This paint store is convenient to my house. The first time I went in, I was a little unsure as the owner seemed a little gruff. However, I have been in several times since that first encounter and he has been very helpful in matching paint and giving advice. I now buy all of my paint from here.
We had been looking for pendant lights for our kitchen. My sister-in-law had purchased great ones at IKEA but they were no longer available. We looked everywhere for a similar style and affordable price but everything was very expensive. We spotted Royal Lighting on a trip up to Yorkdale and stopped in. The sales clerk was very helpful and showed us exactly what we were looking for. Not only were they in stock, they were on sale! Next time I am looking for lamps or lighting, I will be back to Royal Lighting.
We bought a mattress on a one-day sale at the Bay Yorkdale. The salesman wasn't very knowledgable, which was frustrating but the mattress was comfortable and the price was right. We picked a date for delivery and were assured that changing the date would be no problem. We were having some painting done and needed to change the date. HUGE problems. Called the customer service center (in India) and was given another date. Stayed home that day but they show. Called (India) again and was told that the date I had book had not been a "firm" date. What? The service rep told me that because I had cancelled my first date I had to wait for a new mattress and it would be at least a month before we could get it delievered. Called the store and soon had another service rep call to schedule a delivery within the week. But when the delivery men arrived, they didn't have the split boxspring we had ordered and the mattress was ripped. They also left dirty handprints all over our walls. It took another week to get a new boxspring and mattress. For all of this hassle, the Bay gave us a $75 credit but that wasn't enough for us to ever consider bying furniture from them again.
We found Renaissance Painters on Home Stars and were pleased with their competitive quote. Jason was helpful in picking out colours. I was a little disappointed with their organization in setting up the job (mislaid our original quote, had to confirm the start date several times, etc.). The paint job itself was very good. Not perfect (some spots were missed, some rough patchwork) but a good job in a difficult space. I did feel like they rushed the touchups on the last day. The reason for the low rating was the quote. We had two quotes given to us before the job started, itemized by room and area (wall/trim). We decided to not do all the rooms and skim painting the trim. The eventual price- almost double the quote! That was quite a shock and we couldn't help feeling a little ripped off. So overall, I think this is a decent painting company but I would ask them to bring a painter in for the quote, so you know what you will really be paying instead of getting lured in by Jason's initial pitch.
We are very surprised with the rating, as we pride ourselves on 100% customer satisfaction. In fact, our customers don't pay a cent until the job is completed to their liking.
Our painters are the most organized, punctual and precise contractors in the city, and if for any reason our clients need better, we'll give them just that.
As for the quote, we provide one before any work is done. The quotes are based on labour and product. The quote is always negotiable.
