We hired Wet Basements GTA for two separate jobs. Each job was paid in full ,bellow is an account: Waterproofing: We hired Wet Basements GTA to waterproof our basement from outside in December,2015.The guys came in and worked for 2 days .The outside job was finished(paid in full $5,000.00 cash). The basement: We also hired them to remove old and pour new cement and to level it off in our basement .Same guys come and this time worked for 8 days( paid in full $12,000.00 cash). The end result: When they poured the concrete, we ended up with approximately a three inch difference in height from one end of the basement to the other - the slope is very noticeable and not discrete at all. They also left us with a three inch step from the foyer of the basement to the main entrance - we wanted all one level (as per contract). By the time they finished the job: 1. They broke three windows and they have not repaired them. 2. They cemented the water meter wire to the floor. 3. They left the footings exposed. 4. They didn't professionally connect the floor to the bottom of the wall, so now the edges are rough. This is a problem because we cannot now lay tile along the edges where the floor meets the wall as the area is not smooth. 5. They failed to cement a number of areas, so there are clear holes remaining. 6. They left a huge mess in the front and back yard. This consists of tools ,garbage, cement mounds, cement blocks and earth. 7. They left and DID NOT RETURN OUR HOUSE KEY! What we have attempted: We have called and Emailed many, many, times. We have used various Email accounts and telephone numbers. Our efforts have either been a) blatantly ignored - no email contact or b)avoided - telephone contact. For the record, Zibby only answers the phone when it is an unknown number. The minute he hears my voice, he finds some excuse to hang up and he doesn't call back .I wanted to talk to him face to face and I tried to find him at his office (66 North Queen St. # 2 Etobicoke. On. M8Z 2C4).So I called the office and then I went to visit the office. The office is completely deserted and when I talked to one of the automotive shop people next door, I discovered that Zibby rented the office last year for about 3 weeks, and then, about half a year ago, he closed it down-contrary what it shows on his web site. In our defense, we assumed that this was a reputable company. We were kind to the workers: we offered them tea, coffee, juice, water and LUNCH a homemade meal - DAILY! We honored the payment schedule set up by Zibby even if at times it seemed odd. Our mistake: We should have checked with Better Business Bureau first about his company and we would have found out that there are already 5 files against him. We should have waited until the job was absolutely done to pay the last installment (20%), but Zibby asked for the money and gave us a story about how he had to go out of province and that he was in a hurry. We spoke to him three times and each time he promised to come, "Monday or Tuesday," to finish the job as per contract. Finally, he admitted that he couldn't come because he 'laid off his guys before New Year and he needs another contract before he can fix our job.' Ultimately, it means nothing to him that we have already paid for our job and that we cannot now continue with our renovations because of his sloppy work. About one month after the job was completed incorrectly ,and not as per contract which stipulates garbage removal and floor levelling, and after he had been paid in full, and after we made every effort to contact him, we opened up files against him with Better Business Bureau ,with Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and with Toronto Municipal Licensing & Standards (he operates without a license), he sent us an invoice which we had never seen before noting that he received payment via “cheque" for a job that we paid him in full in cash and for which we have bank withdraw stubs. Be very careful. Stay away!
