Our water heater stoped working and since we have been renting it from Enercare we called them for service. I should mention this is the first time ever that we had any trouble with it. The Enercare technician Ivan seemed to be in a bad mood from the moment of his arrival, our questions were met with a passive-aggressive attitude. He stated before even touching it that the water heater is very old and needs to be replaced. He replaced the copper coil and subsequently the water heater seemed to work well. He stated however that the CO emissions are too high and turned it off, attaching a Red Tag, told us we need to buy another one. As the measuring device he used seemed to keep alarming even when not in use, we have asked if perhaps something is not wrong with it - he answered that Enercare “pays through their nose to have it calibrated yearly, and it is valid until September". As the water heater was checked relatively recently by Enercare as part of the maintenance and we were told at that time that the emissions are way below cut off, we have asked for a second opinion from another HVAC company. This technician inspected it very thoroughly, checked the CO emissions which were found to be 6 ppm (which is way below the 100 ppm that the Enercare technician stated they are). We are extremely disappointed with the dishonest service we have received form the Enercare technician. We paid approx $23 per month for many years for the rental, we think now those were wasted money, as it seems that in order to have a proper service we had to pay another company for this. In the 15 years that we lived in this house all Enercare has done for that fee is to have it checked once as maintenance. Again, we would have expected that at least the one time we needed their help they could have provided an honest service. If it wouldn’t have been summer and hence the perspective of cold showers not so daunting, and if we wouldn’t have known that the CO emissions have been relatively recently way below the limit, we might have been fooled into buying or renting a new water heater from Enercare - the technician did his best to present the benefits of this. Yes, the water heater is old but it is working and if we decide to change it we prefer to do so after a thorough research and without being falsely pressured into doing so.

I cannot say nice enough words about Sam and highly recommend Climax Heating and Air Conditioning! In a world where dishonesty and the rush to make money is the norm, he and his company shine through their honesty, thoroughness and knowledge. Our water heater stoped working and the Enercare technician stated that the CO emissions are too high and turned it off, telling us we need to buy another one. As the water heater was checked relatively recently by Enercare as part of the maintenance and we were told that the emissions are way below cut off, we have asked for a second opinion. Sam checked the water heater thoroughly, was extremely honest and did not try to oversell things, gave us excellent advice. He was polite and respectful, punctual, careful not to leave any dirt behind, friendly and more than willing to answer our questions. Again, I cannot say enough nice words about him. The water heater works well, CO is 6ppm (not 100, as the Enercare technician stated) and we did not have to buy a new water heater at this time. Thank you, Sam! We highly recommend you and your company!

We had estimates from 5 companies, all with excellent reviews on Homestars and we are very happy that we chose Boston Roofing. We think they stand head and shoulders above other more well-known and reputable roofing companies and we can say only very good things about them. Brian came to give us the estimate in 24hours after we called, explained in great detail what they would do including showing us pictures he took of our roof. Carlo spend a lot of time explaining us the options and we were able to see samples of all the materials that were to be used - from the shingles to the vents that were installed. Their pricing is competitive and they did not sell more than was needed. The company is truly family owned and operated; Carlo's two sons were part of the crew that installed our roof. They booked the work to accommodate our schedule and came for the installation on the date and time it was scheduled. They were polite and courteous and worked with care, protecting the area around the house and left the grounds spotless at the end. They did an excellent job and it was a pleasure to have them do work at our house. Thank you Carlo, Brian, Alex, Luis, Marco, Nathan and Lucio! If all the contractors would be like you, homeowners would have less grey hair !

We obtained quotes for the garage door from 5 different companies; we found the information that Chris gave us very honest and very helpful (told us about different products available on the market and how they compare whereas the rest of the companies just tried to sell us their one product). We exchanged a number of e-mails and phone calls to have questions answered before deciding to choose them and Chris was always prompt and nice. We installed the door in the existing frame and this required low headroom tracking; a couple of the other companies we obtained quotes from described semi-apocalyptic scenarios about having this done, having to remove the entire storage area above the garage door, etc. and seemed not to be sure how this can be done. When Chris came to give us a quote he seemed to know exactly what he was doing, and the installation was without any incident. Chris and Andrew did the installation at the date and time that we agreed upon and it was a pleasure to have them in our house. They did not have the hardware we wanted on the installation date, offered to install a more expensive one that day at no extra charge and, since we preferred the one we had chosen initially, Chris came specially 2 days later and installed it. Everything was left clean at the end. The door functions very quietly and we are very pleased with it. Overall a most pleasant experience, we will recommend them to all our friends.

