Was looking to have siding installed around 4 window bays in our home. All Pro Metals was responsive to our request for a quote. The quote was within our budget. Tris and Octavio had great communication and very responsive to emails. Octavio came by before the project started to provide colour samples of siding and described in detail the work to be done including leveling the window bays with insulation prior to installation of the siding which would increase R value, aluminum capping and working around some external speakers under two of the windows. There was a minor delay of a few days from the originally planned project start date, but communication was excellent and the date adjusted easily. I had no idea how siding was installed and when I watched Octavio work, I realized how meticulous and how much attention to detail needs to be applied for siding installation from bending aluminum caps, sizing and cutting vinyl. Octavio demonstrated great attention to detail cutting and installing the aluminum caps and frames and even worked around some of the lighting and speakers under the windows. We were very pleased with the finished work and recommend Octavio and the team at All Pro Metals for anyone considering siding installation for their home.

Gold Seal Caulking was a great company to deal with. Highly professional organization. Professionalism starts at the initial communication: 1. I emailed for a quote through Homestars and got a phone call that evening. 2. All emails were responded to within 24 to 48 hours (often sooner). 3. Mike came out for quote that week and provided a detailed quote. 4. We discussed a work date and set it. Professionalism is confirmed by: 1. Sticking to the quoted work date (fortunately, no rain that day to delay the caulking). 2. Team showed up on time that day (and some members showed up a little early!) 3. Quality of the job: they removed old caulking, used foam backing rod and used high quality silicone caulking. 4. The appearance of the new caulking was incredible and the crew not only did the windows and doors but also vents and exhaust pipes. 5. Job was completed within the day and cleanup of all old caulking done - was spotless. Mike, Eddy and the rest of the team at Gold Seal Caulking are highly recommended. Be wary of lowball quotes, they certainly won't meet up with the high quality of materials, workmanship and communication from Mike and Gold Seal Caulking!

What could this company do to improve their services?
None!
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Make sure to ask any company that you are seeking a quote for caulking if they actually remove the old caulking. Avoid any company that says they can just caulk over the old stuff - you'll find that the new caulking will not stick very well, but ends up earning that company more money because they've saved the time from removing the old caulking.

We hired College Pro Painters to do some exterior painting. The quote was the lowest of all the 3 we requested. We had a crew of about 5 or 6 students come to paint the exterior of our house over 2 days (rain delayed the painting). I'm always glad to support students early on in their careers - however, the completed job was OK but had some deficiencies including interior spackle used to patch up a rough spot in my garage doors. I suspect with professional painters this would have been repaired properly prior to painting. It's not that their taking shortcuts, but college students have limited experience with other aspects of home maintenance that impact how they "repaired" and painted spots around our home. This particular franchise in Markham was clean, respectful and had good communication. Since our home really just needed a maintenance coat of paint I didn't opt for the more expensive pro painters - however, if I ever needed a more complex job I would likely go with another company.

Arrived at Golden Electronics at this location about 15 minutes before closing - they were very friendly and provided me sufficient time to check and evaluate the TV I was interested in. They walked me through the features and gave me an excellent price. The store stayed open for me for almost 45 minutes after I arrived - great service and great pricing!

We've used Wil-Can to move in the past. They are very reasonably price...but incredibly professional! No damaged goods, they moved a lot of items out of our old home into the new one and were great at asking us questions about where items were to go throughout the move. I would use them again and recommend them to others. English may be their second language, but professionalism speaks volumes!

Met with one of the owners, Kevin, at the store - he explained to me clearly what the difference was between the rubber belt and chain drive openers they sold. Also explained the difference between the "pro" models they sold vs the "DIY" versions sold in big box stores. Great communication with them. Price was reasonable, service was exceptional - Brandon S. came to do the install, was professional, installed quickly and solidy, and took the time to explain everything afterwards. Will definitely go back to Markham Garage Doors when it comes time to update/upgrade both our garage doors!

