8/10

Fence One met my expectations on my new fence installation. They showed up on time, the owner Jeff answered all my questions in a very timely manner. The job site was clean and well maintained. They put a temporary fence around my pool during the week of construction. The work itself is good and I have recommended them to friends. Pros: On time, responsive to emails, friendly, competitive pricing, overall good work Cons: Being picky-a few split boards (from nails), damaged lumber used for a gate, some light black marks on a gate. Takes the shine off an otherwise near-perfect job. And remember, I'm being picky. Would I recommend Fence One? Yes I would. Background ========== My 30 year old fence needed replacement. We put in a pool last year, requiring a fence upgrade. We called for a few quotes, including Fence One. Jeff showed up, measured up the yard and discussed options with us. 257 feet of fencing is not cheap, whatever it's made of. He mentioned if we were splitting the costs with the neighbors (we were), he could invoice them directly for their percentage. This saved me from having to deal with the neighbors directly for payment. A nice touch. We decided on Western Red Cedar. We agreed on a price and a date to start construction. Three weeks later, the team showed up on time. They removed my existing fence in 90 mins. The old panels were stacked on a flat-bed and removed that morning. The rest of the first day was spent measuring the yard and digging the post holes. The post hole machine was not much larger than a lawn mower. They were careful, and avoided driving it on my new pool deck. I appreciate it. Day 2 involved setting the posts and pouring the cement. They took several days to allow the cement to cure in the holes, leaving the temporary fence in place on my property. On Thursday they returned to begin construction of the panels on site. On day 4 they built the rest of the fence (in the pouring rain, I'm told), completing things in the late afternoon. The job site was left neat and clean. They removed the old wooden fence and a chain link fence on the property. The job was completed as per the quote with no surprises. Being picky, I found a few boards split from the nail gun, a gate built with some damaged lumber, and a few black marks on my gate-front. Again, I'm being picky but these small issues did bug me. 98% of the work is perfect, and I expect it's better than most fencing companies. Ultimately, I would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Company Response

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your experience with Fence One. We carefully choose only to supply a premium grade western red cedar for all of our fence projects. Wood is a natural product and can split and crack during the installation and drying process. We do recognize this fact and we hand nail the entire fence and avoid using nail guns to reduce the marking and splitting of material. Your back yard turned out beautiful and thank you for referring us to your friends.
