor of our home, which we had been putting off for some time. He patched and painted a ceiling for us; repositioned our powder room vanity; upgraded the baseboards in our dining and living rooms; updated some steps leading into our dining and living rooms w/ laminate/bullnosing; patched up some smaller holes in our walls and repaired/replaced rotting wood fromour front doorframe. Every day we would come home to see significant progress in the work he'd done and he worked so neatly that you'd forget someone was in the house at all. All of furniture was placed back in their original spots and all of his tools and material were neatly gathered in one space. The quality of his work is great - we are sooo happy with all of the work he did - you'd never guess there was ever patchwork done on our drywall and ceilings and we are thrilled with how beautifully our baseboards and bullnosing turned out. Most importantly he is a GREAT GUY! When we invite someone into our personal space, it's important to us that we feel we can trust them. John is professional, personable and has a great sense of humour. We had a great feeling about him the moment we met him and we certainly felt at ease with him in our home. My husband and I are so happy to have found John on Homestars. He was a pleasure to work with and we will most certainly contact him for future projects.

I found Metro Chimney via homestars and opted to go with this company based on favourable reviews. Chris and his son were a pleasure to work with. He inspected our fireplace for us and provided us with some basic 101 on how to safely use our fireplace. He was polite, friendly and very tidy with his work. I would highly recommend Metro chimney.

This is our second experience with GasGuys. We first dealt with George for our gas range install. In both our experiences with George he was on-time, professional, was able to answer our questions and spent the time to ensure we knew how to operate the gas appliances. Highly recommended.

I would not hesitate to recommend Milorad to anyone. He is a true professional and gentleman. His first priority is making his clients happy. We originally called Milorad for a quote for floor tile in our kitchen, tiling in a bathroom and a backsplash. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we weren't able to afford the tiling job. We were so impressed by him that we knew we would save a tiling job for him in the future. About 2 months after he provided the original quote, we came into some money and called him immediately. It was just before Christmas and even though he wasn't taking anymore jobs, Milorad rearranged his schedule to accommodate us since he had given us a quote previously. Our backsplash was up in 1 1/2 days, before Christmas as he promised! He did a phenomenal job. I sometimes catch myself standing in my kitchen, admiring our beautiful new backsplash. Don't hesitate to hire Milorad for your tiling needs. You will not be disappointed!!! Thanks Milorad for your work! We can't wait to work with you again in the future for our bathroom tiling job!

During our kitchen renovation, it was suspected (and later confirmed) that we had asbestos in the original tile laid in the kitchen/foyer/powder room. We called Robert to assist us with the removal. His guys arrived and finished the job on time. They stepped me through every inch of the process and made sure I understood. Robert followed up with me to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Finding mold/asbestos certainly adds to the stress of any home renovation. My experience with Templar made this (the asbestos removal) one of the easiest and less stressful tasks in our home renovation so far. I'd like to thank Robert and his team for their great work!
