I hired Kevin at McCarthy Gas to install a new gas line for a BBQ as well as remove an old unused line. I am so happy I found him! He did a great job. So professional, knowledgeable and kind, also very fast to reply to calls or texts. Kevin's project was coordinated with a landscape project that was happening, my landscaper ended up changing the timing ahead of schedule which affected what Kevin was doing. Kevin was so accommodating to work with me to move half of my appointment ahead of schedule, resulting in him having to make two trips and I'm sure it inconvenienced him. In terms of pricing, this was the only quote I got but it seemed like a fair and reasonable price to me. I would definitely hire McCarthy Gas again!

I have hired Captain Electric for 2 separate jobs. The first one was just to replace an electric panel a year ago. It was an emergency job, and they were very kind to help me with same day service. This review is for my second time hiring them. This project was for the following: upgrading to a 200amp electrical panel, installing 4 pot lights at the front of the house, installing a metered collar transfer device (allows you to plug a generator in to power the house), wiring a brand new detached garage including an EV charger, pot lights outside, LED lights inside and 8 outlets, upgrading a washroom receptacle to be GFCI, replacing a couple of receptacles in the house. Upgrading an outdoor receptacle to be GFCI. Diane was my main contact in the office, she is really easy to work with and helpful for scheduling. What I really like about this company is they have enough staff to send 4-5 electricians over and be finished in less than a day, instead of one person coming everyday for a week. I had a lot of projects so mine took 2 days over 1-2 months. I also really like how they talk to you about where you want potlights or receptacles, etc placed and explain some advantages or disadvantages of placement that you may not be aware of. The crew never rushes you. The crew is very professional and they really know what they are doing. I ask a lot of questions and all of the electricians really take the time to explain things to you, which as a consumer I really appreciate. I also strongly believe that when you don't know a lot about a subject and someone is able to explain it to so you totally understand it that means they have a full understanding of the subject. This is exactly what happened. Zac (who was the electrician in charge of my project) really taught me A LOT about electricity. For my second appointment, I actually had to cancel the original date and rebook it (because my trusses were delayed for my garage due to covid-and you can't wire a garage and make it live with no roof on it). Diane was really good to move things around on their end and rebook me for the following week. (I also kept her updated with what was going on at my house and advised her that this may happen well before). Now for the unpleasant part. This company is expensive, like really expensive. If you are looking for the cheapest electrician, don't bother getting a quote from them. However, I firmly believe you pay cheap and you pay twice. You get a crew that shows up when they say they will, with neat and clean uniforms and id badges. They leave no trace that they were even there. Every job was done perfectly. Most importantly, they are all licensed electricians, and Zac produced proof of his license without me asking for it. Also, they have an excellent warranty so you are buying piece of mind. Another thing that was really nice was that Zac 'threw in' 2 little bonus pieces of work for me that came up the day of service, that would have cost me about $300-400 more. It was very kind of him to do this. In reality, it was probably $20 of parts and 15 min of labor, but that's not the point...as a customer it made me feel very good that he would do that especially when I had already agreed to pay for it...he surprised me with that when we were going over my final bill. I was very happy to save that money. It really shows their high level of customer service. Again, you get what you pay for. I am very happy with all the projects Captain Electric completed, and will definitely use them again in the future. A big thank you to Diane, Kiera, Elise and all the ladies in the office. As well as Zac, Kevin, Bronson and Jackson (My apologies I know I have forgotten one electrician but I can't remember his name). You can see photos for my garage and house outdoor lighting.

I have used Mint Duct Cleaning twice. Both times I was very happy with the service. Ray does a very detailed job and explains everything he is doing and shows you videos of your ducts as he is working. I Will hire Mint Duct Cleaning again. Mint is able to accommodate your schedule with flexible booking times and get you an appointment fairly quickly.

I hired Shedman to build a detached garage for me (18' x 22'). They did an amazing job. Everything worked out perfectly every step of the way. The process could not have been simpler. 1. They will provide a very detailed quote so you know exactly what you are paying for. Then you can tweak whatever you want and they will readjust. 2. You get your own permit (You may not need one depending on what you are doing). In Ajax, getting the permit is not that big of deal. Just google how to get permits in what town you live in and get in touch with the town to find out all the rules and regulations. 3. Once you know all the rules you have to follow for sizing and location (and there are a lot of rules) you can go back to Shedman and get them to tweak the quote again. 4. The crew who builds the garages will come out at some point before you start spending any money to check your yard and make sure the spacing/grading etc is suitable for your build. 5. Shedman works with an Architect so she will prepare the drawings for your permit. 6. You submit your permit application (In Ajax this is not a big deal, all you have to do is fill out some basic paper work about what you are doing and scan this and the drawings over to the town and of course pay a small fee). 7. Shedman will let you know when they can start. Your work is now finished. I was kept informed of everything that was happening-if the crew was coming over to work, if we were expecting an inspector to come over, if they were not coming due to rain, etc. Marika and Randi in the office have excellent communication. Every person who was involved with this project was so great and easy to deal with. My contacts were Marika and Randi in the office, and Mike on the crew. Everyday when the crew left, everything was cleaned up. You could not even tell that they were there, except for the major progress made. Please note, Shedman only builds structures, if you want additional things such as electrical or an epoxied floor you make your own arrangements for that. They can refer you to companies who do this if that helps you. My price listed in my approximate cost is for the structure only. In terms of pricing Shedman was the only quote I got, but I thought it was fairly priced. What really sold me on hiring Shedman was the fact that they are a one stop shop for the structure. What I did not want was to have to find my own architect, cement person, roofer, garage door installer, etc. I wanted one person/company to handle all of that for me which is exactly what you get with Shedman. I am so glad I hired Shedman, I love my new garage so much!

This is the second time I used Dima Plumbing. Today John came to replace two toilets. He arrived exactly on time, with all necessary tools and COVID precautions in place. He was very helpful to recommend which toilets to purchase at the time of booking the appointment. In terms of pricing I didn't get a quote from anyone else for either of the jobs I booked him for, but his prices seemed reasonable. Remember he is a licensed master plumber. I will definitely be booking Dima Plumbing for any future plumbing needs. Thank very much John!
