1/10

We hired Nate/Acres to come and refresh our front walkway and entrance steps from builder grade to something more modern and open to give the house more curb appeal. The job started about 2 weeks later than they had told us it would. Nate didn't quite listen to what we wanted and we had to ask him to correct it midway through the install. He did with exasperation. When the job was finished and paid for, we noticed a portion of the steps were still loose (the glue didn't take), and that the step treads were actually too narrow - our feet didn't fit on the tread. We couldn't use the steps as we were tripping and losing our balance on the small steps. We contacted him right away to come and fix it, we kept getting the brush off and excuses from Nate. More steps were losing their glue and coming apart and when we mentioned that to Nate he blamed us for pulling them apart (why would we do that?). In the end he told us to fix it ourselves or have someone else fix it and bill him. So we did, and haven't seen a penny. My advice? Stay far away from this company - they'll take your money gladly, but they have no pride of workmanship and don't care about quality customer service. I gave them a 1 on the satisfaction scale instead of 0 because I liked the stone he picked out. That's all.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,000.00

Company Response

Upon Completion of the project everyone was happy as we were paid in full. 2 months later i received an email with some concern to the depth of the steps. We advised that 12`` is standard for rounded steps however if they wish to change the design we could. 3 months later we received a message stating that the steps had literally moved out 4 inches from their place. this does not happen unless someone has pulled them apart. The motive to do so would be to have us return and re do the steps. As i stated they were pulled apart i believe they were. We have no problems fixing a problem or addressing an issue. Upon receiving a letter from a lawyer for us to pay another company to redo the work we declined approving paying said contractor to redo steps. Again the timeline in which is stated is not accurate. This is months after initial work was completed and not accurate in this review. While we have a warranty in place anything tampered with is not acceptable. However we never have a problem with changing design or addressing issues. But when there is any dishonesty about the motive or timeline with an issue we will definitely stand firm in our defense. A Simple email with wanting a change would have costed the client maybe $200 when the price was already discounted to fit into the clients budget is more than reasonable. Honesty is a must.
All the best in the future and we apologize for the negative experience.
