I had about 6 or 7 quotes ranging from 5k-14k; this one came in around the middle of the range, although some of the lower quotes were for inferior materials or less work (less plywood replaced). Main reasons for choosing them were:1. Peter's honest demeanor and willingness to discuss and explain animal protection and ventilation design2. availability to start within a week or two (old roof was in very rough shape)3. reasonable price for the work quoted. He uses BP certified and warrantied materials and is WSIB insured.The crew was acceptable, but would recommend supervising to ensure that they do a thorough job, at least if there are any "unique" concerns or parts of the job. Peter comes by himself mid-way through to do some inspecting and detailed work like the ventilation.He noticed the bathroom fan ventilation ducts were uninsulated (code violation) and voluntarily went out to buy and install insulated ones himself before closing up the roof, free of charge. I happened to have noticed this already beforehand and had planned to fix it later but was thoroughly impressed with his initiative to go beyond the quoted work to do the job right without my mentioning it.My only issue was with his promise to come back and finish off cutting an extra vent hole in the soffit. It was consistent with his desire to do a proper job and I appreciated that he didn't charge extra for it, but it took almost 3 months of back and forth before he managed to come in and get the 30 minute job done. I understand that it wasn't a priority since he already had his money and had other things to do, but it was a big inconvenience and waste of my time.
