Do NOT purchase from this company. Check the Ministry of Consumer Services - it lists this company as one to BEWARE of - unfortunately I did not check the website - lesson learned. Our new a/c installed on Oct. 23, 2007 failed on first startup in May of 2008 - the problem was only resolved on July 8/08 after having several of their people supposedly "fix" the problem. The problem on my unit was due to INSTALLATION ERROR. Heating Plus technician installed a regulating valve on the inside of the a/c unit that should have been installed on the outside of the unit. This resulted in the coil freezing and water damage to my basement wall, furniture and carpeting. Poor workmanship is the key here. The kicker is that every time I called them to fix their problem they BLAMED me, the home owner - when it was all their FAULT. This husband and wife operation is small and are only concerned about installation of new units which means income for them. Servicing their faulty work and equipment is not a high priority for this company. If you choose to use them and their incompetent staff - ask to see their trade licence BEFORE they start the job. You will be sorry if you don't. Don't trust their workmanship and as for service - that's a laugh. We are more than happy to speak with anyone about this experience from HELL.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Do the job RIGHT the FIRST time. Have LICENCED people perform the tasks they are licenced to perform. Provide 24 hour service as they promise on their Total Comfort warranty. Answer their phone when you call. Respond in a timely manner - not 48 hours after the initial call or not at all. Service the equipment
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Do NOT purchase from this company if you want good service and safe installation of your equipment. You are taking a chance having them install equipment in your home. Their workers are using your homes as their training centres - so be very, very careful. If only I had done my research before I engaged them to perform the job. I have certainly learned from the experience and will NEVER use this company again. Do your research because if you use this company there is no one there to support you - not the TSSA and not the Ministry. Your only viable option will be to sue them in order to get your money's worth.

Company Response

We searched our data base ( we have over 1000 clients on file) to try to put a name and or address to this as well as the 2 other negative reviews recently posted, we could not locate you as a customer, which leads us to believe that the three negative reviews were posted by a disgruntled exemployee of Heating Plus,This was our suspicion from the start but we wanted to check our files and make sure that we didn't drop the ball on these people, when no such customers emerged, and the fact that all 3 reviews were posted within one week of each other, all with the same score we came to the conclusion that this is an exemployee recently fired during this time period, trying to get back at us. While we continue to speak highly of homestars and it's site, the screening process does not take much to pass inorder to post a negative review, all you need is some blank invoices /proposals (which this exemployee still has )send them to Homestars and say whatever you wish, I believe we have an outstanding record and not all of our reviews are 100% , which is what makes this a good site for homeowners, if you read previous reviews you will see that clients of ours have had problems but those problems were rectified each and every time.So we encourage you to read our past posts and not make a decision based on this exemployee's attempt to strike back at us!”
