Dave did a fantastic job. He made time for our relatively small job in the Upper Beaches, and did everything right. Professional, top quality work, on time, on budget, very helpful and knowledgeable. I would use again, and highly recommend.

Thanks for your business John, it was a pleasure working for you!

This company worked together with their affiliate company Wildlife Shield to help solve our rat problem. They charged nearly $400 to put poison inside our house, at multiple locations, and outsid. They did not set a single trap until the rats were already dead and rotting. Now we have dead rats that have smelled for over 1 month. It's disgusting. Four different people have visited our house and talked with us on the phone, and they all tell different stories, to us and to each other, about what they will do and have done. They need better communication because they have a serious problem with their service because they don't communicate effectively to each other. It seems they have no idea what's going on or even what each other has done and said. Similar review written for the affiliate company, Wildlife Shield, as we received service from both for this issue.

John,

you hired us to get rid of the rat issue you were facing at your home. It is evident from both of your negative reviews you have written that the rat population is no longer there.

It appears however that you are dissatisfied with the process of the service we provided.

Let me walk you through, again, (please read the response to your other negative review) of the events that unfolded.

When we were first at your house there was a dead rodent smell that the technician pointed out to your partner, at which time we were unaware of your ongoing rat poisoning.

Both you and your partner reluctantly confirmed to us (both office staff and field technicians) on later dates and on separate occasions that you were poisoning rats for a couple of weeks before our first service. This information came about after we explained to you and your partner that our products could not have created the bad smell since it takes at least 5 days for them to kill the targeted pest.

In light of your existing rat poisoning and in your absence during the first service, your partner refused the setting of snap traps in your basement ceiling as this action would require us removing a make shift hatch you had created.

Again, you called us 2 days after our first service claiming that we had caused the dead rodent smell. As explained to you in detail over the phone repeatedly and in writing, the products we use do not kill in 2 days. It takes a minimum of 5 days for the products to kill after a lethal dose has been consumed.

Despite you withholding vital information in regards to the cause of the dead rodent smell we performed multiple customer service calls and followup visits in efforts to alleviate the bad smell before and after this information was revealed to us.
You and your partner have refused chemical disinfection of the drop ceiling while using a specialized fogger on multiple occasions.

On our end, we keep meticulous records of every service we provide. There has been zero miscommunication on our end on what has been done. If anything the technician should have been adamant and far less accommodating to you partners requests.

In retrospect it appears that a negative review from you would be unavoidable. Had we only placed snap traps in your drop ceiling you would still be accusing us of dead rodent smells.

It appears that you and your partner need to be on the same page when third party accusations are made in regards to ill conduct.

In any case, we are still sticking to our warranty in regards to the rat extermination.

Let us know if the problem reappears

We suspected we had rats in the basement, and called for help. Without setting a single trap the person who visited loaded the inside of our house with poison, on two separate visits. He said that if the rats died inside the house, the smell would only last 3 days to 1 week at the most. Wrong. Our basement has smelled like dead rats for over a month. Other members from the company have acknowledged that using poison in the house before setting traps was absolutely the wrong thing to do. They said "rule number 1 is don't use poison in the house". Well, they broke their own rule #1. They have visited multiple times to try and alleviate the odor with chemicals, but let me tell you NOTHING got rid of the dead rat smell. They also set traps, but only after the rats were already dead. We have a finished basement which is usually the main area for our kids to play and for our entertainment room. We have not been able to use our basement for over a month. Unless we tear out walls, we are going to have dead rats in our house forever. We spend nearly $400 for this "service".

Company Response

John,

We are happy to hear that the advanced rat infestation you were experiencing has been resolved. Please let us know if activity persists and we will gladly continue to follow up like we have at no additional cost.

As far as the smell is concerned we would like to mention a couple of things about your case.

The smell was evident during our first visit and before we applied any treatment. This was pointed out to your partner and yourself and was a result of your attempt to deal with the rat problem by poisoning rats on your own. As you told us, you had started poisoning them the week prior to our arrival for the service.

Two days after our treatment was applied you notified us that the dead rodent smell was getting worse.
The rodenticides we use do not kill within two days as per product labels. It takes a minimum of 5 days for the products to kill rodents after a lethal dose has been consumed, as per product label specifications. A lethal dose can take multiple feeding to be delivered. We have communicated these label specifications to you in detail-repeatedly. Not to mention that bad smells associated with flesh decomposition usually start 24 hours after death.

Unfortunately, we should not have taken responsibility for third party products or "techniques". John, these are the dangers of poisoning rats indoors on your own.

You are correct, it is not company policy to poison rats indoors and we avoid it unless it is absolutely necessary or the only solution available at the time. The only way for us to have effectively placed snap traps during our first visit would have been by removing the makeshift hatch to you drop ceiling which your partner explicitly refused. In retrospect, we should have been more insistent and far less accommodating to your requests, for your and our benefit.

Also, even though we advised you not to block any entry points on your own until the extermination process was complete, you deemed necessary to block the main rat entry point immediately after our first service and against our advice.

In the spirit of committed customer service, by which we conduct our business, we have been in continuous contact with both you and your partner and have conducted dozens of customer service calls, several followup visits, at no additional cost, and have proposed several solutions for odor removal at again no additional cost, which you have refused.

If the rat activity returns please notify us. We would be happy to return, readdress the issue and honor our warranty.

Thank you

Dave is very friendly and did a good job installing our gas fireplace insert. The finishing work could have been better, for the stonework and the mantle. There are some small gaps, uneven cuts, and rough edges.

Hired Royal Crown to replace eavestroughs and downspouts based on positive reviews on Homestars. I guess I got the "B" team... Nothing worked. Gap between the eavestrough and roof allowed water to leak through (they came back and fixed this). Downspout crimped and stuffed into the city's drain, restricting water flow. I fixed that myself. Y joint that was not assembled correctly so that virtually NO water could flow through. Water pours out everywhere when it rains. I have hired another company to come and redo Royal Crown's work.
