I have been considering getting my ducts sealed for a while now and after replacing my old windows, furnace and water heater I decided to finally take the plunge. I called a few Aeroseal contractors listed on Homestars and settled with Aeroseal GTA after speaking with Joe. Joe and Tommy showed up on time, and placed tarps on the floors leading to my basement to keep my floors clean. Joe and Tommy spent the first hour removing the old metal foil tape I had used on my ducts many years ago in an attempt to seal my leaky ducts. As Joe and I talked, I discovered that he has electrical engineer experience, sheet metal work and general contracting experience. After plugging all my air registers and sealing off my A/C evaporator coil, Joe attached the collar to my air duct and to his equipment to dispense the sealant. Immediately after Joe started his machine, the basement was filled with a fog of sealant leaking from all the leaks in my duct work. According to his computer I had about 376 CFM equal to a 71 inch square hole at the start of the process to just only 3 CFM at the end of the process! The airflow from my air registers have definitely increased and there is an even distribution of cool air from my A/C. I will rest assured this winter knowing that the money I spend on heating will be more efficiently distributed in my home. I believe that the investment in Aerosealing my air ducts will result in lower heating and cooling bills, a more comfortable home and reduced carbon footprint by using less energy. I highly recommend Joe and Aeroseal GTA.

After a couple of years of eavestrough leaks, I was fed up of and paying for patch work here and there, I decided to fix it the right way. I did some research on the different types and products on the market. I settled on the aul-rex t-rex continuous hanger system as my choice due to its reviews, strength, and warranty. Knowing that a premium eavestrough system would be pricy compared to the everyday bare minimum eavestrough, I set about to obtain several quotes. In total I received 5 quotes. Bledi, the owner of MBA Aluminum came to my house to measure and provided me a quote. I was surprised to find that MBA Aluminum’s quote was slightly above what other contractors were quoting for a regular eavestrough system but they were significantly less than what others wanted for the aul-rex t-rex system. After meeting with Bledi, I had the feeling he was a hardworking, honest contractor who wanted to do the job right the first time to ensure customer satisfaction and to build his reputation and company. After finalizing the price and terms of the quote, Beldi and his team were at my house in 2 days. They showed up on time and removed all the old eavestrough, installed the new eavestrough and cleaned the site in one day as promised. My new eavestrough looks fantastic and I feel assured that my aul-rex system eavestrough system will never be clogged up by leaves or debris and will outlast our winters due to the continuous hanger system. Save yourself time if you are thinking of replacing your eavestrough system and call MBA Aluminum. It will be money well spent. I am sure Bledi will provide you with an extremely competitive quote and will install the eavestrough correctly and on time.

A BIG thank you to Vargas Family Roofing, Elian, Jennifer and the crew for a great roofing job! My husband did an extensive research and had over 9 quotes from different contractors. Vargas was not the cheapest, nor were they the most expensive but very competitive in the middle. What sets Vargas apart from the bigger roofing companies is the rapport between Elian, Jen and the homeowner. They personally came to talk to us and discussed what we wanted. Both Elian and Jen know their stuff. In addition to the roof replacement, there is aluminum above the windows at the back of the house that bends and makes LOUD popping sounds when it flexes in strong winds. I asked Elian for his suggestions on fixing this. He didn’t have a solution right away but promised to come up with one. Over the next few weeks, we asked for several changes from a few of the contractors. In comparison, I know Vargas was not overcharging for any additions like the other contractors. For example, I asked for aluminum drip edge around the entire roof. Most contractors were asking for an additional $350 and up, and if you wanted the black or brown color instead of the standard silver aluminum color, there was an additional $75 charge. Vargas’ price in any color for the entire roof…$135!!! That is a reasonable price considering that a 10 foot length of drip edge in any color is around $15 at your local hardware store (did I tell you I did a lot of research). It was fair pricing, no gouging for every additional change. Vargas showed up right on time. They covered the ground with tarps and protected the windows and air conditioning unit from damage. As promised, Elian came up with a solution for the aluminum above the windows. Jen let me in on a little secret…that Elian lost sleep thinking about a solution – now that’s dedication. On the second day, the job was completed…so we thought. Apparently the supplier had accidentally shipped single layer ridge caps instead of double layer ridge caps. I could not tell the difference visually but Elian showed me that the double layer has an extra thicker double layer making it more durable than the single layer. Some contractors would have just installed the single layer ridge caps on the highest parts of the roof where the homeowner could not see the difference from street level. I asked Elian why didn’t he just install the single layer caps? He responded that HE would know that he did not do the right thing – now that’s integrity! The Vargas team came back to finish the job and it looks BEAUTIFUL! They cleaned up and swept the ground for stray nails and even put back the patio table, chairs, umbrella and BBQ back on the patio for us. I noticed that they missed re-caulking some of the aluminum above the windows that they fixed. When we mentioned it to Elian, he replied that he ran out of caulking and he would be back to fix it. A couple of days later, Elian showed up to caulk the windows. I asked why he didn’t just go to the local big box hardware store around the corner to buy caulking. He showed me the caulking he used and it was not a brand that you can get at the local big box store. Elian said it was professional stuff which would stick and was more flexible and would last a long time compared to that other stuff. If you want a team that knows what they are doing, a team that cares, a team that is honest, fair, has integrity, and does a great job, then choose Vargas Family Roofing! Oh and they gave us a bag of delicious Costa Rican coffee beans – thank you! Thanks again to Elian, Jen and the crew at Vargas Family Roofing for a spectacular job well done!
