First off let me say that I do not regularly write in blogs or provide feedback for companies with which I do business. My expectation of work performed by a specialized company is very high and I would normally expect service excellence. That being said, I feel it is incumbent upon me to provide feedback for a recent renovation project that I began back in October 2014. After reviewing several local renovation based companies in my area, included a “big box” retailer, that shall remain nameless, I decided to engage Kitchen & Bath Inc., located on the Mississauga/Oakville border. (Link www.kitchenandbath.ca) Kitchen & Bath were not the “cheapest”, but they were by far and away, not the most expensive. As a well informed and intelligent consumer, I did my research and I based my decision on price and other factors that I think are equally important. Ability to do the job, a properly licensed workforce with many decades of experience each and a General Manager that truly took the “customer satisfaction” philosophy to a level I seldom see. I have been “ripped off” before, and this time I was going to be very careful. Initially, I had intended to undertake a kitchen renovation for my home that I purchased as a “fixer upper.” My home is a four bedroom side-split and was built which was built circa 1955. The kitchen was very dated, the floors badly worn and let’s just say, the house was not very well maintained by previous owners. So it was that I met with Kitchen & Bath interior decorator Michelle and General Manager, Hamid in my home. We talked in detail about what I had envisioned – my “dream kitchen.” To get what I really wanted, we talked at length about removing some of the walls and other grandiose ideas. Hamid made it clear at the outset that these walls may be load baring and we needed to keep that in mind for budget. Michelle took many photos and together they spent the next while measuring and taking copious notes. Shortly thereafter, I received a quote that I thought was fair and well thought out and so I signed on the dotted line. Seeing that Kitchen & Bath Inc., is busy with other customers, my renovation was scheduled to start several weeks later. Perfect timing for me as it gave me times to prepare. I decided to do the demolition myself with the help of family and friends. Early on, I discovered that a “botched” roof shingling job resulted in a leak lasting at least three years. I made a desperate call to Hamid and he laid my fears to rest with a “we can take care of that” resolution that made me feel much better about a bad situation. One the first day, all the materials arrived and I was introduced to the tradesmen who would be helping me. I must say that watching these fellows work was poetry in motion. They were all very accomplished tradesmen which was self-evident in their work. Everyone was licensed with some having over 20 and 40 years of experience! There were carpenters to do the carpentry work, plumbers to do the plumbing, electricians to do the electrical and the “go to guy” to seamlessly tie it all together. None of the “Jack does everything scenario.” The renovation did take longer than initially anticipated but this was in no way the fault of Kitchen & Bath Inc. The leaking roof caused me some major headaches and I made conscious decisions to change the project – many times in fact. “Can we remove this wall? Can I have this over here? Can you add this? Can you move the door? Can you redo all the trim and add crown moulding? Can we re-floor the entire house instead, and the stairs? Look at this is, is this going to be a problem?” I was probably the client every contractor abhors! However, every time I was met with – “we can do that for you.” The tradesmen even had a philosophy that impressed me - “there are no problems, only solutions.” In the end, I have the most amazing new home! I do, without reservation, overwhelmingly recommend Kitchen & Bath Inc. to do any sized renovation. I have been thoroughly impressed and six weeks later, I have had only very minor issues that were very quickly resolved. I urge you to drop by their showroom and speak with their very knowledgeable staff – you will not regret the decision. My two girls would like to thank you for their new bedrooms, and me for my dream kitchen! We would like extend our sincere thanks to Hamid, Michelle and the rest of the staff at Kitchen & Bath Inc., for a job well done! Congratulations!
