NJM does a very thorough clean! Two cleaners worked non stop for 4.5 hours on my house getting everything spotless. They moved furniture to clean behind things, steam cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed my furniture and made the carpet on my stairs feel new again!

Joe is quick to respond to phone calls and emails. He comes when he says he will and his team is friendly and professional. I was happy with his advice and great work pruning our big old tree. He made sure I was happy with everything before leaving and even impressed me with his lasso skills! Will use again.

Kelly's is very professional. They have done an excellent job pruning an 80 year old Norway maple for us in the past. Most recently one of their arborists came out to give us a quote on doing storm damage repair. She was so knowledgeable and provided a lot of information. We haven't yet acted on the quote because we are agonizing over whether to have it repaired or taken down :( I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Rob & Rob were quick and efficient at installing a new humidifier for us. They are friendly and informative and generally nice guys. They showed us what to do in case of a leak, and good thing because it leaked the first day! But they came back very first thing in the morning (a Saturday too!) to fix. I will say that the company's communication methods aren't perfect. I called initially and was told someone may be able to come out the same day if possible. I thought that was exceptional. However, no one came (no big deal, I knew that was a possibility), but I didn't get any further follow up about setting up an appointment until I called myself a week later. I also sent an email about additional work to the website a couple of weeks ago (at the suggestion of one of the Rob's) and have yet to hear anything back. However, I'll just try to call instead to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Like most people, we discovered our very old AC was not working on a day when we really wanted it to be cool! Reliable sent out staff that same weekend and (as we expected) recommended a new unit. We have known since we bought the house 5 years ago that every year with this unit was a bonus, so we were not surprised that this was finally the year! The guys were clear and informative about our options and were able to get a crew out pretty quickly the following week to do the replacement. In the meantime we told our AC-less neighbours about the good price and good reviews from Homestars. They decided to get an AC installed too and Reliable was able to do their job on the same day as ours which was great since we are on the other side of the semi from them. Just due to the number of great reviews on here, we didn't bother getting other quotes, and I'm sure we had a very competitive price. When the AC seemed not be working a couple of weeks later, Reliable sent out a team very quickly to check it out. They discovered it had accidentally been turned off outside by other contractors and was not an issue with the unit or installation. All parties were happy with that! I am sitting in a nice cool house right now and really appreciating the great work that Reliable did!

Ryan responded quickly to my phone call and promptly came to our house to provide some ideas and a quote. We liked that he brought a photo album with some pictures of jobs he's done so we could visualize what the different options were. His pricing is transparent and it is easy to work with him (and his trusty spreadsheet) to figure out where to save money or what the impact will be to spend more on splurges. He and his crew worked quickly, neatly and completed an impeccable job. We started out in the spring thinking perhaps we would do a little bit of work to the deck so our backyard would look nicer - but didn't realize how amazing it would turn out. Ryan's ideas and execution made our backyard a completely different place. We love it!! Especially with a small house, it is really great to have amazing outdoor space to spread out in the summer. Highly recommend.

They were very accommodating in coming in for an appointment quickly. I find it hard to review because I really don't know how good of a job they did. I saw them hooking up the vacuums etc and know they were working hard, but I don't know how much debris was actually cleaned out of the vents. I did ask them to clean out the dryer which they did and I can see a difference in that, but that's about all! I assume all is good... The one comment I will say, is that the two guys who were here repeatedly made reference to how they use better methods than their competition and made mild disparging comments about the competition. This doesn't really sit well with me and I'd prefer if they just told me about what they were doing and showed me how it was working without referring all the time to other companies.

We had Sun Coast replace all the windows on our 2nd floor last year. They were quick and efficient and the windows look impeccible. There were a couple of issues that we noticed afterwards with the screens that were fixed after a couple of follow up phone calls. Because of the good experience we used them again this year to replace our front and back entry doors. The sales guy was very patient when I took forever looking at his catalogues and deciding what we wanted! There was a very long delay for the doors to come - I'm not sure why, but the receptionist was apologetic whenever we called to check up on them. We were starting to worry that we would never hear from them again, but we did! The doors were installed and there were a few details I wasn't 100% satisfied with, but were liveable (the way the trim was done and the finishing details). However, when the inspector came he had the guys re-do not only those things but even more that I didn't notice. In the end the windows look great, and I am very happy with the doors and all the trim and finishing details. It would have been nice in each scenario if the end product was perfect from the beginning, but they do make everything right before closing off a job.

I called Dave based on the reviews on Homestars. So far he's cleaned our house once and is coming again next week as part of an ongoing monthly schedule. He is a passionate and engaged guy who does a great job and gets things clean. It is so nice to come home to a clean house and have someone else tackle some of the bigger more daunting tasks. I am looking forward to having him work his magic on a regular basis!

I have a microsuede couch that was looking grungy from lots of use and a young child. I actually thought some of the dark spots on the armrests etc were because the finish had worn off. Wrong! Soft Surfaces was able to clean it so it looks practically brand new including the spots I thought were bare spots. I have been seriously thinking that we would have to buy a new couch because I was so irritated by the look of ours. However, I thought it was worth it to see what a professional cleaning would do. Not only was I amazed at the difference, but my husband noticed the change too. And he didn't even think it was that bad and that I was over-reacting. I wish I had done this sooner, and definitely will call again in a couple of years when spot cleaning just won't cut it any more!

