This company came recommended by another plumber when they couldn't come out to do the work for several days. The upstairs bathroom sink became suddenly clogged with no warning. This was after hours and we couldn't wait to have it fixed. Brandon was sent out a couple of hours after I called. The 7-foot mechanical/electrical snake was brought out and soon dislodged the blockage. A chunk of what looked like toxic waste plopped out of the drainpipe. Very longtime buildup, apparently. Everything was fully disinfected. Really, we couldn't have asked for a better resolution. The price was expected and well worth it, given the situation we were in. Definitely highly recommended for plumbing repairs, whether scheduled or emergency.

Thank you Chris for your review. Plugged drains can become a stubborn messy headache requiring the right equipment and proper touch to resolve. We're glad Brandon was able to clear this up for you. All the Best from E. Vaillancourt Plumbing

I met Dr. Moz nearly 10 years ago and he never disappoints. He can fix everything (cured copper heater, PEMF device, steam iron, dead laptop, colloidal silver maker, etc.) and I've proven it. This is the second time my laptop died for no apparent reason. Last time something melted on the motherboard. Ordinarily, I would've had to replace the entire thing. A repair would've been impossible. Oscar fixed it then and fixed it now. Different issue, this time involving one of the hard drives. Also, as my luck would have it, the amp on my speaker system blew after my having them since 2007. He fixed that too. Needless to say, Oscar is my go-to for anything that needs fixing. I live in Oshawa, but travel to his shop whenever I need to. I can't recommend his services enough. Hopefully I'll have better luck with my devices this year!

I met Max on Boxing Day, 2016. Our furnace, which we inherited when moving a few months prior, decided to suddenly die on us. I called every HVAC company in Durham. Only one answered: Max. He showed up a few hours later, removed the old furnace and installed a new one. Which we'll be forever grateful for and won't forget. This time I just wanted our furnace and humidifier checked. Sure enough, the humidifier filter was clogged up. And the thermostat's batteries needed changing. All minor, but it made a difference. Needless to say, Max has my highest recommendation. I've had some good luck on Homestars, but he takes the cake.

Kevin, the owner of the company, had been here before to assess the new vents we wanted installed in our newly renovated room. I kept his pamphlet and would remember that A&R specialized in duct cleaning. Two out of the three people in our home have dust allergies, which includes me. After living here for nearly two and a half years- and already having a UV-C filter on our furnace air intake, along with a high quality physical filter installed quarterly- we decided to go ahead with a whole house duct cleaning. We counted 10, but with the return air vents it turned out we have 14 in all. Sam and Kevin's son arrived as scheduled and did everything as expected. Less intervention on our part was required than initially thought. We didn't even know they had finished the upstairs rooms until I asked about them later. The whole job took about three and a half hours. We are all very happy with their work, wouldn't hesitate to call them again and highly recommend A&R to everyone.

We booked Metro Chimney to come to our home to do a much-needed cleaning, and to do an inspection for any other work needed. Owner Chris and his son Mitch showed up and did a fantastic job, complete with images shown of what was done. The chimney trap was practically non-existent and was replaced. The further work recommended is not at all urgent, but was thoroughly explained. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Metro Chimney to everyone in the GTA, including Oshawa where we are.

I had Dennis come over to test for and potentially remove what I strongly believed to be black mold in two locations in our home. It didn't take long to book an appointment. He said the only way to be sure was to test for it in both locations and use the outside of our home as a control. A few days later we received the results and they were negative. Other things are screened for as well. The results checked out, which was a big relief. I know that black mold is used by many contractors to scare people into paying high fees for remediation. Clearly, Dennis is completely the opposite. I highly definitely recommend him for all of your home inspection needs and mold detection/removal in particular.

The title says it all. One raccoon kicked off some shingles back around the end of March. I didn't think anything of it at the time. But when I came home one morning around the end of the first week of May, I saw a small racoon crawl into a space right by the area that had been disturbed earlier. It was clear a whole family had moved in there, given all the noise at dusk and dawn. I called a number of providers and booked 3 appointments. Troy answered first and booked first. I knew right away he was the guy and cancelled the other appointments. He installed a one-way door and the raccoons left. They haven't been back since- at least on the roof- and it's been about 3 weeks. Troy said he'd be back in a month or so to check on everything. I still see the raccoons on a regular basis, but they're leaving our house and roof alone. That's what happens when you respect the animals and an expert service provider like GTA Wildlife Removal and Pest Control, namely Troy in this case, also respects the animals. Troy showed me true disaster scenarios and I'm happy ours was relatively minor. I won't hesitate to recommend Troy or his company if anyone else runs into problems with animals or bugs. Absolutely top notch.

