We needed my carpets cleaned before a sale and Kamran was very friendly, timely and helpful with the service. We needed 4 bedrooms plus our hallway done and his price was also fair. We would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Great workmanship and great price. Joe and his team did a great job. It was earlier a hazard to walk on the side of my house down to backyard especially when it was wet. Now it all looks great and is safe too. Joe and his team were excellent.

I chose 5 star for both price and professionalism. Their closet designs for my two closets were exactly what we needed, and Irena showed me both material samples and pictures of their past work. She didn't waste time either, recognizing we are busy. When we decided to move forward with them, Anton came by to do final measurements and scheduled us for the work. Since they are a moulding company, I asked for crown moulding quotes too and we added that also for two rooms. They estimated three days to complete the work and were instead done in two, which made us even happier.

I hired Bark Tree Service after a previous contractor I was about to use through Homestars - who by the way was a Best Of Winner - started playing games with the promised date to do my back and front yard trees, vines and hedge removal job. Rob had come over earlier for a quote, but I was a bit nervous by his Homestars rating. It doesn't make sense to me why he has less than 100% though, because everyone rates his 10/10. Anyways, Rob came by the same day I called to provide a quote, and when I called him back a week later he first gave me advance notice that he needed a few days to firm up the job, but expected to be able to do it on one of two days. Like clockwork, he confirmed the earlier of the two days when he promised, and his crew showed up perfectly on time the morning of the job. I appreciate that everyone on the team was personable and helpful in explaining what they were doing and providing suggestions for future upkeep of our property. I added a few more trees last minute to the job, based on recommendations of one of the crew, and Rob gave me a very reasonable quote to remove them too. They left our property in great condition a few hours later and I would both hire them again in a heartbeat and also highly recommend them to others.

John is a consummate professional and very friendly and considerate of his customers and staff. Upon receipt of my request, he visited my original house to scope out the extent of the pending job, before he made any recommendations on the amount of staff and cost required. He came back with a reasonable fixed fee and explained clearly the services he would offer and how he would bring a 5-man crew with two trucks for our larger move. Then, he communicated regularly several times over the weeks prior to the move, to make sure all was good, responding quick to my queries too. The day of the move, like clockwork, a few of his staff arrived early, and we were off to the races. John knows well how stressful a move can be for the homeowners, and was great at complimenting how we had done a good job with packing and preparing throughout the day as the team picked up and moved stuff around. Mid-day, we were ready to move the trucks to the new house, and off we went. Unloading the trucks was quicker than loading them, and the team were very kind to ask us locations in cases where we had forgotten to label boxes and items. They were also very careful with fragile items and a couple of kids' beds that could not be disassembled for the move, manoeuvring them perfectly up the steps to the right bedrooms. At the end of the day, we were tired - far less than the hard J&J team that did the hard work - but very satisfied with the job done. It was my first time moving after 17 years, and I'm not looking forward to doing it again, but if I have to, hope John's company is around to help again. Very strong recommendation from my family and I.

Nelson provided great service. He arrived on time, and got the job done both quickly and efficiently with his team. Definitely plan to use Sudbuds again in the future. We live on a ravine lot with some debris that accumulates slow and steady in the gutters and from what I can see out my window of the first floor work, they're now perfectly clean.

I've used the services of Releaf Group twice before and am considering them again for more service soon. Andrew and his team are very thorough and professional with their work and their prices are quite competitive. (I live in a house with plenty of trees and backing on to a ravine so I do need regular tree care services, and have only not used them once, when they were super-busy.) The first time I hired Releaf, Andrew removed to large ash trees in my backyard that had become infested with the ash borer, and he put a brace on a HUGE maple tree to secure its two main sections that branches out about 15 feet above the ground.) The second time, he came to our house after a wind storm had cause a very large branch from a willow tree in our front yard to fall precariously on top of our electricity wire, and was risking snapping the connection to the house. He quickly removed it, cut it into smaller pieces and again removed it.

