Asked Encore Painting to completely paint my main floor after it was renovated. They were very flexible and understanding of the situation when going throughthe quote process. I wanted to get painting done as soon as it was possible once the renovation was complete and I was informed that Encore Painting would have a team ready within roughly a week's notice. Unfortunately this did not pan out well and painting dragged on for numerous reasons beyond what I had hoped.. -- only one painter was sent to do the work. I would argue it should have been 2 or 3 in order to get this done in a more timely manner. -- I asked for priming on all walls but it was insisted on me that it was not necessary to prime all surfaces. -- Painting of one of my doors proved a challenge for them as it seems to have been coated in a non-latex paint before my time, and needed several followup visits to solve painting this door -- additional follow-up visits needed to ensure the wall coverage did not have anomalous textures cause by painter misjudgement of paint curing physics. In the end, Encore finished the work, but did not make it happen in a timely manner without my constant supervision. They would not be my first choice for my next project. I understand this was several months after the pandemic was essentially over, but the nature and timing of the work done is more the issue.

Asked to hang a chandelier and got a quote in short order and just as quickly booked a day and time with flexibility. Was great with communication and quote without having visited ahead of the job. Mitchell provided all the details and concerns for me ahead of the job, such as possibility of needing reinforcement of the ceiling, but luckily we didn't need that. The team took care to even clean the fixture after it was done. Would gladly hire them for other electrical work.

I hired Dean to replace the main water shut-off in my house. This involves the homeowner calling city public services to shut-off the water outside the house and coordinate that with when a plumber is on-site to swap the valve in the home. My city charges a fee to do this shut-off. Dean was super-helpful in explaining this process to me in order to arrange the most efficient use of everyone's time. Dean is responsive, professional and his expertise shows in his work. I would recommend Hoskins Flush Inc to anyone that needs any kind of plumbing work.

Asked Tim and Yurri for quotes a couple times as I expanded the job from just sod to replace the interlock of the front landing. We finally booked the job but had trouble landing the date due to other jobs they had going on. Not great news, but I'm a patient person. As for the actual job, I'm very happy with the interlock stone work. Even with some compromises to the design it looks great. The main part of the job was to re-sod the front and back yard, and plant a bunch of trees and shrubs in the front. All seemed great about the work until they got to putting sod down that seemed already dead (yellow) or was killed by being in the sun on their truck for more than a day. I would rather that they defer the work to a date that was better for getting sod healthy and rooted, such as end of season, or keep the initial date which would have been better for starting sod growth. They had to spend a second day on site to finish work, which I'm OK with, except that at the end, roughly 40% of the sod they put down looked like it would fail outright. 3 weeks of careful watering later, I still have grass in the front and back that is dead. Luckily Tim came back with a small crew to replace some of the sod, though again it seems like bad timing for hot, sunny days and somewhat shoddy sod laying work was another bad start for that grass. No matter how I look at it, I'll need to put additional work into getting my grass as it should have been. I was very patient and polite, and provided details as to what I wanted from the work and while I was impressed with the stone work, I can't say I was entirely happy with the sod work. I should have denied installing the sod when I saw it, but oh well, job's done now. I'm very thankful that they came back to try and fix the issues. It just sucks that I have to be just one of the less than stellar reviews for these guys because they're really keen to do good work, but in some places I don't see it. I don't want this to come off as a bad review, but I'm just not 100% satisfied, and I'm also aware some of what happened is out of anyone's control. I would recommend their work, but be careful when you schedule getting sod work done. I'm likely to bring them back for other work.

I Contacted Igor last summer for a quote to do all our windows, which were crappy original home-builder windows. I was looking for no-nonsense windows, that were strong, reliable, simple and frames that would fit our main floor existing wood shutters. Most other companies couldn't accommodate, or were WAY overpriced. Finally this spring I asked Igor to come back and have comfortec do the job. He kept his promises and even had suggestions we never would have known about before. I'm quite glad we went with them because the outcome was great! Professional, friendly service and no age-ism, unlike other vendors. I'd gladly call them back for other work. Big thanks to the installers as well: Thomas and Genady. They answered all my questions and I did have quite a number of questions.

