My Philips dryer/washer combo stopped allowing water to enter the machine - the dryer was still working and the timer allowed the machine to spin but when it called for water (like at the beginning of any cycle) ... well, nothing doing. I'm a handy guy and I've repaired washers and dryers before, using how-to books or Google searches. So I checked, the water inlet hoses (clogs are a frequent problem). The hoses were fine. After that, it gets more difficult and we were leaving for New York the very next day - it could have been the inlet valve or the timer itself. Both require a lot of disassembly and checking with a volt / ohmeter. I could do that but was running out of time. I called ABC Appliance Repair. Vlad called me back (he was highly, highly rated on Homestars). And then he arrived ... what a guy! A real Russian character with a big smile! In a few minutes he had discovered that it was blown fuse, NOT any of the major components mentioned above. Presto - he replaced the fuse and the washer sprung back to life. It would have been just as easy for him to dishonestly claim that it was a major part and charge me hundreds. No...just a simple fuse. This guy is a gem and unique in today's world. If your appliances are giving you headaches call Vlad.
