Accord was sent over from the insurance company as I had a flood and the appliances were wet inside their cavities. When I attempted to take photos of the damage for my "proof of loss", I was told "I'm trying to do my job and you're in my way". The repairman was not intricately knowledgable about the workings of my particular make and he made very nervous. I should have had a specialist from KitchenAid do the inspection. It's clear who is paying this guys bills and it's the insurance company. A little respect and friendliness would go a long way.

First and foremost, Marian Iacobut and his team are the most wonderful group of movers that you could ever want. They are professional, friendly, reliable, incredibly hard working and clean. I don't think that any of them smoke--which is a huge plus for me!! And, I would definitely recommend them to anyone. BUT, after the move was over, and I had a chance to look around, I noticed that many of the legs of my furniture and chairs had damage. Some of my furniture was new so I am sure that there was no previous damage. SO, my advise: be sure that they wrap the legs up separately so that when they pile the furniture up in the truck, things don't get damaged. As well, they packed up my dishes and when I unpacked, there was a lid placed with the sugar bowl without separately wrapping them up, so I would be sure to ask them to wrap each item separately. I do not recall the exact price, but they were very reasonable and I gave them a big tip! I would definitely recommend and use them again and just mention these couple of tips!

I used chouinard bros roofing many years ago and was very satisfied with their work. When i needed a new roof on the garage, i got a few quotes and was more than pleased with chouinard's price. In fact, many of the roofers listed here on homestars were much more expensive. The crew did a great job and the roof looks amazing. I used the shingle manufacturere's website to upload a photo of the garage and see what the shingles would look like--so there were no surprises. But, what was surprising was the raccoon that wandered into my garage the first week that the new roof was placed. It punched a hole in the roof trying to escape as the garage door had been closed and it was trapped. Chouinard bros came back and repaired the hole at no additional cost. They exceeded my expectations.

My circulating pump, which sends the hot water from the boiler up to the second floor, gave out. Some rads were warm and others were stone cold. A few months ago i had repaired the pump, but this time another component broke and i didn't want to waste any more money on it. Steve had been to my house before for the initial repair and he had given me his cellphone number; so when i needed help, i called him directly! Although he was booked with another job, ketteringham managed to switch things around and let steve come to my house. He is very knowledgeable and pleasant and advised me to get the more expensive "armstrong" pump because it will last longer. As well, steve was able to reconfigure the shut off valves and get some heat flowing into the basement rads. The labour charge was very fair and I would highly recommend steve and ketteringham.

Circulating pump broke on the weekend (of course). After being disappointed with another company, i called ketteringham whom i've been using for boiler cleanings for many years. They had a truck in the area and Steve and his apprentice came right over had fixed the broken spring in the pump within minutes. Finally i'll be able to sleep again--it sounded like a train in here every 5 minutes. Steve was friendly, professional, very knowledgable, and answered all my questions. Highly recommend Ketteringham.

Dominic and his brother run a small, family owned and operated business. I was referred to him from the manufacturer of the vinyl windows--VWD (vinyl window designs) and he came highly recommended. I did quite a bit of shopping around with other window companies and was hesitant to use many of them as they simply hire outside installers--whomever is free that day. That really bothered me. Dominic and his brother were onsite installing everything themselves, with some helpers. I love the windows, and in particular, the role screens (which some others call "magic windows"), so the screen can simply be raised or lowered. Dominic has excellent suggestions and is a pleasure to work with.

i have had a moen kitchen faucet with a pull-out sprayer for approx 8 years and it has been wonderful. So far i have not needed to change the cartridge. In my upstairs washroom i replaced old shower fawcets with a single armed moen shower faucet and other than one washer change, it has been working well for over 15 years.I have been very please with moen. And, when i had reason to call customer service (many years ago), they were very pleasant and told me that they will provide me with a free cartridge provided that they can pick up the old one.

I have been in my home for almost 20 years. The previous owners had installed the space pak system from Davenport Campbell, and as soon as the 5 yr warranty ran out, i needed a new compressor. I continued to use D-C for approx. 15 years, and in that time i had to replace the compressor twice. The reason is that the freon levels constantly leaked outso, by law, i had to pay for a nitrogen test. Each year, the leak was at the same locationwhere the service tech attached his tubing to measure the freon levels. It turned out that the fittings would loosen and the freon then leaked out. Eventually i was advised to replace the "upstairs" unit, in the attic. Davenport wanted over $5000 (this was around 2003) and they were putting alot of pressure on me to fix it "right away" because if i didn't do it "that day", then they didn't know when they would be able to send out another service tech. Luckily i called for some other estimates and was able to install the same unit for $3000 with another company. I did not enjoy the high pressure sales tactic, and i felt very unsatisfied with D-C, as every single year the A/C would break down and not be working by the end of the summer.

First,we never "pressure" our customers. My family has owned this company since 1968 and our reputation is outstanding.Second, who are you? Without knowing this I cannot respond, not knowing the history.Third, why are we discussing a quote from 2003 in 2007? Please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you, Andrew Bowker

I called Direct Energy on Sunday night at 10pm as my rental hot water tank was leaking all over the basement (60 gallon tank). I was informed that they answer the phone 24hrs per day, but do not make emergency house calls! The fellow on the phone booked an appt on monday afternoon however to my horror, when the repairman arrived on monday, he simply shut the water shut-off valve (which ended up being broken) and never drained the tank. Then they re-schedule to send another repairman with a new tank. So, I had continuous water flooding my basement until Wednesday afternoon (ie. 4 days to change the tank). I called about 20 timespleading, begging, cajoling, crying, screamingDirect Energy just doesn't care. My furnace sat in 3inches of waterwhen i insisted upon a service call to check my furnace, Direct Energy determined that the CO level was too high and "tagged" the furnaceso now i need to buy a new furnace!! truth be told, all furnaces blow excess CO from a cold startbut i can't be bothered arguing with Direct Energy anymorethey are a huge conglomerate and the public is getting ripped off.
