A large damaged and dying tree in our back garden had to be removed. Several tree service companies selected from Home Stars' list came to check out the the old White Oak, with a trunk diameter of 1.1 meters and limbs that extended across five adjacent properties, all with limited access. Based on meeting the arborists and the quotes received, Dion Hudson and his Hudson Tree Services company were awarded the contract, including application to the city for permission to take down the tree. The job was completed over three days, with the removal of the huge amount of wood. Dion and his two crew are All Stars, assessing each situation as it came up, swinging sections of limbs across fences to safe lowering areas and precisely dropping large chunks of wood to the ground. Excepting that we have no more large trees, we would certainly not hesitate to recommend and call upon Dion if needed.

We had a water backup from the basement floor drain, which was our own waste water. I wanted to know if the blockage was on our property or on the city side of the sewer line, so I phoned DrainWorks for a camera inspection. We had a good experience with the company a few years ago when they replaced the outside trap on our line. The DrainWorks serviceman arrived quite soon after our call in the morning. The inspection quickly showed the drain on our property was clear, but there was a large tree root growing in the city line going out to the street. At the same time, the camera probe dislodged some material causing the immediate blockage, and our drain quickly emptied. I later phoned the Toronto water department to have the root blockage cleared out, which was done the next morning. The line had been more than half blocked. As I already had the camera inspection from DrainWorks, I could convince the city that the blockage was on its side of the line, I had a quicker response than on other occasions. I have not had a lot of need for plumbers, but next time I do, I will most certainly call on DrainWorks again.

Response was prompt from our morning call that our sewer line was backed up. Mike arrived and plunged the trap and got it flowing again. We discussed our need to have the trap replaced with a straight-through connection to stop this recurring problem. He stated the price which we agreed to and set the excavation for the following morning. The replacement was done quickly and the ground cleaned up with new topsoil over the dig area. We were totally impressed. A camera inspection showed the line under the house was clear, and that we should follow up with the City regarding roots in the city line to the street. Everything Mike and his crew did was carried out as he had told us and written in the contract. DrainWorks heads our list for any future needs for plumbing and drain work. It is among the best of the many contractors we have hired.
