Moving into our first home last year, we liked that all of the existing appliances came with the house. They all seemed in good condition, and while not brand-new, they all appear to have been purchased within the last 5 years or so. We thought we had at least a couple of years before needing to think about a major appliance purchase. Then, the stove computer stopped working. It is a gas stove, with the standard digital readout and control panel. Looking to check the time, I glanced over at the display, only to realize it was blank. I tried turning on the stove, and selecting some of the other buttons, to no avail. It was dead. I'd heard Steve Brannan on the CBC, and liked his practical, straight-forward advice. I gave him a call, leaving a description of the problem on his voicemail. Within a couple of hours, he called me back, asked a few additional questions about the stove, and then told me to try unplugging the panel for several hours, at least overnight, and then plug it back in. Apparently, this can reset the computer panel, and in this case, it worked. Pulling the plug before we left town for the weekend, when we got back home on the Sunday night and plugged it back in, it worked like new again. If it hadn't, replacing it would have cost at least $400, if not more. Thanks to Steve for providing the right advice, and saving me an unnecessary visit and expense. I'd definitely use him again!

With a three-month old, we use our washing machine almost daily. This past Saturday, we were doing a big load of onesies and receiving blankets, and knew something was wrong when the machine hit the spin cycle. There was a terrible noise, and no spinning. After some of our own trouble-shooting, we knew we had a full-alarm emergency on our hands, and needed help, fast. Our search led us to a couple other companies, who weren't open on weekends; another appliance repair company we reached told us `well, you better call someone who fixes washing machines.' Then, we found Gary. He called us back within minutes of our leaving a message for him, and agreed to be to our home within the hour. Almost to the minute, he was pulling into our driveway. 15 minutes later, he had the machine open, and the problem diagnosed. 30 minutes after that, he was closing up his toolbox, and getting ready to go. Our wash was back on track a mere 2 hours after the machine went south. He warranties his work and parts for 90 days, worked fast and clean, and for a reasonable price, considering it was the middle of a beautiful summer Saturday. If you're looking for quick, reliable, and reasonably priced service, then check out Gary.

I noticed that an ongoing leak from our kitchen sink was getting worse, and wasn't sure of the source. A quick look on Homestars led me to Water Works Plumbing. I called at lunchtime, and within two hours, Michael and Robert were in my kitchen troubleshooting the problem: a very leaky faucet. They had an immediate solution, and all the tools and hardware necessary to fix the problem on the spot. Within an hour and half, I had a very cool brand new kitchen faucet, and they included a built-in soap dispenser, as well! These guys were the definition of efficient. Within minutes of my initial call, I had Michael and Robert on the phone to confirm an appointment. They showed up right when they said they would (a little early, actually), and in addition to solving the leak problem, they provided some great advice and solutions to a couple of unrelated plumbing questions I had. When they were done, they were very attentive in their clean up, even taking a couple of throw rugs outside to shake them out. My wife and I are home with our newborn, and we are all very grateful and pleased with the work Michael and Robert did during this hectic time in our lives. These are the kind of folks you want in your home to fix your plumbing problems. Thanks Michael and Robert at Water works Plumbing.
