We hired Ray to do a very large job in building am in-law suite in our walk out basement, complete with a full kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom, living room, and dining area. There was an existing in-law suite when we bought our home but it was dated and clearly done by a “Johnny Handy-man”. We met with several other contractors but after having Ray referred to us and seeing his review on Homestars we decided to meet with Ray. After only a few minutes we felt confident Ray was the right professional for the job, and luckily for us he never disappointed. Ray spent several hours through several meetings with us determining the appropriate design and layout and was very respectful and encouraged that there is no need to rush as he wanted us to have the in-law suite we envisioned but also was able to provide several ideas, concepts and pictures of prior basement apartments he had worked on in the past. His quote, timeline, and products/methods he would use to finish our basement were very detailed and he was able to provide quite the definitive schedule. Most importantly, as the project went on there was no surprise costs, every step of the way, any additional asks or needs Ray addressed and made us fully aware if we would incur extra costs or even save some money. There was some unforeseen risk as it turned out after demo the basement floor was severely unlevelled – Ray was able to adapt, secure a quote for the additional work and talk about other options to save us cost, time, and effort. The best thing about this is that Ray told us about all the potential pro’s and cons of either not correcting this or simply “patching it up”. He recommended doing it the right way, and again we are so happy with the finished product, re-pouring concrete for our basement floor was essential to amazing finished product we ended up getting. Ray was easy to get a hold of if you had questions and always responded to calls/texts in a timely manner. The crew always arrived on time and left things neat and tidy at the end of the day. Above all Ray and his crew were trustworthy and it was a pleasure having him work on our home! We cannot say enough good things about him and the amazing work that he and his crew did! His attention to detail is impeccable and you can see the quality of his work in the finishing touches. Not only did he do a good job, he went above and beyond our expectations. The cost was right on budget and on time. True to his word. Will definitely be calling him in the future as his work ethic, craftsmanship, and professionalism are outstanding.
