Jeremy is a terrific contractor. He gets the work done — major and minor tasks of all types and makes sure it’s quality. Suggestions: • keep a video record of when workers arrive and leave. Is it time on site or travel time and time at suppliers? • If you take charge of and do the work on of some aspect of your job and don’t need Jeremy, don’t let him show up to watch the half-hour quotes. I did the research and met with window suppliers who were all outside different parts of Toronto. I inspected all of the options. They sent out quoters to confirm my measurements. Jeremy asked to be preset at the quotes. He basically observed the quotes. I went for Marvin fibreglass, the best, most expensive windows — 40 grand installed (by them, not Jeremy). Jeremy billed me a percentage of their fee. If I’d realized he would do that, I’d have said, “I’ve done the research, checked out the options and made the deal”. That would have saved me a few thousand dollars for days of work I did. The rest of it, all good. As I’ve said, good , good guy company. You do good work. You’re busy. Just be fair and both sides benefit.

I went through my notes for your project in 2015. I confirmed I passed on to you my exclusive 10% contractor discount from the window manufacturer. I did charge you my standard 8% markup which I charge for all windows on all of my projects. That means the net amount that you paid for your windows was still $400 less than what you would have paid if you dealt directly with the manufacturer. Most contractors would have kept the trade price to themselves, added 10% (or higher) markup, and charged you the total. I prefer to do this in a transparent way so you can see where your money goes. Please keep in mind charging a markup is essential to cover the multitude of operating expenses required when running a construction company.

Peter and Meredith have a great company! They are different than the national chains that are set up to sell you hardware and software. Peter gets into your issue and cares about solving it as if it were his own. It's like a puzzle and he's committed to resolving it. I had such a weird and exotic problem that after weeks of troubleshooting I'd given up. I tried online research, instinct, experience -- nothing could fix it. I called Peter up at dinner time. He didn't seem to mind. He became so focused on solving this that he jumped in and hit on an ingenious solution within an hour. I am so appreciative. They're honest and fair. Plus they care.

Thank you Michael for your feedback. We believe that it is all about our clients so if a call at dinner happens that is ok. Its also important to think outside the box. Technology changes constantly and can often be quirky. We will also always tell you like it is. "We manage your expectations with the truth" is a tenant of our business.

All Canadian Self Storage is a super-clean, top-quality storage facility. Many lockers are new, with locking metal doors. The large ones are roll-up, heavy-duty doors. The small ones are solid metal, sturdy doors. There are small lockers that start at $25 per month and huge, double-door lockers that'll fit the contents of an entire house. You can drive right inside and park on a clean, painted floor near your locker -- right at it if it's on the ground floor. There are security cameras everywhere and staff making the rounds on a regular basis.Prices are competitive, especially considering the quality. You can choose to up your insurance coverage if you're storing valuables, or minimize it for "store and forget" stuff. The elevators are large and built like tanks. There are large, strong dollies throughout. I've never had a problem finding one or two, but I tend not to go on moving days. The Weston Road location has U-Haul rentals and an assortment of packing materials available for sale. The staff are honestly cheerful and aim to please. They know me by name, which seems the case with many clients. It's what a storage facility should be.

Following the melt of the first winter snowstorm, I had a huge water problem due to old eave troughs. When Arthur heard about the living-room flood, he had Olti come to look at it an hour later. The crew came at 9 the next morning and installed amazing new eave troughs and downspout. Problem solved. The work was clean and really nice-looking, but most importantly, it fixed the problem. The crew were professional and, bonus, really nice guys. My next door neighbour asked them to replace his as well. They emailed pictures of his place, got an instant quote, that was very reasonable. He accepted and they did the work then and there.
