installation of de-icing cables on roof
It was difficult to find a company who was prepared to install cables only, and not suggest roof replacement. They returned my call quickly, gave a quote over the phone and showed up at the scheduled time. Everything else was very bad. The end result was an installation that did not conform to manufacturer's spec and therefore voided any possible warranty. The system was installed incorrectly such that it was guaranteed to fail and presented a very real fire hazard. They tried to fix it on a second trip, but that rework ended up being worse (more dangerous). They simply don't know what they are doing with this product. I ended up having it completely removed and reinstalled correctly by others at my expense. They did not respond to my written complaint.
Our renovation was the absolute worst contractor experience by far after decades of various homes and projects . Commitments were made and broken repeatedly. The original time promise of six weeks, actually took six months. We couldn't get a return call to our messages for a two month stretch. There was awful communication between the company and the sub-trades. The cabinetry workmanship is amateurish. I used the experience as inspiration for a presentation I made in my industry on "how not to do business".
