The most cost effective solution with good communication. They came and did the work post haste. They explained everything to me and showed me what was expected. There was a slight change after the install but they went along and undid their work and then redid it to accommodate. That was well appreciated. Polite, quiet, and clean. They social distanced and cleaned up after themselves.

I asked Allan to remove the popcorn ceiling and gave him all the info (ceiling height, square footage, photos and that it was not painted). He gave me a quote and we went along with the work. After coming to my house to pick up the keys to my new house, he partitioned the rooms to keep dust down, covered the floors and vents. He then found out that the popcorn was painted and not just painted with latex paint but some form of oil paint that has soaked through and made the popcorn more resilient than ever. He offered me an alternative which was to just mud over the popcorn as it would take longer to come off and cost more. Let's say after he was done, my wife was wowing and oohing looking at the ceiling. Allan got it done quickly and it's so perfectly flat, I wouldn't even know there was a popcorn ceiling still under there. Well done. Allan called every time he was coming or leaving and picked and dropped off keys as needed. He was constantly calling me to let me know when he was on and off property and if there was any delays on his end. So well done, I have asked him to quote me a job to do my basement as well. Looking forward to it and working with him in the future.

Wow, talk about requesting work, changing my mind, re-requesting a quote, and then changing my timing on site and such. Encore Electric was on point and constantly communicating with me as to what I need. Chris couldn't accommodate all my timing requests (understandably) but as soon as he got an opening for me, he called me first and asked if he could come and start the job. Talk about a guy that wants to care for each customer like they were his only customers. Great crew, respectful, clean (yes, they didn't smell. I said it), and timely. They cleaned up after themselves and did not leave one piece of crap on the ground because I have little kids that run around without slippers in the house. Jessie was a trooper in my attic space for almost 6 hours of the day running wiring with Chris. Great work gents. They even accommodated my own purchased hardware (dimmers, LED pod lights) and when my dimmers didn't work as expected, Chris brought his own to test and showed me that the dimmers I bought were not as good as I thought. Well done gents, keep up the good work.

I've used Consumer Choice twice times before. They have replaced my door, and screen door and I figured I had one more job to do that I could afford to do before putting my house for sale. I contacted them in February only to find that Nordik Windows took over Consumer's Choice and the rep I usually dealt with and who was timely had "moved on". Not overly happy about this but I considered it a single red flag and to ignore it. The new rep that came to the house was good and timely and courteous. The quote came in as discussed and I paid in full as I wanted to make sure there were no excuses to delays. Finally in April, I decided to start contacting them to find out where things were and apparently only one call was made to me and a voice message left (which I never got). I contacted the sales rep via email and voice mail. I even called their office and left the person in charge of my install a voice mail without a call back. After three days (of emails to the sales rep) I finally got an email (not even a phone call) that there were "several" calls made to me and I should call the office to schedule the install. I called the home office and finally got the rep responsible for the install who then proceeded to tell me that I can schedule a tentative install date even though I paid in full in February and it's now April. Apparently I've ordered a "special" glass that needs their partner to update the manufacturing timeline. Yup, RED flags galore. Under communicative, under delivering window manufacturer who claims that service is their #1 priority (on their website). I just hope my installers are going to be decent like the previous ones as I'm not going to use Nordik Window or its partner companies (Beverley Hills Windows and Door, Northern Comfort Windows and Doors, Verdun Windows and doors) again. What a shame as I really enjoyed my last two installs and paid the premium for the service. Nordik windows website mantra: No Middleman. No delays. No extra fees. No excuses. At Nordik you're dealing directly with the manufacturer. You get factory-direct pricing and you also receive factory-direct service on your custom-built windows and doors.

Hello Duncan,

We apologize for the communication you have received to date. It appears that we have you scheduled for an install May 10, which is within your timeline on your Terms and Conditions!

As we are a window manufacturer, there are no middleman, however, we still have to order glass from suppliers and different glass takes different time if we do not happen to have any in stock.

We hope you will enjoy your new window next week!

Thank you for your feedback,
Nordik

Asked to move venting out of basement for headroom. They made recommendations which we paid for but they used flex tubing to connect the major vent stack to the main trunk. When I asked for a quote to pay to change it to rigid venting, they stopped replying. Nine (9) months with hot and cold zone in the house with three (3) kids and still no word. I had to have another contractor come in to clean up their mess that they created.

During a bad wind storm in November, a tree snapped and fell on my flat roof. I called a family member who is a roofer to come that night to help patch holes created so that we wouldn't have any water damage. After getting quotes from the insurance company, I was given a quote that was suspiciously too low and didn't give me a material breakdown. I went back to the insurance company asking for a second quote at which point they sent B.W. Doucette. I felt comfortable as I was given a materials breakdown, and labour cost. I decided to go with B.W. Doucette as my insurance company recommended them and stood by them. Of course, since it was all covered by insurance, why not... it would cost insurance more money later on if there were any problems. Doucette Roofing came on time, and finished what should have been a 3 day job in a day and a half. They replace all the flat roof but did not replace the soffit or facia due to weather timing. They are scheduled to replace the facia and soffit later in the spring but so far no leaks from the roof. How do I know? I have interior walls removed due to the tree smashing in the roof, and structure needed to be inspected. I can see the flat roof directly and have inspected the space intermittently. I would recommend them again as I felt confident with Doucette roofing. Not to mention that they stand behind their work for 5 year. One other thing, during the cold month of January when the weather was a little better and there was still lots of snow in the ground, not a single piece of scrap was left behind. There were shavings of little bits of material that couldn't be removed from the snow but no nails, no metal, no crud left behind. Well done Doucette Roofing.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Take pictures of all your work as a reference and provide to home owner so as to prove no issues and also that the work was completed as expected. This will allow you to get negative reviews negated quickly.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Take pictures prior and post job. Insure that materials and labour are 50/50 approx. If you have little material and lots of labour... ask why.