This is definitely the place if you're looking for the best selection of handles and pulls. They have the most amazing array all out on display for you to see. It's almost overwhelming how many they have. I ended up looking at their store, then going back to some decorating magazines, deciding what I wanted and going to buy them from Lee Valley. Usually if you see something in a magazine it's not easy to locate it in a store. I'd almost guarantee you could find what you were looking for there. They also have the nifty little tool that helps you install the knobs/pulls in exactly the same spot on each door or drawer front. Thanks Colin and Justin for the suggestion of this store!

I had one mediocre experience with Butler's and now a second poor experience. I won't be bringing anything back there. My first experience was ordering a replacement lid for a slow cooker. I ordered over the phone and they took my credit card number for a deposit. I was told it would be in in around a week. After two weeks I called and it still wasn't in but I was assured I would be called when it came in. After 9 weeks I finally called again and was told 'oh yes, it's here'. It turns out it had been since about 2 days after I first phoned and they just didn't bother to call me. However, I thought maybe that was a random occurrence and I brought in my food processor that wasn't starting. I was told they'd have to look at in detail to see if it could be repaired or if I needed a new canister. I was never called to be told what the investigation showed. Three weeks later I call to see what's going on with it and I'm told, 'yes we fixed it and it is $42'. I am surprised they went ahead with that without calling me and secondly not calling me when it was done. When I went in to pick it up I found they had ordered parts that I had at home. When I asked about that they said they were slightly different. At home I found they were exactly the same. I would have preferred if they found out what the issue was, called to find out if I had the additional parts or not, before just assuming I did not have them and ordering them. I admit I wasn't using those parts properly which resulted in the food processor not working, but the problem was my ineptness using the machine and not the machine itself. Now I have $42 worth of extra parts that I don't need. If they were going to charge me for anything it should have been for finding the problem and showing me how to use it properly. I will not be bringing anything back there because they are missing very basic customer service elements.

This store is right around the corner from me and also looks a little run down from the outside which is why I hadn't paid much attention to it. However, I stopped in while on a walk to see if they had anything of interest for my kitchen back splash. I think they mainly must sell to contractors because this isn't a beautiful showroom! But the guys that work there are knowledgeable and helpful and the prices are great. The young (attractive!) guy working there was good at listening to my desired look and helping me find what they had. I got a call after finally deciding on my tile and they let me know it was going to take a lot longer than they thought to come in. I decided to go in to pick something else instead. When I arrived later the same day they had already picked out some alternatives that were confirmed available. He even had magazines with pictures to show me how it might look. I was impressed that they went to that trouble and didn't just let me wait weeks on end for the original order to come in. It turns out I love the new tiles we found even more than the original order. Definitely worth checking out this place if you have tile needs (including floor). Note we did the tile installation ourselves.

We had the best experience with Kitchen Door Depot (also known as Cabinet Door Depot). We wanted to put in new cabinets in part of our kitchen and keep some of the existing cabinets. The challenge was how to make the kitchen cohesive. After A LOT of back and forth (a returned kitchen to Ikea) we decided to get Ikea cabinets for our new cabinets and have custom doors made to go on both the old and new cabinets. There was some skepticism buying from an online company, but they are very good at giving advice and help over the phone and email. I highly recommend you get directly in touch with them to take advantage of their customer service and not just do it on your own because you think you have to. They send mini door samples so you can see what they'll look like for $20 which is then applied against your order. We measured and remeasured before putting the order through and were amazed that all the doors fit perfectly. Along with fixtures from Lee Valley the cabinets are even more than I could have hoped for. Along with discount granite counter and a new faucet and backsplash this was an incredibly economical way to update our old '80's kitchen.

Kiya rewired our 80 year old house a year and a half ago (I have a previous positive review on that experience) and so when we had a problem with a couple of lights not working we called him again. It turns out that a DIY job to install a dimmer switch had been done incorrectly and was impacting other wiring. We had a brand new baby and Kiya scolded us for doing the job ourselves when it was such a hazardous mistake. However, he and his guys very kindly fixed the dimmer switch in the baby's room and did not charge us for it. We are grateful for his generosity and will always just call him again in the future! Highly recommend.

I found Kiya on Homestars and I was very happy with the service level as all of the other reviewers on here have been. Kiya is extremely responsive - he answered all phone calls very promptly. He came in exactly when he said he would to give me a quote. I got 4 quotes and he was in the middle in terms of price. I found he was above board (not reluctant to bring in an inspector), thorough, and brought ideas to the table - the cheaper electricians didn't do this. I think it was worth the extra money not to go with the cheapest! He also stuck to the quoted price even though we ended up doing a few extra things as the work unfolded. I was pleasantly surprised about that. Also, his team of guys are VERY hard workers. They started work right away in the morning and put in a tremendous effort, even in the heat and dusty condiditions. They were also friendly and I felt comfortable having them in the house. I really appreciate the work they did. I highly recommend these guys.
