3/10

Sept. 6, 2013 Pro Concrete began work to install a decorative concrete step at our home. Most of the work was completed the first week, some the following week. However there remains an unresolved problem. Concrete was applied over caulking on the step directly in front of the entrance door which has of course cracked and crumbled away. We contacted Pro Concrete when it first appeared within 2 weeks of the project start. They came out and looked at it and we were assured it would be addressed. Now 3 months later and after many many calls to various people at the company, it remains unfixed and unresolved. They have called it a 'maintenance' issue, and we have been told repeatedly 'we will get to it', but so far no luck. We have asked for a time frame and they have not been willing to commit. Yes everyone is busy, but on a new job for a problem to arise and 3 months to pass with no resolution in sight is unacceptable. We will update this posting to detail how and when the issue is fixed.

Approximate cost of services:
$6,000.00

Company Response

Dustin,

We’re truly sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with the outcome of the concrete.

We did parge over the caulking as we do with every other home. Unfortunately it did crack, and we came back to resolve this, although it did take a few weeks. Instead of letting us fix this as we know best you then requested that we remove the caulking altogether; this after one of the foreman advised strongly against it as this is not normal practice. You are the first person ever to request this.

In doing this kind of work for 30 years we went against our better judgment to please you and removed the caulking and parged right up to the threshold as you insisted and stated this was your house and you wanted it done your way. Of course when we came the next day to seal it the parged area then cracked and chipped; the caulking, which absorbs movement, was gone, as requested.

At this point it was late in the season, and we decided that this should be fixed in the spring. We we’re at your place in April as soon as we opened for the season, you met with Silvio and the foreman who was onsite for the install to discuss how we’d fix this. We did fix the area, re caulked it, as we wanted to do in the first place, and everything looks great.

I would like to remind you that through all these months, we hadn’t taken one single dollar from you. In fact, we did not take any money until Silvio met with you May 24th 2014 at 1:30, one month after the repair was completed when you gave him a cheque that you told him not to cash right away. For 8 months and 11 days, you had and entire unpaid $6000.00 entrance and still felt the need to slam us with a crummy review. We’ve given you time to respond with an updated review and since you haven’t you’ve left us no choice but to tell our side.