Direct Windows and Doors had the best quote of all the 5 companies I reached out to for the work on my house. They were about $1,500 less than the next lowest quote, but I was a bit nervous about their lack of web reviews. To ease my fears though, Kosta gave me 5 past customers contact details and I called three and visited a couple who live relatively close by to me, and saw the great workmanship of his team. Both of the past customers had great things to say. I placed our order, and then we waited about 3 1/2 weeks for the manufacturing to take place. We also visited the Vinyl-Pro factory and were satisfied with their workmanship. The work was ultimately done in late May, over the course of two days. I needed to be a little flexible with the days Direct Windows and Doors wanted to work, but it was perfectly fine with me. They did the work very quickly and quite cleanly compared to other contractors who I have had work before in my house. To expect 100% cleanliness is a ridiculous expectation of customers, and to my pleasant surprise, there appeared to be one worker of the team each day dedicated to general labour and clean-up. The more experienced staff did an awesome job of removing the originally inappropriately installed windows in my home, and the retrofit install that was done to allow me to retain my existing wood frames was excellent. The workmanship was very good, and though I had my continual doubts that they would get done in two days, the project team surprised me with their attention to detail and speed. Kosta ensured there were enough members each day (3 on day one and 4 on day two) to get the work done cleanly and also speedily, with a focus more on the former. The team was also good at addressing some feedback and questions I had through out the work, so that there were no loose ends at the end of the job. We're quite pleased with the windows and new doors in our house, and I am looking forward to calling the company back to also consider some renovations needed in the house in the future.

I initally wrote a glowing review for Classique because I was so happy with their service, but they promised to fix any problems with my work after I had paid fully, and have not followed through and completely disrespect my time. The full background, so you can make your own judgment: We returned from dinner a couple of weeks ago and sadly discovered our upstairs washroom had flooded due to a leaky faucet, and penetrated the room below it with a fair amount of water. The ceiling had a large number of water stains and was sagging, so we knew we needed to replace at least part of it. Plus, I had to disconnect and throw out the shorted light fixture which had also filled with water. Leavon, the owner, came by in a few days to provide a quote, and was very thorough with describing my options and answering my questions. His quote was very competitive compared to the other 3 I received, and I valued that he was open to answering all my questions. A few days later, Classique started work on my ceiling, taking the entire existing drywall down, and replacing the old popcorn style with a flat ceiling. Aubrey worked fast but diligently and they put up the replacement ceiling drywall and mudded it the first day. Day two was dedicated to sanding, priming and painting, and my job was done at the end of it. They were done a day earlier than planned (I understand half a day's work was originally to be done on a third day), but Leavon promised that if I discovered any problems with the paint or drywall when I put in a new light fixture he'd come by and fix it. I also paid them then since I considered the work obviously done. I had a lot of clean-up to do a couple of days later given the amount of dust that flies around in such a job, but Leavon forewarned me about the same well in advance, so no problems with that. When I installed a new light fixture in the room though and discovered inconsistencies in the ceiling paint colour and texture here and there, things went down hill. I called Leavon and he was nice as usual. But over the next week and a half, he has made SIX appointments with me, and shown up for just one. Each time something comes up with one of the other jobs he is working on, and he promises a new time, and a couple of times, he didn't even have the courtesy to inform me he would not show up, despite my repeated messages to him. (The explanation was that he left the phone at home and there were problems with his car. I respect that we're all human and life happens, but do expect a courtesy call.) So he did make it for his forth appointment with me yesterday, but rather than doing any work, as I expected, he just confirmed the problems and said he would be back in the early evening. That evening, he texted to say he may or may not make it, and if not, he'd be here this morning. Again, a no show, and since I am sick of playing his games and disrespecting my time, I just texted him not to bother. Take my story for what it's worth and decide if you want to use Classique. Based on my original conversations with Leavon, I was so happy, and looking forward to hiring him again for other work needed in the house next year. Now, I definitely won't.

Roy is the most honest tradesperson I have encountered in my life, and phenomenal at customer service too. I doubt I'll ever have as pleasant an experience with any other contracting professional again. Everything other reviews state about Roy are accurate. He is honest, doesn't upsell you on unrequired services and will get the job done quickly, efficiently and at a great price. He answered all my questions through out the service with patience and care, and even told me not to waste my money when I worried about certain things like a recurrence of my draining problems. (I have calcite deposits along the sewer drain, and could use a power flush service, but he said it is unlikely to recur, so save my money. If it does recur, he'll recommend someone. Now a word of caution for all HomeStars users. I have been using the site for a few years now, and must advise you to not rely on just the order of contractors in the list when you do a search. There are many crooks out there, including some that are listend on HomeStars, and I have been suckered by a few. I've learnt that HomeStars is a great resource, but one needs to seriously read all the reviews and do proper research on it when choosing a contractor. The best ones will be the ones with impeccable ratings, but also a large number of them. For companies that have anything less than a 10 average, read their negative reviews carefully and quiz them on it. Í found Roy by his impeccable 10/10 rating, but then also reading all his reviews. And I've been suckered before by another plumbing company that is prominent on HomeStars, but always overcharges their customers based on this ridiculous book of standard prices that rip you off. Enough about that though. The morale of this story; if you're anywhere in the GTA and ever have a drain problem, go with Roy and Mayday. You can't go wrong.

Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

I'm updating an earlier review because of what I discovered after it. Let me start by saying the chimney cleaning service itself was good. But the amount of upselling an unnecessary incremental repairs Home Pro recommended to me makes me want to caution others about them. Joel told me that both my chimney was sinking and breaking apart, and was an immediate hazard to anyone on my property. Plus, my eavestroughs needed to be re-aligned because they were filled with "200 lbs of water" that would come crashing down in the winter from the weight of the resulting ice. The sales tactics for the extra work required on my roof were a bit heavy handed from head office. They originally provided a quote that was ridiculously high for the extra work, and when I said no thanks because I would want to do some research and get extra quotes, they kept coming down in price, eventually offering me a price less than 50% of the original price as a one time, never again bargain. I said no, and had the extra work recommended by Home Pro looked at by others over the next weeks. The chimney was indeed in need of replacement, but a brick mason told me it was not sinking, and so he rebuilt it the following spring for me along with other brick work around the house. And the eavestroughs were indeed clogged, but only because there was an obstruction in the downspout. A contractor I had over to look at it, kindly pulled the sponge-like material out of the downspout for me, and I heard all the water gush down. He said there was nothing really wrong with the alignment of my eavestroughs, and apart from aesthetics and age, they are fine. For this reason, I am really disappointed with Home Pro, and will never use them again. Based on the other reviews here though, looks like I am in the majority.

I found Dave's service through HomeStars after the last company we had our home ducts cleaned from disappeared. Dave/Julius is very professional, thorough and happy to answer any and all questions you might have about his service. He offered me a pretty good price that he had also given through one of the group deal websites. Dave and Markus were very thorough, and what I liked best was their honesty. I had asked Dave for a furnace cleaning as well, and he told me he's offer a complimentary check of the furnace first, and if it really needed it, then we could proceed with a cleaning. Since the furnace was new, when he inspected it, he found nothing warranting a cleaning, and did not try to sucker me into purchasing an unneeded service. We did discuss getting a potential HEPA filter in a few months, and it is clear he is looking into getting customers for the long-run. Assuming he'll give me as good a service and price next time, I plan to be one of those long-term customers.

Replaced a furnace and A/C that were over 20 years old, and the former of which, was on its last legs. First of all, Faheem is a great sales person. He answered my tons of questions and gave me good sound advice. No pressure tactics whatsoever. He laid out a great for me too, and let me take the time to compare the same Lennox equipment against competitors, before I decided to go with Cosmopolitan. Faheem had told me in advance that Cosmopolitan's technicians may choose to go out the other side of my house with the furnace venting and indeed they did. The techs arrived punctually on a Saturday morning and got the job done efficiently and quickly, consulting me whenever there were options or questions to be answered. The new furnace is working great, and looking forward to also using the A/C this summer. There was a screw up with Cosmopolitan's registration of my equipment with Lennox as some administrator got my name wrong - tired, I guess. But they've promised to fix it, and I trust them. (Need to follow-up with Faheem soon though.)

I got a quote from Zenic over the phone for increasing my attic insulation from R20 to R50, and he was the most reasonably priced of the companies with good rating on Homestars. He also knew I had to meet the deadlines for the Home Energy Audit rebates, so was very helpful with meeting a mutually convenient time, even though the season was very busy for me. Day of service, a team of two came to my house and neatly and thoroughly got the job done. I must add that when my energy auditor came for the follow-up he said he was quite impressed that the insulation was sprayed in nice and dense. Thanks for the great job Zenic.

Jean and George were both very friendly and you could tell they genuinely wanted to help with my problem before, during and after the house visit. So for customer service, I would definitely rank these guys very high. Quality of work and ability/willingness to answer my questions were all great. The sole reason for the 9 though is that their prices definitely are on the high side. Having done a leaky pipe repair in my furnace room a year earlier from Direct Energy, I know the Water Works price was almost double for what was pretty comparable amount of work. The desire to please the customer was much greater with WaterWorks, that's for sure, but is that worth the far greater price? You decide.

Hi Ali;

Thank you very much for your input.I am not so sure that the work that we did was the same as Direct Energy. But,if you were to shop and compare the cost of the job that we did you would find that our prices are very much in line with everyone else's and sometimes even lower.

Thank you from all of us at Waterworks Plumbing and Drain
