This store has the very best pricing for lighting, but for the Murray Feiss Brand only. After more than two dozen purchases, I am very pleased. Most are slightly older stock, but some are just two years old and are not dated at all.
While the showroom is airy with a great selection, it seems prices have gotten higher recently as the clientèle grew. This is inevitable - lower prices are based on an item sitting longer (loses 15% per month). I bought very many pieces here, but the experience doesn't seem to be what it was anymore. Still, worth a look as you don't know what you will find!
A lot of the stalls seem to sell similar things, and the focus tends to be on smaller items. But if you are looking for porcelain, silverware, jewellery, glass, books, you will not find a greater selection elsewhere. Negotiation on the prices is allowed!
The price was right (promotion) and the experience very fluid (especially the installation). However, the staff don't seem to be very informed about what appliances are good. Viking range is good, but the rest are not very good, and definitely not good enough for the price paid. I bought Viking upon the recommendation of one of the staff there. Viking also has a terrible service system. Remember to do your research. Sometimes, it might be better to buy from the USA, as long a the warranty is valid.
The showroom probably has the largest selection of gas, wood, and pellet burning stoves, fireplaces, and inserts in Toronto. The staff were very informative (actually wanted me to buy a smaller unit, as it will be more efficient) and took their time to explain all the details about the units. The installation was good and very timely, but there was some mess left, and one of the installers swore, which detracted from the experience. I would though definitely recommend Marsh's fireplaces.
The entire experience from Kastle Fireplace was very professional, informative, and respectful of what I wanted in a fireplace/stove. While the installation took a little longer than I had experienced with Marsh's Fireplaces, the install crew was more professional, and took greater care not to leave a mess. I would definitely recommend Kastle Fireplace and use them again, should I need a third unit! Special thanks to Dave for answering all my very numerous questions!
Though the prices for most items here are quite substantial, you can find very good deals if you look hard enough. I got an entire wood mantle for $100. Fortunately, it was an absolutely perfect fit. Thanks!
Curtains, Slipcover, Roman Shades
Very good, consistent quality for a very reasonable price. One thing I would like to note is that the business is very busy, and can miss deadlines (often by a week or more), though to be fair the upholstery business seems to have very long deadlines (sometimes two months or more). Also, when doing anything upholstery, it helps to know exactly what you want. If you want lining in your curtains, see how it's done on the examples that are on site. Be thorough. Look at how the lining is sewn on all sides. If you want the lining sewn at the bottom (which H Sewing usually does not do), mention it. Roman Shades were a little different than I had pictured. Again, I recommend looking at the examples at the store to see if the end product would be to your taste.
Movers, working on Christmas Eve were very professional and fast. I called them on a very short notice, and while they let me know that due to Christmas day they could not stay for long, made the move promptly and without damage. I would use them again
After being promised 3.5 inch flooring, Consumers Carpet delivered 3.25 inches. Explanation for the error was that the real wood which I was shown was something between "3.5 and 3.25", and that hardwood flooring has tolerances due to milling. The receipt says 3.5, the boxes I was delivered say 3.25, and the wood that I received measures 3.25. The wood was also not as good quality as the sample shown, with very many small pieces and flaws.
I recently bought a refrigerator from Pilo appliances. Several people from Pilo explicitly told me that it was an out of the box item, probably displayed at a store, but never used or refurbished. They also told me that the appliance had a full one year warranty, and offered me a three year warranty as well which I declined. Pilo Appliances loaded the fridge into my van, and when I took it home I realized that the hoses at the back were damaged. I soon realized that something was wrong, as the hoses began dripping water, thus showing signs of use. I addressed all these problems with Pilo, but the service manager never returned my call. When the fridge developed several problems, I called the service number that I got from Pilo appliances, who turned out to an authorized Samsung service center. They could not fix the problem, and told me that the freezer was a refurbished unit. As subcontractors they had absolutely no power to replace the unit. I called Samsung who confirmed that the freezer was refurbished (i.e. scratched out sticker). They also told me that they had nothing to do with refurnished appliances. With this information, I called Pilo, where a receptionist telling me that since I had warranty with Samsung I should get a new fridge if they were unable to fix the problem. Samsung has NO warranty on refurbished products. The warranty is with Pilo, and honored by a authorized Samsung appliance service center . I tried numerous times to get to speak to the warranty manager, but my call was not returned. Now I have a broken fridge that cannot be fixed.
