The insulation in my roof didn't have sufficient air gap which caused condensation and water to drip through my drywall ceiling. I had a few companies quote spray-on foam insulation to replace the existing insulation and create a water barrier. FoamWorks was competitive and local. I met with Julian from FoamWorks to discuss the job and concerns I had relating to internet articles on spray foam installation projects that had gone wrong. Julian was clearly very knowledgeable about the various spray foam products and was able to explain to me why each of the projects had failed in the articles I had read. At this point I was very confident I would be in good hands with FoamWorks. My concerns addressed, I schedule the work to be done while we were on a family vacation. I had arranged for my niece to be at the house on the day of the job. As scheduled FoamWorks arrived and setup their truck for the job, just in time to have a City of Toronto road crew pull up and inform them they have to leave the site due to road maintenance work. Julian, knowing we needed to have the job completed during our vacation tried to reschedule another date with my niece but she was unavailable any other day. Going way above any expectations Julian arranged with my niece and his crew to return later that day, after the road work was complete, and worked through the evening to complete the job. We returned from our vacation to a job professionally done oblivious to the drama that had occurred. I would recommend Julian and FoamWorks in a heartbeat. Thank you Julian, the FoamWorks crew and Kristina. We would not have gotten this done without you.

We were recommended to Eugene and O’Brien Construction initially to replace the leaking deck of our second floor balcony. We had considered enclosing the balcony but after several quotes and discussions with other designer/contractors had given up due to the time and cost constraints they indicated and with 3 kids under 5 we were unable to vacate the premises for the duration they indicated they needed during construction. During the cleanup of the leak damage Eugene assessed our original plans and didn’t see why it couldn’t be done. He recommended a designer that was able to get us the building permits to fully enclose the balcony and we were on our way. By the time we obtained the building permit we were into December and on a tight schedule to beat the snow. Eugene and his crew were extremely accommodating to our schedules and in controlling noise during our children’s naps. They were very clean and safety conscious. During every stage they would enclose each area in dust proof poly and thoroughly clean up afterwards. When not actively working as on weekends they disassembled their dust enclosures to make our kitchen and critical living areas accessible and functional. Despite the fact that the project involved completely removing the roof over the kitchen and breached the walls in both of the children’s rooms we were only required to vacate the house for 3 days through the entire project. Even with the accommodations they made for us they managed to get the structure and roof in place before it snowed. Once again, great guys to work with, great workmanship, they managed the project despite our time constraints at reasonable prices and great with kids to boot! We highly recommend O’Brien Construction and truly owe it to them for getting this project realized. With them we were able to completely reconfigure our second floor giving us an additional room for the kids to use as a playroom / closet area and were able to considerably expand a previously non-functional bedroom. We have some additional desperately needed room and the overall flow of our house has been improved considerably. Thank you Eugene and O’Brien Construction.

We had a project to fix a small second floor walkout that was leaking. We figured we'd take the opportunity to enclose the walkout and add to our living space. Had several designer/contractors quote the job. Each warned it would likely need to go to committee of adjustments and would take several months and likely several thousand just to get the design and building permits. We gave up on the enclosure due to the approaching winter and decided to just replace the walkout deck. Cadaxx Design offered a flat rate to do the drawings and permit submissions. They looked into all the municipal code requirements and didn't see any reason that it would have to go to committee. They provided a full set of drawings to replace the walkout deck and submitted the drawings to the city to obtain the building permit so we could start demolition as it was getting into late November. They immediately resubmitted drawings for the full enclosure and managed to get us our permit in time to go ahead with the full enclosure. They encountered a few issues with the city regarding building permit submissions made by the previous owners which they resolved. Despite the several visits to the City's Permit office to resolve the issues and the two sets of drawings they did this all under their original very reasonable flat rate fee. We recently just completed the final finishing touches on our new room. Despite being such a small addition the ability to enclose the walkout provide us with the opportunity to completely reconfigure our kids rooms. We were able remove the original closets to their rooms which added over 2 feet to one bedroom that was previously non-functional. We added a pocket door so both kid’s rooms could access the new room which gave them both substantial closet and play space. Alex and Cadaxx Design enabled us to transform two relatively non-functional areas in our home giving us a boost in desperately needed living space which also significantly improved the overall flow of our home. Without them we would have given up on the enclosure and spent a significant amount of money replacing a walkout deck we had possibly used twice in the last 4 years. Thank you Cadaxx Design.