Thanks for giving us the time to explain what you get for your money. As you are aware not everything is created equal and ussually it costs a little extra to get something that is far superior in build quality and reliablity. We sell only the best products that we can stand behind and as you will find out our door opener will last over twice as long as the one that you buy at a big box store. Thanks again for your business and enjoy your new opener

We bought a washer from Quan's in 2008 when our old one failed and flooded our basement. We did some shopping around and Quan's had the best price on the Whirlpool Duet Sport model. Service was okay; knowledge level was sufficient but not extensive. Offered an extended warranty but didn't really hard sell us. Delivery was on time with no problems; the delivery guys hooked it up and took away the old washer. The machine worked fine with no problems - there was no opportunity to follow up on any warranty service as some of the other reviewers here have talked about so I cannot comment on it. We needed a replacement dryer recently and the only reason I didn't buy at Quan's is that I found a much cheaper floor model at big box store.

For our basement renovation, our contractor sent us to Alliance Flooring to select our laminate. They were also the installers as well. We were please with the job that they did. Lehl was fantastic at explaining the different types of laminate available and underlayment as well. The installation was clean with no problems. Would easily recommend them to anyone considering installing laminate flooring (or any other kind of flooring in their home)

I spoke with Joe over the phone after reviewing and calling duct cleaning companies here on HomeStars and seeing the local "MoneySaver" home service coupon advertising flyers. I was impressed with his level of communication and professionalism over the phone. Josh was the technician who came to our home to do the actual duct cleaning. He was on time, respected our home and our kids (no easy task!), went about his work methodically and professionally. He did an excellent job and left our ductwork very clean! I often ask folks who come into our homes how they like working for their companies ('cause this gives me good insight into how good a job the company does overall - good companies that make sure their employees are happy (either through pay or training) will result in employees that take pride in their work, and ensure that a job is well done). Josh certainly did a great job and this reflects well on him and on the DialOne. You may see other companies advertising $99 duct cleaning - don't fall into that trap! They WILL upsell you or charge you for extra vents etc. Call DialOne - their quote is their final price and you can rest assured that you won't be scammed for a ridiculous upsells (like furnace replacement etc.) I'm glad I did.

This was our first big renovation and Mike and his team at Sonoma Contracting took much of the stress and worry away during our basement renovation. The key to our experience was that Mike's communication is excellent and I know that I can get a reply from him very quickly by email or phone no matter how small the questions. We were treated with respect and appreciated his attention to detail. Mike made sure everything was built up to code and the basement passed all inspections. He worked with us to make suggestions to our layout design that ensured we maximized our living space. He was the only contractor who first looked at the piping and ductwork and made immediate suggestions to relocate (as part of the estimate) to maximize ceiling height. Details in terms of trim, post coverings etc. were exceptional. He focused on making the basement a truly comfortable living space and details like moving the vents down to 12 inches off the floor (instead of leaving them in the ceiling) really impressed us. Mike would personally inspect the work after his subcontractors completed their work and would bring them back if something needed correcting. We have 2 little kids at home and this took tremendous stress off our backs so that we could spend time with them instead of inspecting every little bit of work by his subcontractors to ensure it was done 'right'! I've had friends who have finished their basements and had to spend their own time chasing the main contractor and subs and arguing with them to get the little things fixed - no such hassle with Mike and Sonoma! We've had friends take a look at our basement and all were impressed at how high the ceilings were after the renovations were complete and how great the job was. I think I've figured out the secret to the success of Sonoma Contracting: not only does Mike keep the homeowners happy they keep their subcontractors happy too! Every person I talked who worked with Mike and his team praised him for his communication, punctuality and professionalism...even the flooring guys (Alliance Flooring - who are also highly rated on homestars) commented on how great he was to work with. What it boils down to is that we now have a beautifully renovated basement with as minimal stress as possible thanks to Mike and his team at Sonoma - we would highly recommend them to our friends and family.
