If you need an electrician, you NEED to hire Ralph. He is polite, professional, has great prices, but most importantly - does amazing work. It took two days from the time I left my first message in early June (via Homestars) for him to come to the house, check out the work, then send a detailed quote via email. When I told him I needed the work done before July, he booked me in for an appointment the very next week. One of the best things with Ralph is he is in constant communication. Before the appointment, I sent him numerous questions via email regarding the job, and his response would always come within the next few hours. Even more impressive, the day before he was scheduled to come, he emailed me to remind me of our appointment (something which no other contractor has done). The day of the job, he showed up on time with his two assistants. Although it was almost 40 degrees out, they worked for 8 hours straight, never complaining about the heat. They finished at 10:30pm and while my fiance and I checked out the work, Ralph's assistant was busy cleaning dust off the door frame which had collected when they were drilling the exterior light (which to me is a great sign that they respect and care for the property they're working on). Everything looked absolutely perfect. They did an amazing job. Ralph followed up the next day to make sure we were happy with the job, which we absolutely were. Without a doubt, if we have any electrical work we need done in the future, we will definitely call Ralph.

We moved into a new house, and although two home inspections claimed the roof was in great shape, we quickly found there were multiple leaks in the roof, and the flat roof was actually peeling off the house (you could pull it back to see the rotting boards underneath). We had a handful of companies come to quote us on the repair, and appreciated that Jason was the only one who took us out on the roof to show us the scope of work that needed to be done. Although his quote was one of the highest, we went with his company as he seemed the most knowledgeable. Work did take a while to start, but we understood the terrible weather was pushing back his company's production time. However, when the work on our roof commenced, it went quite well. A large crew of men worked on the roof for a week straight. Jason would bring us on the roof during work to show us things they found (one corner of the roof had completely rotted through and there was a gaping hole in the boards...this solved the mystery of the waterfall in the dining room whenever it rained). They repaired the attic above the dormer window where a raccoon had been living and had torn out the insulation. A lot of extra carpentry work had to be done as almost all the boards on the roof needed to be replaced - before Jason went ahead with any of the extra work, he made sure to contact us and discuss what this work would be. The end result looks great - pitched roof, flat roof and garage roof are all excellent, and the leaks we'd been experiencing around the house have not shown up again. Clean-up was great - the property looked better than before they started. Jason also had his crew clean our neighbour's eavestroughs, as he noticed, when he was on our roof, how badly their eaves were cluttered. The attention to detail Jason puts in his work is unbelievable. At the end of the day, it was a lot of money, but we're definitely happy we repaired the roof.

We'd read reviews of Master Metal Men on Homestars and gave them a call in late December. Italo came on December 31st as we mentioned we were currently having the roof done and needed aluminum work done ASAP. He went up on the roof to check out everything that needed to be done. He was very knowledgeable, explaining why and how the work needed to be completed and how much time it would take. Not only was he the most thorough quote we received, his price came in at half the cost of the other quotes. He was able to start the job within three weeks and the results were amazing. Excellent workmanship - and very thorough - when he found rotting wood behind the eaves, he ran to get wood and charged us a minimal price for quite a bit of unexpected carpentry work. It has rained a handful of times since our work was done and we were thrilled to see how well our new eavestroughs work. Cosmetically, it's definitely the best aluminum work on the block and we would 100% recommend Master Metal Men to anyone needing metal work done.

Tony Devlin came by to give me an estimate on the brick work for my 100-year-old house. I had six companies come to give quotes - he was the only person who came who was actually a mason (and would be doing the work himself). He arrived - on time - and proceeded to explain, in detail, what needed to be done. He pointed out the same problem areas as the other companies, but offered up a number of different solutions as to how they could be handled (including the price and reasons why some solutions would make more sense than others). Even before he gave me his estimate, I had decided to go with Tony. I booked an appointment with him and noticed, a few weeks later while tearing down drywall, a crack in the basement foundation wall. I emailed him pictures and once again, he offered solutions on how to fix it. I asked if he could repair it the day he was schedule to do the external brick work and he agreed. The day of my appointment, I pulled a last-minute change and asked him to brick in a ground-floor window instead of replacing the sill (as I had originally requested). He was extremely accommodating and left to get the extra material that was needed. He and his assistant worked all morning on the exterior of the house. When he was done, he asked me to take a look at his work to make sure I was happy. The work was fabulous. The replacement brick and mortar was such a great match, it took me a while to find the areas he'd replaced. The new sill on the 2nd floor looked amazing - I was tempted to replace all the sills on the house (even though they don't need replacing...yet). Tony bricked in the (last-minute switch) ground-floor window, then parged over it to match the rest of the existing wall. Once again, if I had not known how it looked before, I'd have never guessed he'd done work on it. He even went to the front of the house and did some tuckpointing on areas we hadn't discussed - at no extra charge. Tony then came into the house to fix the crack in the basement. Even though the distance from the door to the basement is 15 feet, he took off his boots, then put them back on after descending the basement stairs. While he was doing work down there, he noticed a leaking problem in another portion of the basement. He called me down so I could see the problem, explained what was wrong, and then proceeded to tell me how I could fix it. When Tony was done his work, he gave me the bill and explained, because I was using one less sill, he was going to charge me less (even though I was the one who asked for the last-minute change and he had to run around to get new material). So, the actual billed price came in at less than the estimate. I checked out the work areas after he'd left and everything was as clean - or cleaner - than when he'd arrived. I am extremely impressed with Tony and his work. I would 100% recommend him to anyone who needs masonry work done. He is punctual, polite, honest, respectful and does extraordinary work. I know I will be calling Tony in the future.
