Larry replaced the main shut off valve in my basement. My plumbing tale of woe is long and painful....but needless to say WaterWorks saved the day - and my basement from the eventual flooding that was bound to happen. A little on the pricey side - but I'm happy with the work - and the level of responsiveness and quality of workmanship. A few bucks today certainly saved me from a lot more bucks tomorrow....

This is a two part issue...the first leads to the second. It'll make sense once you read it. Our GE Profile fridge wasn't very cool for several days...so I called Sears. They came when they said they would...and diagnosed the issue as a burnt out fan motor. Ok. No problem. A new one was ordered - and installed within a few days. I'm happy thus far. Several months go by...and the fridge starts making a wonky grinding kind of noise. I call Sears and they are able to send someone over right away. So far - so good. So...the repair guy empties out the fridge and takes it apart...only to discover that there is a lot of ice build up....and it's starting to impede the fan blade. The solution? Remove the motor....and pour a bunch of hot water to melt all the ice. I paid for a service call....and repair time to watch a guy melt ice? Well. Ok...if it works...it works...and it doesn't cost me any additional parts. I guess I'm okay. A week later? I am not ok. The fridge is making the same funky noise....so I open it up myself and discover that yep....lots of ice build up. I employ the same tactic the repair guy used....but I was really mad that I paid over $85 for a 'problem' to be fixed...only to have it happen again within a week. I felt ripped off. So...I called Sears...and told them the deal - and that I wanted the labour portion of the service call refunded. Not the money spent for having th guy show up - that's a standard fee...and he did show up. I wanted the money back for the non-repair issue. What a joke! The Sears call centre people are the most aggravating human beings in the world to deal with. I told them time and time again that I didn't want yet another guy to come out. They obviously couldn't fix it...so I didn't want them in the house. Besides - I can melt ice...it aint' hard....and I have better things to do than wait around during a 3-4 hr service window for someone to show up. Sears out right refused to do anything for me. I was on the phone for nearly an 3 hours (over the span of a few calls)...and kept getting passed along from person to person. My apologies to the last person I spoke too that day....I finally lost it - and told them right off. But after hours of getting jerked around - I had had enough. So. I slammed the phone down. And thought...now what do I do? My fridge is messed up (it still is by the way...I have to defrost it every week now)...and I got ripped off! So....I posted some comments on Sears' twitter feed...and on their Facebook wall. Got some more Mickey Mouse responses....please send us your info - and we'll look into it. Yeah. Sure. Because you're better than your call center? When I get mad - I get on a mission. I went straight to the top. I found out the name of the CEO from the Sears annual report....and I called him directly. It's easy to go through the switchboard when you have the spelling for the name you're after. Sadly Dene Rogers didn't answer my call....but I did leave a calm message detailing my complete and utter dissatisfaction. The CEO's admin asst' called me within 2 hrs to refund the portion of the money I was looking for. Would I recommend Sears? Maybe. Kind of. Not my first choice. I still have to fix my fridge myself every week or so...and I was really torqued at the level of frustration and BS I had to go through to get a partial refund. I also cancelled my Sears card....they'll have to make a pretty good offer to get me back on one. Way to go Sears. The cost of reaquiring me as a customer is certainly going to be more than the $86 I was looking to have refunded. For the $86 it cost you...it'll cost you $100s now to ever get to me get a Sears card again. Do you guys even understand lifetime value of a customer? And the cost of a cheesed off customer? Get with it! Or move over for a retailer that gets it.

A friend of mine suggested that I give Tony Vaz a call when I was having concerns regarding some of the sockets in my basement. They weren't working - and based on the experiences of having already fixed some pretty messed up work in my house by the previous owner....I was a little worried. I called Tony and we quickly set a date/time for his arrival. He showed up as promised - and was quickly able to determine that the problem wasn't as bad as I had feared - and he only fixed what needed to be fixed. I was concerned that we were going to have to break the drywall and run new wiring. Not at all...just swapping out a few badly connected sockets was all it took. I applaud Tony for his honesty. Electrical work isn't my thing...so he could have easily taken me for a ride - and done all sorts of work that I didn't actually need. He didn't. He just fixed what needed to be fixed - and charged me a fair price. I recommend Tony to anyone in need of a decent, honest and hard working electrician. His number is 416 616 9837

I had a bad wasp problem that I simply wasn't able to get rid of on my own. I bought nearly every wasp insecticide that Home Depot had to offer....short of a flamethrower. Try as I might - I couldn't get rid of these little demons. I called Leap Pest Control - and after explaining the situation....they explained how they would eradicate them. So - I had them come out and take care of the problem. 2 guys showed up - on time, and ready to go! They were able to assess the problem...determine the entry points (they were getting behind the bricks through some cracks in the mortar)....and quickly went about taking care of the situation. They showed me what they did, how they did it....and promised to come back should the wasps make a return. I'm happy to say the wasps didn't come back...and I was very happy to be able to sit on my deck - and not be bothered by wasps anymore! Thanks!!

A friend of mine used Cornell Roofing...so after getting 6 quotes from other companies - I elected to give these guys a call. I was impressed with the work that was done. Cole and 4 guys showed up on the day we finally scheduled in (bit of a weather delay...but what can ya do? It's weather....no one controls that)....and quickly got down to business. My roof was quickly stripped...some old wood was replaced...and the work was done as per my requirements. The job couldn't be completed in one day...it was winter after all - so daylight is at a premium. Cole showed up the next day as promised - and finished off the roof. The clean up was pretty good....but with it being winter, and there being snow on the ground....I'm sure I'll find some bits and pieces in the spring. That doesn't bother me at all...and it isn't a reflection of the work. Cole said if I wanted someone to swing by in the spring to clean up...that all I needed to do was call him. From what I've seen....it looks like an awesome roof! Call Cole on his cell....he's a busy guy - so you won't get him in the office.

I had York West redo my driveway after I had my sewage connection replaced due to root issue. I called these guys based on the fact that a friend had used them, and the fact that they do nearly all the driveways in my area. I wish I had known about this site first.... Issues with the job: - They were totally careless when they removed the existing driveway. It seems the ripping out of a phone line is no big deal. Unless of course you need your phone line to do business.... - They were actually able to damage my front porch - and never bothered to repair it. Even after I complained. - They didn't actually put down the required depth of asphalt that was agreed to. In spots the asphalt it only 1 inch thick. - They didn't remove all of the old material at the back of the drive...they just put a thin layer over top. One year later? It's failing. - They paved over one of my clean outs for the mainline. They said they'd come back and mark it so I'd know where it was....still waiting Remo. - Remo is a great, slick, smooth talking salesmen....and boy - did I ever get sold. If you need a new driveway - don't call these guys. The price was reasonable I suppose - but the quality of the work was subpar.
