I have used Unionville Heating and Air Conditioning for the last 5 years, for annual heater and air conditioner maintenance. They send the same technician out to your house, twice a year, for maintenance. My technician, Jason, has always been on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. He keeps my HVAC systems in peak condition, and has recommended and performed repairs as needed. He applied for parts that were under warranty for me, and because they service the HVAC systems in my house annually, they don't charge a call-out fee (just the hourly fee for actual work performed) for repairs. I love that I can trust that it will be the same friendly person coming into my house every time!

I used Tip Top Trough's website to send them an email requesting service. I had previously tried to email/ call a few different companies, but either not received a response from them, or got an initial response, but never an actual quote or appointment time. Tip Top Trough contacted me quickly and sent me a quote for a minor repair (fix and clean an elbow joint that was leaking significantly during heavier rains). They had a lead time of a few weeks, but contacted me the day before they came. They came on time and did the work well. The actual people who came were young and not much of talkers- I never did get their names- but did the work quickly and efficiently. I would use them again for eavestrough work.

I first called Waheed at Pesticon about 2 years ago when I had issues with bedbugs. I had called another company who had serviced my house twice, with no success and limited customer service. I found Pesticon on Homestars and ended up calling them. I was very satisfied with the service- Waheed was very knowledgeable and solved the problem quickly. I ended up calling Waheed a couple of weeks ago to check my house because I thought I might have an issue again, but luckily Waheed checked and found no evidence of bedbugs, so I can sleep easy. I highly recommend them!

I have very limited handy-person skills, but decided to try tiling the kitchen backsplash. I went to Ontario Tiles to get some design ideas. I brought home several sample boards, and chose a colour tile that I liked. When I went back to the store, I received some great design ideas that were simple, creative, and that I think look really nice in my kitchen. The ideas given to me were exactly what I wanted. They also helped me to match the colour of grout with the tiles. When I actually put the tiles on, I had difficulties cutting some of the specialty sizes, but I went back and had them cut for me. Overall, I was impressed by the service and ideas, and would use Ontario Tile again.

I used Carson Dunlop to perform two home inspections when I was buying a house. The first house was about 12 years old, and the inspector was really thorough in his inspection and honest in his opinions. The house had not been maintained very well, so there were many problems with the roof, furnace, air conditioner, and outside wood rot- which would all have cost a significant amount to repair! They were really detailed in their analysis, providing estimates of how much longer those parts would last, and the estimated cost of repairs for those parts. In the end, we ended up not buying the house because of the significant repairs and costs necessary. It was crucial to have this information to make an informed decision. Carson Dunlop performed another home inspection for us for a different house, and we trusted the advice that they gave us, including things like changing a washroom outlet to a GFCI for safety reasons, etc.

I needed to order a cubic yard of 3/4" gravel stones to fill up the drainage area between my house and the neighbour's. I called around, and Fairgreen had by far the best prices for delivery. I got a cubic yard (around 2 tonnes) of gravel stones for $100, in a large closeable bag, INCLUDING delivery. When I called, the staff were courteous, and asked where I wanted the bag placed. They delivered the stones the next day at the top of my driveway, and even had the thoughtfulness to put it off to the side, so that I could still park my car in the driveway and garage- and I have a narrow, one-car-wide driveway. That really impressed me!

Shortly after I moved into my house, I had the air conditioner and furnace serviced by Unionville Heating and Air Conditioning. They had great appointment times, showed up exactly at the time that they had specified, and were polite and professional. Included in these two services, I was placed on their annual maintenance contract, which means that if I need to call them for any reason, I will only pay the hourly service fee, and not any emergency or call-out fees. I phoned Prestige to have my gutters cleaned, as they were overflowing and causing flooding to a section of my basement. The workers were out there the next day, cleaning all of the eaves-troughs and even dismantling two downspouts and reassembling them, since they were completely clogged. They were friendly, courteous, and professional, and I would use them again for any of their services!

I noticed bedbugs in my house and, after reading some reviews, decided to call Advantage. They have great phone service and seemed knowledgeable. My fee of $750, before taxes, included two services, two weeks apart, to my four-bedroom house. The first technician was professional, but merely came, sprayed everything, and left. The second technician took the time to flip over furniture and remove heating ducts to spray more thoroughly. However, 3 weeks after the first spray, I was still being bitten, every single night. I had done all of the preparations suggested and more- I spent 3 weeks drying clothes and putting them in plastic totes (and further taping all seams of lids, etc), vacuuming, steam cleaning, etc everything in the house. I also purchased a mattress encasement, so including taxes, paid Advantage $1000. After seeing absolutely no improvements, I decided to cut my losses and go elsewhere. For bedbug treatment, go elsewhere. Advantage's methods do not work, as they only spray an insecticide- they did not do a visual check for bedbugs, nor did they use any other methods. Bedbugs are increasingly becoming immune to insecticides, which may have been an issue here. $1000 went down the baseboard.
