Our furnace started making loud noises. When I contacted High Efficiency, Gilbert was very patient and helpful. He was able to schedule a diagnostic call quickly with Harry. Harry was prompt, knowledgeable and courteous and he was able to see what the problem was immediately. Unfortunately, the part that was causing the problem could not be replaced, so we discovered we needed to replace our furnace. The same evening, Charton, their salesperson phoned us and sent several quote options. He came the next day to measure and we were able to order our new furnace. We had the opportunity to have it installed the next day, Sunday, but opted for Monday. So far, we are very impressed with the “High Efficiency” of this company! They are the most responsive, knowledgeable professionals we have ever encountered!

We were having difficulty getting anyone to follow through and come to our home to assess issues with our ac. However, within one day of contacting Aire Max, the technician arrived at our home, diagnosed the problem efficiently and with knowledge and expertise was able to obtain and install our new Infinity Control. He made sure the furnace and ac were functioning well and gave a brief lesson on working the new system controller. After owning our rental condo for 8 years and having endured several floods and repairs, it was time to start fresh and totally reinvigorate our condo. There was only one place we looked to handle this important job and of course, it was Finer Edge, a company we have trusted with confidence over the years. Bill came, provided an overview and cost which included repairs, such as recaulking bathroom tub, kitchen sink and recaulking above kitchen cupboards. Over 3 days, a 2 man team did an absolutely splendid job of preparing, repainting and applying extra coats where needed to make our condo look absolutely brand new. The team was conscientious, professional, courteous and worked with great pride. They even assisted with removing and replacing burnt out pot lights. They also adjusted and repaired several door hinges. No job was too small for them to gladly help out. Finer Edge continues to set the standard for excellence in every facet of their work! Due to a flood in our condo building, we once again contacted Rick to assist us through a challenging situation that stretched over several months. Rick was very obliging and accommodating in arranging to come and remove the entire damaged floor and had no qualms about knowing he would have to wait several months to install another new floor. Rick was so customer oriented that he came to our home to show us samples for the new condo flooring and assisted us in making an astute decision that would ultimately enhance the value and appeal of our rental condo. On the days of installation, Attila, Tomas and David worked hard with precision, expertise and great professionalism to provide us with a fabulous new floor. Fix Appliance Repair answered my online request promptly with a phone call and scheduled their repairman, Dima, to come within a couple of hours. He came right on time, assessed the problem and clearly explained repair options. Dima even had the repair part necessary in his truck, so we didn’t have to wait for another service call. Dima was respectful, courteous, knowledgeable and skilled. He had fixed the fridge problem within a couple of hours. It is very rare to meet a service technician like Dima, who not only has the skill and knowledge to do an outstanding job, but has wonderful integrity and honesty in trying to help his customer by putting himself in their shoes and offering the best solutions in his judgement. What a pleasure it was to deal with Dima and his company!

This is the second time I called Sam in to service our furnace/ac and tankless hot water heater and our gas fireplace. I would never go back to anyone else after being treated, once again with complete honesty, transparency, openness and efficiency. Sam’s goal is not only to provide excellent service, in the maintenance of all heating and a/c equipment, but to be careful to give a fair and honest explanation to the customer of what needs to be done and why, and what does not need to be done and why. Sam has a sense of obligation to treat others the way he would like to be treated as a customer. It’s refreshing to be treated with such respect. How many companies do you know that look at the possible work to be done from the viewpoint of the customer to make sure every dollar is spent wisely? I recommend Sam very highly, as someone who will do a terrific job at a very honest and reasonable price. He is the best I have ever encountered in 30 years! Trust Sam. I’m glad I did!

The company worked hard to rectify an old seized value and replace it with a new valve and small section of pipe leading to the exterior wall. Mr. Yuffa did the job personally and demonstrated that he obviously thoroughly knows what he is doing and tries hard to satisfy his customers. In about an hour and a half, the job was completed with skill, expertise and efficiency and we are certainly pleased now that we will be able to close the valve and the water supply to the outside from our laundry room with ease and confidence. Waterworks has a thorough understanding and knowledge of all plumbing issues and can be called upon to manage any plumbing situation that may arise.

Arriving home from vacation, we turned the water back on and went shopping. Upon returning home, we noticed water coming out of the garage from a leaking hose faucet. Why did this happen on Super Bowl Sunday, when we'd have to pay someone so much overtime to get this leak stopped? I remembered my friend using Waterworks and raving about them, so I called and explained the situation and asked if they could delay until Monday to avoid overtime charges. Aaron called back within a few hours and told us they don't have overtime charges and within an hour he was at our home repairing the broken pipe faucet and valve. Aaron was completely professional, courteous. knowledgeable and honest. We showed him another plumbing situation that will need correcting in the spring, and he gave us a fair estimate for that, too. I highly recommend Aaron and Waterworks Plumbing, as they can be trusted for their integrity.

