We used Miracle Movers for two moves in summer 2019, to empty a small storage locker, and for a large 4-bedroom house move. The booking process was thorough, deposit done via Interac, and the movers were on-time, efficient, and worked hard. I booked a move online, and communicated over email to arrange everything. Danika always replied promptly, and gave very detailed instructions. The rates, included/excluded services, billing details, etc. were spelled out clearly. They ask you to specify how many boxes, and to take photographs of the larger items. In July 2019, we had some of our possessions in a 10'x10' storage locker while our house was being sold. We hired two movers for the middle of the month, on a weekday, to take the items from an Apple Self Storage to our new house. On the appointed day, they called to say they would be 15 minutes late due to traffic. Chris and a partner emptied the locker in only 45 minutes, and they were careful to protect the glass-top desk that was disassembled. Flat fee was $110 and $79/hr with 2 hr minimum. Later that summer, we hired MM again for our 4-bedroom house move. In my count, we had about 100 boxes, half of which were 1.5-cubes, and the rest 2- or 5-cubes. We had no appliances to bring, but had beds, dressers, patio set, and a sleeper couch. This time, we needed 3 movers, and it was the first week of the month, so the rate was $150 flat, and $150/hr. At 09:00 on move day, Max, Roman, and one other guy came and assessed what should be moved first. We quickly discovered that our IKEA Expedit (Kallax) shelving units would not fit up the stairs. Unfortunately, some of the screws had been stripped, so we weren't able to disassemble one of them, despite some creative attempts by the movers. In the end, we had to break it down. At the new house, I directed the movers as to where everything should go: upstairs, main floor, basement, or garage. Everything went pretty quickly, as they were able to get a ramp directly from the truck onto our porch, bypassing the stairs. One big item, the American Leather sleeper couch, was incredibly heavy and awkward. It took all three men to move it in a herculean effort. They took a short break in the middle, to have some lunch I bought, but otherwise worked non stop. From start to finish, it took 9 hours for our move. The crew worked very very hard, on a hot summer day, got along with each other, and joked with me throughout. Some pro-tips: - Book 3-4 weeks in advance to ensure you get your date. - If possible, don't book on the first or last week of the month, as that's more expensive. - Offer the crew water/juice especially in summer. - For longer moves, it's nice to provide lunch, but be creative: they're bored of pizza! Ask them what they want. - They're lifting heavy things non-stop for hours, so be sure to tip.

We had our kitchen remodelled in the fall of 2019, and Max Space helped with the design, coordination, mapping, fabrication, installation, and maintenance of our countertops. In August 2019, our designer put us in touch with Luna and Tony. Once we had identified the stone we wanted (a beautiful blue Azul Macaúbas quartzite from Marble Trend), Luna went there with our designer and my wife, to discuss how to work with the massive slabs, each around 10 feet by 6 feet. Luna was brilliant at helping us maximize every last bit of our stone and worked with us to draw and re-draw various configurations to ensure we were getting maximum value from our stone. Max Space coordinated the transport of the stone from the supplier to their workshop. In August 2019, our designer put us in touch with Luna and Tony. Luna was brilliant at helping us maximize every last bit of our stone and worked with us to draw and re-draw various configurations to ensure we were getting maximum value from our stone. Max Space coordinated the transport of the stone from the supplier to their workshop. Once our cabinetry was installed in early September, Max Space sent Thouk to take accurate measurements. This involved using a laser to ensure cabinets were absolutely level, and then tracing the shape of the cabinet tops. This step is crucial, because cabinets are not always perfectly aligned with the line of the wall. In all, our project had a 10-foot island, L-shaped kitchen counters, a long credenza, a side cabinet, and front hall drawers. Luna helped to re-map where each of the pieces would be cut from the stone slabs. For aesthetic reasons, you want to align the veins in one direction, and try to book-match pieces that meet at a seam. There was a difference between our initial drawings and the built cabinets, so Luna had to revise the original mapping. Max Space needed about 10 days to fabricate. We went with a simple polished edge profile, with no built-up edges. On the day of installation, Thouk and an assistant lugged in all the quartzite slabs, and did a few final cuts and polishing on-site. They left the kitchen pretty clean, doing the grinding work outside on our front lawn. With one of the leftover cutouts, Max Space made us a heavy cheese board. With another leftover piece, for an additional $400, they cut a small oval so we could make a coffee table (we had Style Garage make us a hot-rolled steel base). About a month later, we noticed some oil and water rings on our beautiful stone. Although quartzite is somewhat porous, we did not expect a brand new countertop to suffer from stains. After getting in touch with a few repair companies, they suggested we contact the fabricator. Max Space confirmed that they had already applied a sealant, but sent someone out again to re-seal our countertops. We’ve had no problems since, and apply a store-bought stone sealer twice a year to maintain the surface. All in all, Max Space was excellent to work with, very responsive to our inquiries, and took care to make sure everything was fabricated and installed correctly.

I ordered a world map wallpaper from MuralsWallpaper, a company based in the UK. It was very expensive and large (13 feet by 7 feet, or, 4.1 metres by 2.4 metres). It definitely wasn't something I could install on my own, having never done wallpaper before. In Oct 2019, I got a number of different quotes from highly rated installers, some with their own TV shows! Vlad was responsive to my messages, and his quote included primer and adhesive. He wasn't available for 3 weeks, but I didn't have a deadline. We re-confirmed the price and timing a few days before. Vlad showed up on time with his tools, and started work right away. The wallpaper I ordered was custom printed on a really long roll of paper, so the first step was to cut each panel to size. Because the design was a map, it was important that each piece was precisely aligned. You can see the perfect job that he did from the closeup photos, where the seam is nearly invisible. I'm extremely happy with the job Vlad did, and my son is thrilled with the result. If I ever need to cover more walls in my home with wallpaper, I'd definitely give him a call again.
