I chose this company based on the reviews on Homestars. Arthur came and provided an estimate. He also said he would finnish the exposed wood caused by skylight removal. I said we could do it ourselves but he said it was better if his men did it. That sounded reasonable given the trickiness of getting to the sky light. I was given a price for the finishing work and then waited for the windows to arrive. I received a call that the installation would occur on the Monday of a long weekend, this was not a problem although I did question the day. On the Saturday of the weekend I received a message to say they would arrive that day. A bit inconvenient as I was going out. Anyway, I left the house with the men installing the windows. When I returned the windows were installed, but I noticed the exposed wood was not finished. I emailed the company to let them know the work was not completed. I then received an invoice for the full amount quoted even though the windows were not finished. After talking to the company about the work not being finished and emailing a photo they sent someone to fix the problem. This time I did not recieve a call that someone would be on my roof and they arrived unannounced at an inconvenient time for me. Nevertheless, the single guy who came went up on the roof and removed the bedroom skylight. I saw him removing what I thought was sealant of some sort and asked him to be sure to replace it. He said it was debris from the previous window. That made me wonder why it had not been removed before! He then did the bathroom window and the hall window did not show any exposed wood but he said it would be difficult for him to remove the window on it's own anyway. I saw him pack away his ladder and went to look at the work. The job was dreadful and showed exposed holes in the wood on the bathroom window and areas not painted on the bedroom window. I showed the workman, who was very courteous and professional, and he took his ladders back out (would have been smart to ask if I was satisfied first). He filled the holes with caulking over the wet paint and then painted the wood and down into the window recess…..with glossy white paint over my matte white paint in the bathroom and beige in the bedroom!! It was a mess. I spoke to Authur who said he could send over a professional painter. I know everyone on homestars tries to fix things (Authur said everyone fears getting a bad review on this site - sorry) but really I had had enough. I said I would paint it myself and was not going to pay for the paint work that was done. Now here is where I made a mistake. The invoice I received was not itemised so what I remember being charged for the finishing work and what Authur said he charged was different. I paid the bill less the cost Authur said but remember the price being less by about twice that. Even then for customer service and the inconvenience of having workmen show up with little notice I think he would have covered it. I have not written a review until now as I wanted to be sure the windows did not leak after I saw old debris from the window being removed after installation of the new ones. They are fine. But I would recommend getting an itemised bill and being there to check the work before the workmen leave - that may mean having them come at a time that is better planned.

Andrew came to do the quote and he was knowledgable and helpful. I had several questions about the quote and Ashley answered them to my satisfaction. Prior to the work being done I did find there were some issues with poor communication. I called the day before the work was to be done to ask when to expect the workmen and did not get a call back. I called the following morning and was told they would be there by noon. At 3.30pm I called again as nobody had showed up. Due to the rain the workmen would not be coming. I understand there may be delays related to the weather but expect to hear about it especially as I had called to ask. Everyone was apoligetic and polite but meanwhile I had wasted a day at home waiting for the workmen. I also did not realise the length of time the project would take - I thought a day but it was 2 - not that that was a problem. Troy and Lucias did the soffit and flashing and were great. They worked solidly for 2 days even in the pouring rain. Troy did a fancy bend in the flashing on the front of my peaked roof which looks great. The guys who did the eaves and downspouts were efficient but I noticed there was some water splashing out of the eaves when it was raining. One of the guys came back the next day and I think the problem is fixed will need to check with the next heavy rain. As I thought I may not be home on the second day of work Eni came out so I could discuss where the downspouts would be. He was helpful but did try to "upsell" me on flashings and leaf guards - you can't blame him for trying but I was happy with my first quote. all in all the work was well done and the quote competitive. My only suggestion would be to do a better job of communicating when someone will show up to do the work and to keep the customer informed if there are to be delays

Pierre did a great job, he was competatively priced, arrived and spent the whole day replacing our panel. I would recommend him and use his services again the next time we need an electrician

Marcon were recommended to us by several friends and we were not disappointed. Uli provided assistance with designing the kitchen and basement cabinets. Anna did bathroom and powder room design and helped with decisions about fixtures, tile and trim. I had planned on getting other quotes but in the end Marcon were the only company who followed through with regard to time and plans. This helped to decrease the level of stress one can feel when undertaking an extensive reno. Anna and Uli were very professional and took the time to listen to our thoughts and guide us through decisions. We did some research ourselves on appliances, counters and some fixtures and Marcon had no problem with us going with other companies for these things. Marcon installed the kitchen and basement cabinets and the work was done on time and Nick did a great job of the installation. The only comment I have about our white kitchen cabinets is that the underside of the cabinet is a birch colour (as is the inside of our cabinets) rather than white, and we would have preferred white as it does look a little unmatched, but this is a minor point. Also our appliance garage comes out about 4 inches too far and our coffee maker needs to be pulled around to the side of the cabinet when brewing - again a minor point. Marcon recommended a contractor (cost not included in the Marcon price) to do the tile, plumbing, electrical, plaster, trim etc work. I had seen Aleksanders excellent tile work at a friends house. His work is meticulous and suggestions about where to place things invaluable. Overall we are delighted with our renovation, which for the most part took 2 months to complete work wise and 3 months of planning. Marcon made a stressful undertaking easy by providing guidance, professional service and timely installation.

Jan was invaluable in coordinating timing and moved everything along faster than hoped for. Nick was very professional with the measurements. Price, product and efficiency were excellent

The work done was ok given the time. I felt pressure to write a review just as the work was completed and was not going to complete a review. However either homestarts or just clean it have sent me reopeated emails requesting a review....since August - so here I am writing so that the emails stop