Yesterday we woke up with no hot water from our tankless water heater. We quickly searched Homestars, as is our usual practice, and came across Climax Air Conditioning as a top rated company in this field. Within 5 - 6 hours, the problem was fully solved, as Sam prioritized attention to customer service, kept totally in touch with us as to his schedule and arrived promptly, as promised. He professionally analyzed and assessed the problem, remedied the situation and explained what had gone wrong. We trusted Sam and Homestars and it paid off again....excellent, courteous, knowledgeable service with a friendly touch! We look forward to using this company again for future furnace and a/c maintenance.

Recently we contacted Finer Edge about repainting our deck, as there was a moisture issue from last year. From the ownership down, we could not have been treated better and listened to more attentively than by the great professionals at Finer Edge. Not only did Luigi come and examine the moisture issue, he went out of his way to order and pay for a special paint at no expense to us and then this past week, Danny came and sanded and painted the deck floor to perfection. Finer Edge lives up to its trusted reputation and is strident in its belief that the customer must be totally satisfied. We are totally loyal to Finer Edge because they are totally loyal to us as valued repeat customers. It's a great partnership!

Once again we used Homestars - this time as a guide to direct us to a reputable appliance dealer when purchasing a kitchen appliance package. The more we read about different companies, the more apprehensive we became, as so many companies received questionable reviews. The only one that stood out for exceptional service was Faulkner's and we decided to drive the extra mileage from North York to get there and we ended up thrilled with our decision! Faulkner's proved why they are rated the top appliance dealer in the GTA. Salesman Bob was very experienced and knowledgeable and guided us to the appliances that would fit our needs best. Bob is an attentive listener and did not try to oversell, but was very sensitive to our wishes, based on our kitchen measurements and family needs. All of the choices we made together were excellent and we are delighted with our Samsung fridge, stove and microwave, as well as our Bosch dishwasher. We are very pleased with the role Bob played from start to finish. The pricing was tremendously competitive at Faulkner's. Bob, himself, installed the appliances and he thoroughly did a professional and outstanding job. The two young delivery men were courteous, friendly, careful and skilled in their work, treating our home as if it were their own. If you want any appliances, at all, you will not go wrong with this gem of a company!

Once again, we contacted Finer Edge when we had interior and exterior painting to be done. And, once again, we are thoroughly pleased with the outstanding painting and professionalism of this company. When one of the owners, Bill, came to give us a quote, he was attentive, honest, fair and trustworthy, not trying to make the job bigger than it was, but giving wise guidance and expertise in what was necessary and what was not. The painting itself was done by Danny who was forever prompt, professional, courteous, hard working and proud of his work. Danny was very obliging and went out of his way to do extra repair jobs for us that other professional renovators had dismissed as impossible. The quality of Danny's work was absolutely outstanding! Finally, the project manager, Luigi, was very visible, caring and customer oriented as he checked in repeatedly to make sure the job was progressing to the standards that Finer Edge insists on. There is no doubt we would highly recommend Finer Edge Painters as the Gold Standard other painting companies should aspire to. We couldn't be more pleased with this company!

To complete the renovations of our home, the last item of importance was to reupholster our Bergere chair & ottoman for our newly designed living room. As usual, we looked to homestars for guidance and Keith at Upper Canada Upholstery was rated #1. Once again, homestars did not let us down, as we are thoroughly pleased with the outstanding job Keith did, not only reupholstering with meticulous excellence our chair and ottoman, but also going beyond the call of duty by re-shaping the seat cushion around the base of the arm supports for a much better fit than when it was custom made ten years ago. Keith also reinforced the seat and ottoman cushions for improved comfort and durability. We cannot recommend Keith more highly, as he has the pride of the old school craftsman and this transcends into outstanding work.

Having decided to get our entire interior house painted our first decision was to research HomeStars and the clear number one choice was Finer Edge. We called them to get a quote and one of the owners, Bill, showed up, gave us a very competitive quote and we have not looked back. If we could, we would give Finer Edge an "11" star rating out of 10 - they were that good! From consulting with Colin regarding paint colours, installation of a ceiling medallion and crown moulding in the master bedroom, every detail was organized and perfectly planned. We had agonized for months about how to make decisions regarding painting the interior of our home and updating the living room, dining room and master bedroom to a standard of elegance that would give them a wow factor. In a matter of several hours this genius of design had given me a complete colour consultation for every room in the house, had moved furniture, had uncluttered, had advised on location and placement of rugs, lighting and furniture and design elements of the rooms and had ultimately given me a template to make my home a showpiece of grace and elegance. Furthermore, Nanette has a vast array of resource people in the design industry who can provide everything you need to complete your home based on her recommendations, from carpets to lighting fixtures, curtains, upholstery fabrics, furniture and tradespeople. For example, shortly after leaving, Nanette sourced out new designer carpets from her contact in Designers Walk and within a few days we owned a beautiful Tibetan wool carpet that will be the focal point of our new dining room. We were highly satisfied with Nanette's guidance, advice, insight and support. In summary, we look forward to working with her in the future as we finalize design elements in our home. We can't imagine there is anyone better on the interior design scene.

