I called DrainRescue (Toronto plumbing company) to investigate a leak coming from the bottom of a basement pillar. They came, opened up the pillar and found a large crack in the drain pipe of my two story house. I was quoted $600 to repair the section of the cracked pipe and was quoted (verbally) $1,100-$1,200 to replace the entire pipe. We made a decision and paid a deposit to replace the whole drain pipe based on the information were given. The next day, the same plumber and another plumber from DrainRescue came to start work on the repair and told me it would now cost $3,400 to replace the drainpipe. I have a wife and two year child and was left in a vulnerable position since we had a flood, no bath and now an exposed wall. Because of this terrible position I was in, I went ahead and agreed to have them start the work that day (my mistake). DrainRescue either deliberately took advantage of the vulnerable position I was in or employ incompetent people who don’t know what they’re talking about. Beware of the tactics or incompetency of DrainRescue.

Company Response

We did not take advantage of this customer. We have a set Price Book that all of our technicians follow. We DO NOT make up our prices on the spot; we:
- Refer to the prices in our Price Book
- Show the cusotmers the price in our Price Book
- Write up an invoice STATING the PRICE and WORK INVOLVED
- Have the customer sign off on the work they are agreeing to

We stand by our prices, and would like to let everyone reading this know that there is too sides to every story, and we are an HONEST and RELIABLE company that strives to provide competitive prices and quality service to our customers.

I hired L & M Aluminium (Sonny) to do the siding for my renovation project. Sonny is quite the sweet talker but his true colours came through when he absolutely berated and belittled his employee in front of me and a friend of mine...it was very embarrassing. In addition, the same employee complained to me on a daily basis how Sonny doesn't care about his safety since he made him climb 30 ft. ladders while resting on the snow and ice in the middle of winter. The job wasn't completed in it's entirety as a piece was missing and some of the siding was uneven. When I asked Sonny to come by to complete and correct the work he said he would but never did.

When I purchased the furnace from Heating Plus, they were very helpful because they wanted to make a sale. The installation went ok, or so I thought. When it came to using the air conditioning in the summer, it turned out they never connected the overflow hose to the condesate pump. As a result, the water flooded my basement and ruined my carpet. They worst part is that after I contacted them, they never came to service the problem. They said they couldn't locate a service technician (???). In the end, I contacted another company who came out the next day and solved the problem. I had to pay $135. This is the reponse I received from Heating Plus when I told them of the review I was posting... Re: Heating Plus Reviews Thursday, August 6, 2009 3:13 PM From: "paul walters" <heatingplus> To: "David Modlin" <djmodlin> You can go to _ _ _ _, the overflow was connected, you are an _ _ _- _ _ _ _!, we installed a furnace not an A/C.

We hired this 'contractor' to do our renovation and it was a terrible result. Do yourself a favour, find another contractor. My family was terribly inconvenienced and my house suffered. Next time I will move than risk going through another renovation like this.
