This is my third review of servicea provided by Leaside Plumbing & Heating, which has done more than a dozen jobs at my home and at an income property. This time, the job turned out to be a straightforward fix to a clogged drain. I wouldn't ordinarily submit a review to Homestars about a relatively simple job, except for the notable fact that the plumber, Rick, went far beyond "the call of duty" by taking considerable additional -- and unbilled-- time to give me a tutorial on many DOs and DON'Ts to prevent clogs in the future in my two buildings. These tips are solid gold, and should end up saving me way more money in the future than I spent on him fixing this clog. Thank you, Rick!!!

Last winter, three flagstones became cracked and loose where my walkway meets the sidewalk. This appears to have been due to repeated blows by the sidewalk snowplow. Richard and Bill developed the solution of replacing these three end-stones with sloped concrete. Bill then expertly implemented this solution, which also involved removing the end of the existing concrete pad below the end-stones and pouring a new mini-pad that Bill stabilized by attaching it to the newly cut end of the old pad. Bill ensured that the street-end of the new pad sloped at the optimal angle from the remaining stones down to the sidewalk: shallow enough to avoid being caught by the blade of the snowplow, but not so shallow that the transition to the remaining flagstones would create a tripping hazard for tenants. A tricky job, beautifully done! This is the seventh time that I've used Wilkens Contracting for a range of masonry services. The work is invariably excellent, and the price is always appropriate.

During the past few months, Leaside replaced the bathtub/shower fixtures in two apartments in an income property that I own. Both jobs were very labour-intensive due to challenging features in the structure of the old building, but Keith, Kale and John ensured that the outcome was perfect in each case. I've counted on Leaside for many years for all of my plumbing needs not only at the income property but also at my home. The quality of the work is invariably excellent, and the price is always appropriate.

Dale did a masterful job restoring shower stall built in 1956. The original tiles are no longer available, so he not only replaced one row of mainly broken tiles with ones of a complementary colour but also managed to salvage uncracked tiles from that row and use them to replace broken tiles in other rows. Len and Greg were a pleasure to deal with, patiently explaining options to arrive at the strategy that Dale implemented so well. The result was excellent quality at a reasonable price.

Al did a superb job of getting rid of four tree stumps at our house, two of which were very close to a fence and a buried power line. This is the second time that Dreamworks has provided tree services to us, with the first being the delicate removal of dying tree that was close to power lines and a glass sunroom. Dreamworks continues to provide excellent quality and value.

This Fall (2019) is the sixth time that I've used Wilkens for masonry work on multiple properties. The work is always superb, both technically and aesthetically. Bill did the latest job, repairing a flagstone walkway, concrete porch, brick wall and asphalt driveway. He was a pleasure to deal with, due his dedication to quality, attention to detail, and patience in clearly explaining every aspect of the work. Once again, the outcome was worth every penny. Ricky sent Ryan and Dennis to remove a dying Mountain Ash tree. This required careful work because the tree was very close to my neighbour's house and mine, including utility wires and a glass sunroom. Ryan and Dennis did a perfect job. Thank you!

Bradley and Arthur did a superb job cleaning out and replacing deteriorated concrete around the flagstones of our front walkway. Also, all my questions were patiently and completely answered. They -- and the administrative staff too -- were all a pleasure to deal with.

The set of three blinds that Sky - Blinds & Shades installed for us 2 1/2 years ago is a beautiful product that has worked perfectly since. Furthermore, Ben and his colleagues have all been a pleasure to deal with. My wife and I look forward to contacting them in the future for more window coverings.ever

Over the years, Leaside has done multiple plumbing jobs for me, ranging from installing taps to a difficult drain replacement. The quality of work is always excellent.