As usual, when we decided to find a source for a new gas fireplace and mantel we went to Homestars for guidance. AM Group Studio had won an award from Homestars so we thought we would get one of our three quotes from them. Shawn quickly arranged to come to our home, listened carefully to our questions and ideas and urged us to visit their Doncaster showroom to see a full array of products, such as fireplaces and cast stone mantels. We never looked back. We were treated respectfully, honestly and fairly and we ended up with a high quality Regency gas fireplace. Then we met Sam, the craftsman and manager of the cast stone division of the company, and this gentleman, again, treated us first class. The stone mantels which he has on display and which he has crafted are simply superb. We chose a beautiful stone mantel at a great price. Measurements were done very quickly at in our living room by Sam and within 10 days, our new quality gas fireplace and breathtaking stone mantel were in place. We never thought we could have a fireplace and stone mantel for such a terrific price. Shawn and Sam are professionals who take pride in their work and who make the customer feel very valued. The total product and price were so outstanding that they beat other quotes for the same product with a custom wooden mantel by a huge amount. Thank you so much to AM Group Studio. We couldn't be more pleased and proud.

Once again our garage door opener malfunctioned and we suspected it was another problem, as usual with the sensors. Reluctant to call in Sears again and again with their hefty cover charge, we to HomeStars and found Morningstar highly rated. We spoke to Danny directly in the early afternoon and by supper time he was at our door as promised. He quickly analyzed the problem with the sensors, relocated them to a better location, fixed our outdoor keypad in a snap and adjusted the tension on the garage door to make it more efficient. He was done in less than half an hour and we are more than pleased to have found someone of such honesty, reliability and fairness. Danny always smiles and is happy to help, possessing great knowledge about his area of expertise. We couldn't recommend Danny more highly for garage door needs.

Ray has been to our house several times and can assess, fix and repair any plumbing job. As he says, "If I can't fix it, it can't be repaired." In our fifty year old house, Ray has changed pipes, faucets, fixed leaky toilets and installed a new main water shut off valve. He is courteous, experienced and professional. Recently he changed a ten year old kitchen faucet, installed by home depot that was leaking unexpectedly. He carries assorted plumbing items in his truck and because he pro-actively determines future hot points we feel we are a step ahead in the long run avoiding bigger bills.

We chose Underhill's Landscaping to install a new driveway with a soldier course of pavers down either side because of the excellent job they had done across the street. As well, we had an adjacent large evergreen tree that spewed its bark, needles and pinecones on to the driveway. Being landscapers, Dave Underhill came up with an excellent solution - build a stone rockery around the entire tree, and add a few hostas for effect. The results were better than expected. The driveway is fashionable, appealing and functional and the rockery has added an eye pleasing accent to an otherwise unsightly mess. Underhill can combine landscaping to all masonry paving type installations as that is their expertise. Overall, we were very pleased.

After deciding that shutters were the way to go with our large front bay window, we researched shutters on the internet and on Homestars.ca and Amazing Shutters kept appearing at the top of our list for supreme product and supreme ratings. Alex came to the house a few weeks ago, explained the benefits and quality of the custom made polywood shutters and provided samples. We were sold. After a few weeks, Alex and his father installed the shutters today and the installation was first class, as they even caulked around the framework. The results are truly breathtaking! If you want quality, class, richness and peace of mind, we highly recommend Amazing Shutters. Alex and his dad are extremely proud of their work and we were rewarded by choosing their company.

With hundreds of window companies to choose from, we were apprehensive about whom to select to replace our leaky windows. However, after researching HomeStars, it quickly became evident that Brock was the top company recommended. Even though we got three quotes, it ended up being an easy decision to choose Brock Home Improvements to do the job and we have been rewarded with excellent service, excellent sales, excellent installation, excellent product and excellent follow-up. From the first meeting with our sales rep, Pat, we knew we were in for professional and honest advice. The installer, Edward, was also extremely professional and skilled. As Pat did, Edward loved his job and was proud of his work for Brock. Our windows are quality, backed by Window Wise and the talk of the street! This was our best experience in dealing with renovators and/or contractors over the last ten years. Brock delivers and we are very glad we chose them. Everyone should give Brock consideration.
