Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

Twice now I had the team here at my home to do electrical upgrades and potlighting in my space. They were a pleasure to deal with and their pricing was honest and upfront. Would not have any qualms to offer their info to others.

Pros: excellent quality Cons: extremely low professionalism and emotional maturity, very slow execution of the job I hired this company to remove a section of ceiling, then restore the ceiling and then paint it. The size of the ceiling was about 25 feet by 3 feet. It took them about six weeks to complete this job. The ceiling removal went well as can be expected, but they left the old drywall in my place and continually promised to remove it. They never did and forced me to dispose of it in the end. Next Rob and an assistant came by to restore the ceiling. As they were working, Rob became increasingly more and more angry. I asked him what was bothering him and he said the job was bigger than expected. He never had come to my place before that point so he could not have known how big the job was except by my rough description on the phone. As he became more angry, he started taking it out on my ceiling by continually drilling many holes in it. Eventually he had to take a “time-out” and go for a walk to calm himself down. Next, Rob sent Justin to work on my place - Justin had just been hired but Rob had never seen any of his work. Every day Justin was late by 2-4 hours, even after I called him and he would say “be there in 15 minutes” and two hours later he would show up. Justin did a terrible job on the ceiling, so Rob fired him and re-did everything. This is Rob’s saving grace - he does care about quality and the final work was very good and you would never know any work was done on the ceiling. In Rob’s communication he was unable to take responsibility for his actions. He always had someone to blame - it could be one of his employees, it could be circumstances, and sometimes it was me. For example, he said the job took a long time because of my “crazy schedule”. Except that I was working from home and available all day and all night pretty much every day. The only way his comments make sense is to realize that Rob simply can not take responsibility for his actions and always has someone to blame. Because he was so volatile I made sure to stick with the facts in my communications with him. Even so he let loose a continual stream of drama such as when he often assumed that I was disappointed in something and made excuses for things I didn’t care about. The only thing that mattered to me was getting the job done, and that’s what I continually focused on in our communication. I would never work with this company again due to the lack of professionalism in behaviour and communication, even though the quality was good.

Paul, I don't believe you are writing this on the right account, as per every other review on my account specifically says, that I came out their project to look at it, so in no way would I take on a project without looking at it. I'd also like to add that I am always professional and curtious to whichever job or quote that I do look at, and to every client I meet, you can contact any one of these customers on homestars and inquire, I will admit and I'm sure every company has gone thru their fair share of employees whom have advised their employers that they are skilled at something for an x amount of years to find out that that is not the case and adjustments have to be made, also, I have never left any job go for 6 weeks unless advised by a homeowner that they are waiting on something to be done, or work permits are still outstanding. I find it very odd that over 3 years of great reviews I would suddenly read a review such as this. I have had jobs where a client maybe unhappy about something, rather it be framing, drywalling, taping or what not, and if so I do my best to correct the problem so that way my client is 100 percent satisfied at the end of each job, and that everything looks exactly the way that the client had hoped for. I do however apologize if this happened to you.. and if you would like to contact me in regards to the insulting review, in which again I have not had at all on my account for the duration I've been with homestars there obviously been an error and I'll be happy to discuss this with you, as you say the work is great and what not and the ceiling did work out great, so obviously the contractor came back to fix the error in which "justin" you said had not done such a nice job..we always make sure that the job is done and done well. You could have had your job left that way in which I'm sure would of made you less happy. So glad you had the contractor come back to fix his errors, some may not be so lucky. Thanks paul.
