Jon and his team (Paul and other Jon) are outstanding. They painted our house inside, and soon outside, very professionally. Even the fairly effortful job of painting our high popcorn ceiling. Everything was done as we asked and done a day earlier than planned. They covered everything to protect our property, cleaned up perfectly. Jon was a real pleasure to deal with in the quoting phase and in follow ups. High recommend them.

Hurricane Joaquin decided to knock down the tree in our backyard. After making 11 calls to so-called emergency tree removal companies, Aaron was the only one who picked up. And showed up within a few hours to look things over! I can only say good things about Aaron and his team. He's calm, funny and knowledgeable. He gets what it means when a homeowner is scared that their house is going to get crushed, and doesn't tell you he'll be back whenever. He had a team here same day, even though they were servicing trees down all over the city. Which is by the way, another bug plus. He works IN Toronto. So many of these tree companies are based in Oakville or Mississauga and really don't want to do urban work. He does! They took the canopy off the tree that night, in the rain and howling winds, to remove the threat. Then came back the next day to take it off the phone lines at the back. The returned a third day to remove the remaining de-canopied tree trunk. What I like about this, even though it was done in there stages, was he came every day like he said he would and the problem was solved before the weekend was over. Even while he was obviously busy all over the city addressing other emergencies. His crew was also great -- expert in what they did, likeable, acrobatic (amazing to watch this work) and they left the place and our neighbors' properties, spotless. Hire this guy! Even if you don't have an emergency. But check for the Toronto Tree Removal that has his name, Aaron Hill, on it. Apparently another company uses the same name. Thanks, Aaron, Andrew and Jared and the whole terrific crew!

So impressed with this company. With our furnace making a terrible noise in -30, I called their emergency service. A person who was an actual technician, not an answering service, picked up. We had a chat where he actually identified the problem before seeing it. But I still wanted someone to come and look. Within 2 hours, Richard -- who is the project manager, and the person who answered my call -- was at our house, looking at the problem and reassuring us it wasn't dangerous. But it was clear the old 16 year old furnace was going. We bought a new high efficiency Rheem from him with an installation date of a day later. Such amazing service and timing. I was very worried about the noise the furnace was making and with very cold nights there was no way we wanted to wait days for an installation. Richard promised that two experienced techs, not a tech and an assistant, would do the work. The two men who came were fantastic. They did such a tidy job of routing our new venting pipes. The furnace was in place and working in less that 4 hours. The place was left spotless. The furnace has worked perfectly since we've had it. Richard even dropped into the installation to see how it was going and offered some important maintenance tips. We felt like we picked a solid company and we received excellent service. As a result, we've dumped our former furnace company and are using these guys.

We've had Northwood clean our furnace and air con for years. They even replaced a faulty part in the air con. Good work. No complaints. Until we had an emergency in very cold weather and we tried their emergency line. No one called us back so we went with the first person who did call us back. After the weekend, they called to book an appt to help us. When I told them that we'd left a message on their emergency line, I was told that it was broken and being fixed. When I explained how upset I was to be left, literally, out in the cold in -30, I expected some kind of remorse. The response: "oh well, what can you do?" On the spot, this company that we've trusted for years was fired. Yes, things happen. Phone lines break. But what really bugged me was little to no concern for a valued client. Too bad. Found a great new company.
