I got a knock on the door last week and a Canadian Property Stars crew was doing some work down the block and asked if they could do work for me while they were in the neighbourhood - they had a lawn aerator and a power rake. I agreed to let them do my lawn and when they were finished there were three large brown yard waste bags on my front curb filled from the power raking. (The pictures show two bags but there was a third one on the other side of the walkway leading to the street.). I thought they put them on the front curb because they were going to come by to pick them up later. Several days later the bags were still there. I called their number, (I am in Vancouver) and I spoke to someone in Ottawa. They said that they do not pick up the bags. What am I supposed to do with these bags now. If this was the case it would have been better for them to put the stuff into my green bin and saved themselves three brown paper bags. I am glad that it did not rain and get the bags all soggy since now I need to take care of them - DISAPPOINTED that they did not finish the job

So sorry for the inconvenience with regards to the bags. We cannot remove them due to our setup and volume and for this reason we ensure we are very clear about this on all of our service visits. If it's only 3 bags I recommend dumping them into your city bins and the city will take it away. Again apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

I have a charging unit that came from Nissan but I needed a plug in my garage for 220 V power. I have concrete between my house and my garage and I did not want to dig that up to get the high voltage wire from my panel in the house to my garage. Until I found HomeStars, I was having trouble finding an electrician who would come to assess my situation and to give me a quote before doing the work. I was beginning to think that my job was too small to interest anybody. After I submitted my work request through HomeStars I had two electricians contacting me about the job within a day. Mr. Electric was the first to get back to me (on the same day), and Tyler had just finished a job early and was able to come to my house to look things over. This was great because having seen the site, Tyler was able to offer an above-ground solution that did not require any digging or breaking up of the concrete, and of course, this was a lot easier on my budget. Tyler was able to give me a firm quote which was reasonable and he also knew all about the current rebate program for installation of EV charging stations. I hired Tyler (Mr. Electric) to do the job and we made an appointment for the next week. Tyler was very professional. He came on time. He was tidy, and careful, and he cleaned up afterwards . I've hired electricians before and they did not have any of these attributes. The price billed was the same as the price quoted and now I am very pleased to have a level 2 charging station in my garage.

Curlys Carpet Repair delivered and went above and beyond. I had no idea carpet stretching was such an artform and it really helps that Pablo has over thirty years of experience. Watching him work you can see that carpet stretching is like chess - it really helps to have a plan and to think a few steps ahead. I was in a bind. I needed carpet stretching and cleaning and I was referred to a company. After a few days I got a reply and a quote from this other company and the quote did not include anything for carpet stretching. I asked if the carpet stretching was included in the quote and they said that they only do cleaning. Now I needed the stretching done asap. It was Friday night and I searched the internet for a carpet stretching expert. I found Curlys and he had great reviews so I called the number at about 9:30 pm. I was expecting to get an answering machine but to my surprise Pablo picked up the phone. From the questions he was asking me about the type of flooring (radiant heat) and my description of the rooms, I could tell that he knew what he was talking about - his experience was clear to me. He said he had jobs lined up and that the earliest he could do it was later in the week. I said I appreciated his time but that I wanted to find someone who could do it sooner. Later that evening Pablo called me back and said that he could do it on Saturday! Long story short, Pablo came on Saturday morning, did the job, and I am extremely happy with the results. Pablo has all of the right equipment, not just the kicker, but the carpet stretcher with the long extensions that go to the other side of the room for pulling the carpet really tight, It was a really complicated job with two adjoining rooms with a continuous carpet and a big solid oak desk in one room that was too big to be moved out the door (it must have been assembled on site). This desk would be a challenge for 4 people to lift but Pablo had these sliders which allowed him to move the desk around the room as he worked on the carpet. I believe a less experienced person would have had a hard time with this job, but Pablo was up to the challenge. In addition to the two rooms, Pablo also stretched the carpet on some of my stairs. I would not hesitate to hire Pablo again, but I think I won't need to at this house anytime soon. All the carpets are looking great now.
