I contacted several companies in March to replace my backyard fence and was initially impressed with Abduls professionalism, quick responses, and knowledge so I decided to go with Lawn and Lawn Landscape and Renovations for our new fence project. The 140 feet fence was completed within a week, however, workmanship was quite poor which required a few return visits to address issues such as loose pickets, sagging gate, loose fence rails. A few weeks later, a minor windstorm had completely knocked off one of the fence panels! This is a brand new fence thats less than one month old! It should have been able to withstand the 50km winds! Upon further inspection I noticed a slew of other problems: Incorrect nail length used to secure main 2X4 rails to posts. 2 inch nails were used as opposed to the appropriate 3.5 standard. The rails are already pulling away from the post and are affecting the structural integrity of the fence. Posts were not set straight/plum. Putting a 3 foot level against the post showed that it was off by more than one bubble from centre. Some of the 2X4 rails have a considerable amount of warping caused by a combination of the wood drying and not being installed crown-side down. Fence gate was not built square and the lack of a diagonal cross brace has caused it to sag. Posts were not cut straight at the top for the final finish and as a result, the majority of the post caps are lopsided. During the quote and consultation, Abdul sounded quite knowledgeable and I was expecting good work to be carried out. However, when the build began he was not on the jobsite to supervise/check the work of his inexperienced crew. I have given Abdul multiple opportunities to make it right, but since he has my money now, hes shown that these problems are no longer his concern by ignoring my texts and calls! Heres a timeline of the project and the communication, or should I say, the lack thereof, between us. May 5 - Work on the fence started on May 5 and was completed on May 11. May 20 21 - noticed some of the posts were not straight and texted Abdul to come back and take a look. No response. The next day one of the 2x4 rails became dislodged after the first windstorm and I took a picture and texted to Abdul (pic 1). No response. May 27 Followed up and let Abdul know that the gate they built is already sagging and that some fence panels are not properly secured. Abdul said he will send someone on May 29 to correct. May 29 was a no show and no contact. June 1 - 5 Texted Abdul again to follow-up. He committed to coming on June 5. Came back and fixed the gate, nailed in loose panels and claim the post cannot be fixed but if the fence falls they will come back to fix it. June 18 fence panel dislodged from the post after another windstorm (pic 2). Nightmare starts. Numerous areas where the nail used to secure the 2x4 rails to the post has pulled out from the post because its too short. Contacted Abdul numerous times, and they committed twice to come back but both times were no shows. He is no longer responding nor receiving our calls. My yard was left with nails scattered around, workers were stepping on my plants while they worked and they also left the soil that was displaced by the new post holes on the lawn and flower beds. Those are all fine, I can deal with those. But not coming to fix a poorly installed fence, rendering it unsafe for my children to be around is unacceptable. This fence cost me $10,000 and didnt even last 5 weeks!

Approximate cost of services:
