In 2012 I hired Rick to install and stain my hardwood floor. First Rick sounded a nice contractor saying he is doing the job. After he got the deposit, he show up with a three young people (one of them his son) instructing them how to do the job. When I checked the job the young people were doing, I was surprised to find out lots of problems like: no waxed paper, over 13 inches between nails, no visual checking of defect material, big gaps between hardwood and stairs, more than 3/8 of inch level difference between hardwood and stairs nosing. I called Rick a few times and he showed up after a few days. Rick noticed the bad job, and , when he realized got more money from deposit than the job done, he walked away from job without finishing the installation.

Do not pay any money up front. Make sure the person who close the deal, is the same who does the job

Company Response

As a matter of fact, deposit was 2500 hundred dollars and we actually did more work than the amount collected...All people have to do is read your review of the home builder, and they will come to realize that you were impossible to work with...we actually walked of the job... costing my company time and money !!!

In 2011, I signed a contract with Ron from Legend Homes Oakville to build a custom home in 10 months. The build was to start in August 2011 and be completed by May 2012. Six months later (January 2012) the house was still in the framing stage. I discovered that the trades did not want to work because Legend Homes Oakville failed to pay my money to them (approximate $70k). In February 2012, I asked Legend Homes Oakville for proof of payments as per our contract. They refused and abandoned the project. In addition, I noticed that they were playing with the 10% holdback by releasing it on every invoice (which is wrong!!). Also, starting with excavation, foundation and framing they made lots of mistakes and tried to charge me for them. In conclusion, dealing with them was a nightmare and I advise everybody NOT to use them. If someone is currently doing business with Legend Homes, I hope you have a very good construction lawyer assisting you! By the way, I had to correct all their mistakes and finish the house with other people and it looks outstanding.

Approximate cost of services:
$950,000.00

Be assisted by a very good lawyer that specializes in construction. Believe me, it's worth every penny.
