It took me well over a year to find a metal roofing company. London Eco-Metal was at least the seventh quote I'd gotten. I'd actually contracted with another company and paid over 50% in advance, and then they'd backed out because they didn't have a Toronto license. Other companies quoted an arm and a leg and I had the distinct impression they assumed that being a woman I wouldn't know any better. Finally, Eco-Metal came along. Kham Tran gave me the clearest sales spiel I'd heard, answering my entire list of questions before I even asked him anything. He brought samples, made it very clear what the installation process was, offered a very impressive warrantee policy, and then gave me a great price. I would have liked to have been informed about the delivery of materials and the starting date. I think they had the wrong phone number for me. But once I met the installation crew, they communicated clearly, did the work in a couple of days, and given how muddy the yard was with the wet weather, left the site fairly clean. I wanted the durability and environmental friendliness of the eco-roof, and I think I got that. The unexpected bonus is how great it looks. It really gave the house a facelift! I'm relieved and happy to finally have my beautiful metal roof. I got the Bravo profile in Jungle Green, and it looks gorgeous!

I have a Baxi Luna on-demand water heater and boiler that came with the house. I have had a lot of issues with it since I bought the house 4 years ago, and when the original installer advised me to replace it, I started to do some web research. Eventually, I found Belyea online and called them to come and give me a quote for a new boiler. They offered instead to send a technician to assess the system and see whether I really needed to replace it, since it is only 10 years old. After the technician's visit, David Graeme called me to follow up on the recommendations. He ended up coming over, and after looking at the system himself told me that the boiler itself was great, but because it had not been properly installed in the first place it was aging prematurely. Instead of replacing, he recommended that they re-install the piping, and put in an auto-feed and backflow. He said that the piping work could remain in when I eventually replace the boiler, which should have another 5 years or so. He explained everything in thorough and patient detail and I enjoyed our conversation. The installers ran into some frustrations because the boiler is in a very tight space, but unlike the previous company's technicians, they were always very polite and courteous. It is too early for me to tell if their work was successful as the heating is not on yet, but I enjoyed our transaction and appreciated their honesty in not selling me a boiler I didn't need.

I had dealt with other high quality environmental consultants in the past, but Lilja Palsson of LEAP was in another league--her price about 75% of what I had paid for air samples and report, the turnaround time shorter, the report more thorough, and she was very friendly and willing to offer support and advice. When I called on two subsequent occasions with different water issues, she recommended suitable courses of action and referred me to other service providers for emergency response (eg ServiceMaster and a private handyman). Each time I have called her, she has picked up the phone immediately, given timely, helpful and friendly support. I am so grateful to have her among my resources for the house.

Ernie explained to me clearly how he proposed to address my issues, and immediately hand-wrote a quote with clear descriptions of each component of the work. With others I have had to wait several days for the quote, and the work was not explained in writing. The typed invoice was similarly clear. He was also the only one to recommend repairing the existing augur on the chimney rather than replacing it with a pop-top: a cheaper and better solution, I think. David gave me clear answers about the scheduling and followed through with his promises. And Bill, who actually did the work, took time and very courteously and clearly answered my questions, did some additional tuckpointing when I requested it, and even took the time to test out my chimney by burning some paper. I will go back to them if I have similar work in the future. I enjoyed doing business with all of them and am comfortable that the job has been well done. Thanks!
