We have used Urban Stonework (William Inglis is the owner, estimator, designer, and primary stonemason) about 3 times and keep coming back. In fact it has reached the point where we are looking for a job her could do because it is so pleasant and unusual to get a result that is so completely satisfactory and enduring. Three years ago he rebuilt our front porch and walkway. The porch had been repaired by others at least three times since it had been built 15 years ago, and invariably, in spite of promises to the contrary, one or two winters found us with the flagstones separating and the steps loose. Not this time. Mr. Inglis knew what the problem was, and proposed a solution that not only has been enduring, but looks better than what we had before. The quality of the work is excellent, he comes when he promises, finishes on time, checks back to see if we are satisfied, and communicates admirably. He has inventively solved other problems for us as well. His price is competitive and the whole experience has been a pleasure each time.

When our automatic garage door fell apart from age, we called Dodds because it was a well-known name. But we could not possibly have done better! We were struck in particular with the courtesy we were shown, with the excellent service, with the full communication re timing, options, and with how pleasant it was to interact with the salesperson, the office staff and the technicians. We had an issue just after installation because of a poor seal at the bottom of the door. it required a different "sweep" and the adjustment was done perfectly within 48 hours. We opted for a "quiet" motor, and it is REALLY quiet, smooth, and works perfectly. We are delighted and highly recommend this company if you need a new garage door.

We learned about Khody Modabberi and HLE Flooring on HomeStars. That was enough to call him for a quote. Then we met him - kind, communicative, generous with ideas, competitive pricing. Then we spoke with three references - unbelievable enthusiasm, with no qualification or hesitation!! Then we asked him to take on the job - clear contract, kept his word on every item, including timing, very flexible, helped us A LOT to find exactly the right product, without any pressure, went out of his way to get samples and to meet with us at the flooring supplier, used excellent supplier. Then he did the job - on time, no extras, and perfection. AND he and his staff were a pleasure to have in the house for a week!!! If this sounds as if it is too strong a reference, speak, as we did, to some people whose jobs he has completed. Speak to us!! Amazing positive experience, and we have certainly worked with other trades for whom we could not write a reference like this, or any positive reference at all. It was really heartening and reassuring that there are people like Khody who can do a great job, communicate really well, and add no stress.

They recommend "continuous care", using organic weed control. Seemed a ploy, but in fact with each treatment and each passing year the lawn is better and better. Not as dramatic as the old days with chemical fertilizers and pesticides, but very effective. They have kept their promise and so we continue to use them. They show up if there is ever a problem and respond to it, usually at no extra charge.

The job was underpinning of a 100+ year old semi-detached inner city home. Tony lowered the basement by 2.5 feet, built a new exterior exit door and poured a concrete stairwell up from the newly lowered basement. The surprise was that the original walls were built with rubble instead of the concrete block shown on our plans. The job was done perfectly, on time, on budget, and Tony was a pleasure to work with. Several knowledgeable people who have come through since the job was completed have spontaneously commented on the obvious quality. Basement dry, slab perfectly level, party wall dealt with avoiding any problem for us or the neighbour, rubble walls taken in stride even though they clearly complicated the job. We called him back later to build some steps and are having him back yet again to do some hard landscaping (paver paths etc.) in the garden. Price was competitive, better than some for sure. Worth every penny.
