I originally hired Crown Cornice to do my house in Milton about 2 years ago and the work and price were good. Had a good experience which is why I called them back to do my second house last month. Each job to date was approx. $2500.00 which was a fair price for the work being completed. In the second home we decided to leave a few of the rooms without crown moulding until a later date which was discussed with Frank to which the reply was "no problem". Fast forward to this week where he is now demanding we give him more money and work than is required just to complete the remaining spaces. As a repeat existing customer I am shocked by the level of dishonesty and shadiness that I've been shown. I can completely understand if it was an outside company coming in to complete the job of another contractor but this is not the case. We have 3 more homes closing this year and will NOT be calling Crown Cornice for these jobs. I have contacted their competitor and the job will be completed without the "minimum required footage". It's all about maximizing the sale with Crown Cornice, there are much better deals and ethical people to work with if you shop around.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,000.00

Company Response

Christian from Milton,
We at CrownCornice would like to thank you for your feedback and would like to take this opportunity to clarify what seems to be a misunderstanding of our long standing company policy. We have always expressed that it is more advantageous for any customer to have more work completed in one day as there are higher costs associated with return visits. It is due to these associated costs that it has been a company policy for 10 years that all installations need to meet a minimum of 150 ft for installation. As a previous customer we were trying to accommodate your request of only 60 ft by working out a reasonable discount based on the work requested. Unfortunately, we cannot apply the same the discounted volume rate you had received in the past as that was based on the large quantity of moulding being installed in one day. Therefore, this is not feasible for the footage requested and is therefore not applicable due to the increased costs for a return visit. This obviously upset you and we are sorry you feel that we have been "dishonest or shady" but we would have quoted based on your footage not based on previous large installations. Areas of your home that were not included in the last installation were "not a problem" as long as they met our minimum quantity of 150ft not the 60ft you originally requested. We have never hidden that information with any customer.

Since we have only just received your request approximately 1 day ago, we have not yet been given the opportunity to provide you with a quote for this work and as such are concerned with your statement “he is now demanding we give him more money and work than is required". Furthermore, public slandering our company because you do not agree with a price (as per your text messages stating you would make it your goal that we would never work in Milton again) is also very concerning as we have yet to even provide the pricing to you and we feel this does not warrant bad reviews.

As you mentioned above, we have provided you with quality service on two separate occasions and provided you with a fair price on both occasions. At CrownCornice we pride ourselves on our level of quality of our product, service and our installations. We were the first to provide a 10 year warranty on all installs showing that we stand behind our product and our installations. Providing us with a "0" rating seems unjust considering you were very happy in the past.