I've told Alex now 3 times that he's my good luck charm with respect to our appliances. One time I called him because my fridge stopped producing ice. He told me to check the water function. I did and it didn't work. Then, magically, it started working again. The next time I called, my dishwasher wouldn't work. He told me to deactivate the child lock. It was a surprisingly non-straightforward task. Problem solved. Now, the dishwasher again. The large arm sprayer was jarred loose by a tall roasting pan. I called Alex and told him I needed him to come by to fix something that would likely take him 30-60 seconds. He said he couldn't fit me in until 5 days later- and he answered his phone on Sunday, which was when I called. The next night he talked me through the arm's reattachment. It took me about 10 minutes to figure everything out. Problem solved. I offered to send him an e-mail money transfer, but he refused. Naturally, I will need him to come here for real one of these days to do a real repair. Until then, all I can do is make my highest recommendation for Man With a Wrench's services. You'll be very happy with the results.

My new neighbour across the street recommended Veinot Roofing after having work done on his newly bought house. He said he had been burned by roofers just like I have and that Veinot was not only excellent in their workmanship, but also in price and overall value. Minor repairs were needed on our roof, along with an inspection for the winter. A young opossum has been spotted often on our property recently and we wanted to make sure it didn't make a home in our attic during the cold months. We're very happy with the work performed and the assurance regarding the state of our roof. We also remember the roofing repair quote left in the kitchen drawer after we moved here in August of last year. It was for $3000. It just goes to show you how dishonest some can be, and how honest others can be. We highly recommend Veinot Roofing.

Basically, my previous contractor was incompetent and drywalled in the pipe leading to my front, outdoor faucet. Said faucet was not made out of freeze-proof material, so it has to have a shut-off valve for the winter months. Max did the work, cutting an 8x8 inch portion out of the drywall and installed the valve. He advised getting a spring-loaded panel cover from HD, which worked like a charm to put the hole out of site and out of mind, yet easily accessible when needed. We're very happy with the work performed and would readily recommend Max and Protex to anyone requiring plumbing repairs.

I first talked to Adrian over a year ago about wiring the whole house with CAT6. I didn't commit and he didn't come over to survey our property. At the beginning of October this year, it became necessary to install 4 security cameras due to threats to my own personal safety and the safety of my family. I bought the cameras and called Adrian, but he was all booked up for 2 weeks. I called back after that and scheduled the work. He was very up front with me and said he had never dealt with my particular brand before (Q-See). He also said that, due to the setup of my house, he couldn't run the cables from the cameras to my wiring closet. It took a few hours with his assistant, but he got everything done. It's just that I had to properly configure the Q-See cameras/NVR myself; I had to go to their site and download the full instruction and spec docs. There's very little in the way of instructions or documentation that comes in the box. They don't even tell you to go to their site. We now have everything running perfectly, but it took about a couple of days to get everything up to par. It didn't help that I had to leave in the middle of the job, either. I wasn't there when the job was finished and couldn't coordinate with Adrian for the setup and configuration. That might've saved me some time. In conclusion: Adrian is up front and very honest about what he can do and what he cannot. If you need a wiring and camera job, don't get any of the equipment yourself. Let him supply what he knows and is used to installing and configuring. I acted out of haste and for good reason. Everything worked out in the end. I would definitely recommend Adrian for everyone's camera and LAN wiring needs.

I saw the glowing reviews here of John and his company and filled out the appointment form on his website. I also called him up. I needed the kitchen faucet repaired, since it was so loose that it was falling off. I also needed the water heater valve replaced, since the one we inherited when we moved into this home in the late summer had gone bad and was leaking. I noticed the basement washroom sink was not draining properly, which I found out was due to the stopper control being broken. Lastly, I needed an inspection of an outside water spout that had been installed a few months ago. We couldn't find the shutoff valve, which will come into play when we're in the dead of winter again and bursting pipes are a possibility. The kitchen faucet was repaired in literally 2 minutes. John did this for free for my first visit, which was greatly appreciated. The hot water heater valve needed a weld for its replacement, but didn't take long for him to do. A high quality lever was installed instead of the cheaper round variety. The basement washroom sink needed a new stopper control, which was also replaced quickly. John recommended that the drywall of our newly renovated room be opened up slightly to locate the pipe going to the outside spout, and install the shutoff valve. We will have this work done over the next few weeks, so it's out of mind when the winter hits again. We are all very happy with the work performed and wouldn't hesitate to call up John and Dima Plumbing again for any jobs needed in the future. Highly recommended!