We bought our front and side door from Home Décor at the end of 2012. Overall the quality of the door is good, the installers did a good job and the salesman (Joe Gerring) is probably one of the most skilled and pleasant to deal with that we have ever encountered. We have to state that all the workers that we came in contact with were very polite, worked with much attention and cleaned the area at the end of their work. We did not place a review on Homestars until now because we were not entirely satisfied for the reasons we mention below; the reasons we are doing it now is that we have heard from 3 separate individuals that the salesman is though giving us as positive references and we do not think this is 100% correct. We had a few issues with our doors. First – we had asked that the glass part should be laminated glass, for security reasons, and this is how it had been written on the contract. When the door arrived we noticed that on the glass itself it is stamped “tempered” though. At that time the salesman reassured us that he will bring written proof that it is laminated. Despite repeated requests in this direction this did not happen and the last thing we were told by Joe is that the owner (Tony) refuses to provide written information that the glass is laminated, saying that “if anything happens they are insured”. Secondly, which is minor compared with the first, on the contract it was mentioned that the 2 new doors and the garage door would have the same key – which ended up by not happening on the installation day. Several weeks later they sent somebody to fix this, but despite the gentleman’s effort, they did not work, so we gave up. Thirdly, we bought a very small window (1ft x 1ft) for our cold storage room, the manufacturer did not include the correct sliding mechanism railing, it took several successive visits to fix this problem. And lastly we did not like how the payment issue was handled: we were told by Joe that upon receiving the door, when the truck is outside, he will ask for our credit card number as an insurance. I have told him clearly that we will not pay the full amount in advance, that we would like first to see the job done properly and pay the outstanding amount once the job is finished (we paid a deposit of about 33% when the order was placed). When the installation was finished I have given them a cheque, only to receive that back in a few days, when I was told that the full amount has been charged to my credit card (for which not only I did not give permission, but specifically requested not to). Despite all of the above we have heard on 3 separate instances that the salesperson is boasting to other potential customers about the sale to us (to one of our neighbours, one of my wife’s work colleagues and to a complete stranger, to whom the salesperson gave our home phone number without even bothering to ask us if we agree to speak with that person!). We found this very irritating, especially given the fact that he knows we are NOT satisfied. Also if we are provided as references perhaps one should ask us first if we agree – the contract does not mention our permission to broadcast that we have new doors at our house.

We wanted to install flooring in the basement to match the rest of the house; we have Mirage hardwood in the house, so we went for engineered same product for the basement. The advice we received in the store was great - Karesz is very knowledgeable and patient. It was a painless experience - from selection to finish. The timelines were exactly as discussed with Sharon, who managed the whole project flawlessly, coordinating all its aspects, from ordering the materials to the installation date. It was not the easiest job - we installed glued cork and then glued engineered on top. Gabor, who did the installation, listened to what we wanted, was very courteous, paid attention to all details, was extremely punctual and left the house sparkling clean when he finished. Overall did an excellent job, we could not be more pleased with how our basement looks right now. Thank you, Darmaga! We will recommend the company to our friends.

We went to Kingsway initially looking for a solution for our basement flooring and blinds. Alex spent a lot of time with us, exploring various options. What impressed us tremendously is the fact that his advice was truly based on what was best for us, that he was extremely honest in his advice. We bought all the blinds for the house from them - again he and Maria were very patient in showing us all the options. Alex was very careful in discussing all the details with us. Everything went perfectly smoothly, from the selection, to the measuring and instalation, which Alex has done. The company who manufactured the blinds sent in error a different shape of valance, Alex followed up with them the same day and corrected the error ASAP. The timelines for this project were exactly as Kingsway said, Alex was very punctual and was very careful to keep our house perfectly clean when he did the instalation. Price was better than the quotes we got from other big competitors such as HomeDepot or Lowes or BlindstoGo. Overall the best company to deal with! We will deffinitely return to them and warmly recommend them to all our friends.

What could this company do to improve their services?
EXCELLENT service, we cannot think of anything to improve. Alex deserves a 10+
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
They have a wide selection for flooring (carpets, enginnered, laminate, vinyl, etc) and blinds. Have your rough measurements with you when you go so that you can get an accurate estimate.

We would suggest you stay away from this company. We had rented from Red Bins a 20yd bin to dispose of the hardwood we had removed during our renovation project. The bin was dropped off on the agreed date and time and we paid a deposit of $400 cash. We were told that once the container is removed and weighted, we will receive within 4-5 business days a statement and if appropriate a refund. We had the bin removed 2 days after drop-off. The rental for the bin was $150, and the price per tonne $95. The bin was filled with old (1/4" thick) hardwood we had removed, some 3/4" hardwood and 5 hollow doors, estimating the total load at 1.5 tonnes, which would have costed roughly $300. 3 weeks after the bin was removed, since we had not received any statement, we e-mailed Red Bins and were told by Anthony " Sorry that this invoice hasn't gone out yet. Since it was a cash sale it was in a different queue.Your total bill was for $440.02. You have a balance owing of $40.02. Please give us a call to make payment arrangements." We have e-mailed back asking them to send us the statement and proof of weight and haven't heard back from them at all, 2 weeks now since we e-mailed them. After getting burned we found an article in The Star regarding this company ( we are attaching the link) date/timehttp://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/818931--dumpster-king-s-company-just-a-cellphone-and-website

We had carpenters in our home before for our renovation project, so we are able to compare CSR/Peter with others in the same trade. We can clearly say that Peter was the best of them all.Peter answered our calls promptly and was able to accomodate our very tight schedule. He started the job on the day he said he would and worked diligently every day with no interruptions until he finished the project. He did an excellent job, is very attentive to details, took great care not to damage anything and kept the house clean during his work. He is a man of his word and really strived to make us very happy with the results of his work. He does not rush, would rather measure twice than make any wrong cut. We will definitely recommend him to all our friends and call him back for our next project. On a personal note, thank you Peter for not forgetting to e-mail us the kourabiathes recipe.

Alex and his crew worked in our house on 2 different occasions - first installing potlights in the hallways and then in the family room. Not only he did an excellent job, but he did it with care for the rest of the house, and left the house clean when they left. The second job he did it so that he accomodated the schedule of the other contractors. He answered all our questions and gave us sound advice. Always returned our calls or e-mails. He is an onest, reliable person and I only wish that I would have only contractors like him ! I will recommend him to all our friends.