Excellent outcome for my previously unkept driveway. I had depressions where the asphalt meets the concrete edge of my garage, varying from 1 inch to 4 inches below the edge. At the bottom of my driveway, there was broken, deteriorated pieces of asphalt giving way to a large bump to get over the road gutter. Danny and his team took care of it with a combination of machine heat and fuse of the old driveway asphalt, making it look like new, and adding extra asphalt where needed, after cooking the old, to make is fuse together. Great solution for those that don't want a full redo or recap of their driveway, which is double the price. He called in the spray sealer guy afterwards so I didn't have to shop that. Without sealing, the outcome is less uniform, so just get er done while you're at it. Update: after seeing that 20% of the material put down was too rocky and not fine enough, that material is coming loose and looking just as rough as what I wanted this to cover. Next time I know to ask for finer asphalt or just redo the whole driveway.

Our master bathroom project was: - replace all fixtures; - swap location of toilet and shower (build glass shower stall); - remove corner tub for freestanding tub; - replace/ move vanity (single to dual sink); - tile the shower, floor and 1/4 of walls; - all electrical (pot lights, fan, outlet, relocating etc); - all plumbing; --- We agreed that I would handle: - framing, drywall, prime, paint; - demolition & disposal; - purchase of all (non-trade-specific, electrical) fixtures (fan, taps, toilet, etc); --- We chose K&B because they were transparent about the work and costs, and allowed us (per above) to save on some costs by doing those stages ourselves. They addressed all mistakes/issues whenever applicable in a professional manner. --- Now the Details! Initial Design, quote, and selection experience with Sofien was easy, and painless. He understood our specific needs when explained and he had many options and suggestions for making this bathroom fit our budget and still look amazing. Payment structure is fair, hassle-free, and fully explained. As for the actual service work of the contractors and the project manager, I should point out that if you're at all familiar with how renovation work is done, you will have different expectations and opinions about the work, as I did. Essentially, the work was good quality and yielded a good outcome. I do wonder what would have happened at end-of-job if some of the small details I had to point out, weren't addressed when I pointed them out earlier... some of this seems to stem from the different tradespeople overstepping on work that another would have 'preferred' to do at their stage of the project. Marc (the project manager) took care of all the issues and project scheduling very well. Mike the tiler did great work; would easily recommend. He took the brunt of the project work under wing and even helped install the add-on countertop we ordered from Sofien mid-way thru the project. He even pointed out some very important things that needed to be addressed. He and Marc took care of them. The carpenters/ general contractors did great work as well; very friendly. They did an excellent job repairing the floor and joists that were mutilated by the original home builder. Plumbers understood some details we pointed out and did great work. They had to return to site to replace a faulty pipe that did leak water. They were very reponsive with that. Marc offered several options for handling the minor damage from the leak. Electrician did great work, and used decent products. The final part worth feedback and review is the glass wall for the shower. We weren't aware at onset that the design with glass wall NOT to the ceiling would result in a less sturdy glass wall. There was an extra cost to get the glass to be floor-to-ceiling for the shower and we came to an arrangement for it to be so, but I would suggest that this be the default option, rather than the premium one. It would have also been better if they didn't dent my freshly finished ceiling during install process, but I digress. We love our new master bathroom now.. from ugly early 90s era, to modern 2018 custom.

Hired them to install carpet on the basement subfloor I had laid down, and to carpet the basement stairs as well. I chose them because the person who gave me the estimates would be the same person to do the work (I prefer this as opposed to salespersons from larger companies that also need to take a cut from the price). Abraham and Jay finished the job on my small basement within much less time than I had figured... about 2 hours total. They showed me the product before installing it, which is good. I'm really happy with the end result and now I can finish the basement by installing the baseboards and corner round. It will look great. They took care to handle all the spots where there would be no baseboard and wrapped around all the corners very nicely. I'm glad they ensured I was happy with the work, including my question about the threshold they installed. Very Pleased.