We moved to Oshawa from midtown Toronto in the late summer and were instantly put off by the water quality. Way too much chlorine, it felt like the traditional "hard" water and I could detect the hint of an "algal" taste. We begged the handyman to install the Aquasana kitchen top system from our last home and were relieved to find a filtered water function in the fridge until then. Fast forward 6 months. The Home Depot water test was finally returned. Then we received a call. I knew what to expect and had done plenty of research on biochemistry and the kinds of chemicals found in your average, municipal water supply. The representative tested our water, explained what was found (I already knew) and presented us with options. After my family members had experienced skin problems and even lesions following showers, we just wanted a solution. Needless to say, we were one of the easiest sales this company has ever had, mainly due to my knowledge of water pollution and the conventional methods used by municipalities to deal with deadly threats to mass human health. The skin problems were the clincher. We decided to implement a whole house solution, including water softening, purification, reverse osmosis, air purification and the ozonated cold water clothes washer cleaning system. With Rainsoft, you pay for quality and you pay for upkeep. That all depends on what contractor you're dealing with and All Water Solutions is the best. They scheduled a full install over the weekend. After finding what might possibly be asbestos wrapping a pipe that was to be tapped for the job, they hired a professional to remove it. On their dime. As for the results, we couldn't be happier. The water quality is nothing like we've ever experienced before. The tap water, alone, is like bottled water. And the reverse osmosis drinking water is fantastic. Showering is a whole new experience. I have been using coconut oil on my skin for the past 10 years, which helped with dryness. But I would always feel- and look- dried out after showering. With the Rainsoft system, the dryness is completely gone. I'm also losing at least 50% less hair after each shower. Both are game changers with respect to health and beauty. And I'm a man. My family is absolutely delighted with the system, as they were more sensitive to the municipal water supply via showers than I was. All skin problems have disappeared over the past couple of weeks since installation. I haven't even mentioned the ozonated cold water clothes washing system, which is amazing. We still use a bit of detergent, but it takes less time and far less energy than the old way. It's easily as effective and anyone can do it. Yes, including me who has always shied away from the washer. Men, definitely take note. I can't say too much about the air purification system yet, but I understand the UV-C light technology and am confident it'll make a major difference in our health over the coming months. We would all highly recommend James and his company for whole home water purification solutions. It remains to be seen how their followup is, but I am very confident that they fully back their products and will service them accordingly. Once you decide to go this route, my family and I can assure you: you will never go back. NEVER.

I first contacted Top Tech when my freezer kept heating up. It was more annoying than anything. Then it wouldn't cool down at all. Obviously an emergency situation. We scheduled a visit the following evening, which we couldn't keep because no one was going to be home then. Fast forward 12 hours later and the fridge had heated up as well. That evening the repairs were done and the cooling functions of both fridge and freezer were restored. The compressor wasn't working and was repaired. We were told to watch for a leak in the coolant, in which case we would need a new fridge. So far, so good. Top Tech responded very quickly, did the job and fixed everything perfectly, and for a very decent price. We are all very satisfied with the service, would hire them again and would recommend them without hesitation.

Worst case scenario: Christmas just passes and on midnight, Boxing Day, the furnace dies making a God awful sound. I immediately scrambled to put out numerous requests for quotes. The morning of Boxing Day I made followup calls. The only one who picked up was Max. So when he says he offers "emergency service", HE MEANS IT! He was here a couple of hours to later to assess the situation. He said he could replace the bad part, which would be expensive and not worth it given the age of our furnace (which we inherited after buying this house a few months back). It would also take a couple of days to get the part due to it being in the middle of the holidays. We opted for a full replacement, based on his assessment and the reviews read on this site the night before. We agreed on a price and scheduled that the full replacement be performed later on that day. Max estimated 7-8 hours in total for the work. He showed up about 4 hours later and worked until the night. The total time for the install came in just above 6 hours. He didn't ask for money up front. He didn't pressure me for the work. He didn't charge a huge premium to do the work on a holiday. And, last but not least, he didn't skimp on the actual, final product. The furnace, which I checked after the fact, is absolutely top of the line, 95% efficient. Guaranteed, with full warranty. There aren't many honest dealers out there anymore. And when you're under the gun, many people will take full advantage of your situation. Max is a rare one and I'm lucky to know him. I don't know what I would have done he didn't show up, or balked at the job when no one else even returned my calls or e-mails. I won't forget it. Max will service all of our HVAC needs as long as he's in business. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I've had Oscar fix something for me before- a very sturdy cordless phone that went bad. It wasn't a big job, but he performed it quickly and effectively. This time I got into some real trouble when my portable EdenPure GEN3 heater broke down after 5 years. The American company left me in the lurch, telling me no service dealers were in Canada and that no parts could be ordered to a Canadian address (despite selling it to me in this country). Fast forward to my actually getting the part I *thought* I needed... then having Oscar diagnose the problem as something completely separate. I returned it, then ordered another part... and had to do that yet again for the 3rd time. A perfect storm of circumstances, which Oscar charged me a very reasonable price for. Needless to say, I very highly recommend Dr. Oscar for any appliance jobs- simple or complex. He went the extra mile for me and I won't forget it. He is the very best you'll ever find and is a life saver. Extremely valuable on several different levels. Hopefully the next time I go to him, the job will be somewhat easier than this one was!
