I had been working on developing about half of my unfinished basement and was trying to do as much of the work on my own as I could, and was trying to keep the costs down as much as I could. I put a posting on HomeStars to get a quote for drywall installation since I wasn't confident in my abilities for drywall installation, mudding, and taping. Shawn from SB Interior Renovations came to provide an estimate. While looking at reviews of Shawn's previous work, I saw that he had done quite a bit of full basement renovations. His drywall quote was very reasonable and I asked him to then provide a quote to complete the remainder of the work. That involved hanging doors, installing trim and baseboards, installing the flooring, installing tiles for the bathroom and wet bar as well as installing some cupboards. Again, Shawn's quote was quite reasonable and I decided to hire Shawn to complete the project for me. I am so very glad that I did! Shawn completed the project much faster than I could have, and did a much better job than I could have too. He was even able to correct and/or work around any errors I had made with the framing, and overall made the project look great. On top of that, Shawn is a good guy who really wanted to ensure that everything met and exceeded my expectations. He has great family values and that good character shines through in the effort that he puts forward. I wish that I had found Shawn earlier in my project as the work would have been done better and faster and I know his charge would have been overall within my budget. Thanks Shawn for helping me to realize the vision I had for my basement reno!

I hired Odin plumbing and heating to do some duct work for my basement reno, and am very happy I did! Zac responded very quickly to the service request I posted on Homestars. David then came out and provided an estimate that was very reasonable, and gave me some great advice on where and how many ducts I will need to add for my basement. I really appreciated the genuine care and understanding of my project. As a DIYer, my progress was quite slow, but Odin was able to accommodate my schedule without any issue. When David came to do the installation, he worked quickly, and efficiently, and did a great job. Once the drywall was installed and painting was complete, Zac came to install the registers and cold air grills. The entire process from start to finish was easy, they are great to work with, and now the air circulation in my basement is noticeably improved. I definitely recommend them!

Jason, Colin and the team from Western Insulations did a great job insulating the exterior walls and ceiling in my basement. When I started this project I thought I would be using rock wool insulation on the exterior walls and Safe and Sound for the ceiling. Jason responded to my service request on HomeStars and asked if I would consider cellulose insulation, which I was not familiar with. I asked him to come out and tell me about cellulose and to provide an estimate. Jason was able to clearly explain why cellulose was the best choice for my basement. His product knowledge is excellent and he was honest in his assessment of areas where batt insulation is better and others where cellulose is best. Jason provided a written estimate on the spot for me which was for a reasonable price. On the day of installation, Jason and Colin (the company owners) arrived on time and their professionalism was on display the entire time they worked to complete the project. The installation went well and it looks great! The product fills all the cavities of the walls and ceiling in a way that batt insulation could not do, and you can feel how dense and tightly packed the cellulose is in the walls. The change in the warmth and the acoustics is night and day compared to how it was before. I am only developing half of my basement and you can sure feel the difference walking between the unfinished portion to the insulated half of the basement. Working with Western Insulations was a pleasure from the first contact to the completion of the project and I highly recommend them!

I am very happy with the service provided by Turning Leaf. I had two large spruce trees in my back yard that we needed to have cut down. It was a complicated project due to the size and height of the trees, the overhead wires in my yard (we live in an older neighbourhood), and the proximity to the house, deck and fence. Blaine and his crew handled the project like the professionals that they are. They understood our needs, were careful with our property and cut the trees exactly to our specifications. As has been mentioned in several other reviews, Blaine is a very caring and compassionate person, and that attitude extends to his crew as well. Blaine's estimate was fair and reasonable, the work was done on time and as promised, and the crew did a thorourgh clean up of the job site afterwards. I have no hesitation in recommending Turning Leaf Tree Services! I will have them back soon to prune some of the other trees on my property.

I had a great experience with Rocky Mountain Plumbing and Drain Cleaning. From the first meeting and estimate with Ben to the completion of the project with Curtis, Jacob and Kevin, they were professional, courteous, knowledgeable and skilled. I appreciated that the estimate was clearly broken down detailing the work to be done and the pricing was clear and fair. Once the project started, they communicated clearly what they were doing, asked for my input, and there were no surprise or hidden charges. When the project was complete they left the space clean and tidy. I highly recommend them!

We had a great experience with Yard Dawgs on a major transformation of our front and back yards. We had our own designs we'd drawn out and they were able to stay true to those designs but also came forward with a lot of great ideas too. We'd had a few other estimates and Yard Dawgs were very competitively priced. More than that though, they won us over with their enthusiasm and integrity. Don't be worried that they are too young, these are experienced, knowledgeable and highly skilled young men. In addition, the entire crew was very professional in appearance, attire and language, hard-working, and always pleasant to deal with. They seem to truly enjoy the work, and were very dedicated to ensuring that we were happy with the results. We have received many compliments on the work. In the back yard, the deck they created for us was extremely complicated and yet they completed it with tremendous skill and ingenuity. It is with great pride that we will show off what has to be one of the most unique decks in the entire city. How many people can say they have two 60-year-old trees growing right through their deck? The walkway and patio that they created with paver bricks looks great and we are certain to enjoy it for many years to come. It too presented some challenges due to the tree roots and the lack of proper grading our yard had previously. But again, the Yard Dawgs team were up to the challenge and we are thrilled with the result. We love all the planter boxes and especially love the pond with the wonderful fountain that gives our yard a tranquil and relaxing sound. Thanks to the Yard Dawgs, our landscaping looks fantastic!

My chain link fence needed to be removed last year when I had a garage built in my backyard. As a result, I had a small section that needed to be connected to the garage to close off that section of the yard. I had tried contacting several other companies, and even had a couple come out to provide an estimate. Because it was a small job, none of the contractors seemed very interested in taking on the work. It may have been a small project, but it was hugely important to me! From my first contact with Tyler from First Class Fencining I was very impressed with his attitude and committment to my project. The fact that it was a small project didn't deter him and he indicated that it was the type of work that he could do in the midst of another project, if he finished early one day, or even on a rainy day since it didn't require any cement. I was flexible with my schedule so that worked for me. On the day that he was able to do my project, Tyler contacted me in the morning to let me know he would be coming by that afternoon. He arrived fully prepared to work, we quickly discussed the project and he got to work. Within a few hours he completed the work and the job site was left completely spotless when he was done. I was very happy with the end product and Tyler was great to work with. He certainly lives up to the name of First Class Fencing!

We had a great experience with Chad and his team at Asonic Roofing. We replaced our shingles, soffits, facia and eavestroughs. We'd had 3 other estimates and while the prices were similar, Chad met with us to explain the process and to highlight how his company stood out above the competition. After meeting with Chad and learning about Asonic, we felt very confident in hiring Asonic for our project. It turned out to be a great decision! They did a great job with all the work. Chad provided a timeline of dates when different parts of the project would be completed. They were able to stay very close to those timeline dates, and any exceptions (mostly due to weather) were clearly communicated to us. When the crew was here, they were very polite, hard working and committed to doing a good job for us. They completed the shingles in one day, and the dumpster bin was removed the next morning. The soft metals work was completed in two days and we are very happy with the look and quality of work completed. Chad was very responsive to any questions and was here frequently through the project to oversee. I highly recommend Chad and Asonic to anyone looking for roof work!
