We had two bathrooms renovated by Carick this past spring. We met Joel at the Home Show and he followed up with us a few weeks later. We were originally going to get only one bathroom redone, but decided to do both instead. Joel walked us through the entire process and worked really hard to accomodate our budget and our timeline. The workers were polite, professional and quite friendly, especially Tomas. We are extremely happy with both bathrooms and have had nothing but rave reviews from anyone who has seen them. Everyday we are happy that we went ahead with the renovations and enjoy the finished product. Carick made our first major renovation a pleasant experience and we would recommend them to any and everyone.

We did a small bathroom reno a few years ago at our condo. we had never hired a contractor before. the tilework was excellent and the workers were great - professional and polite. they even came back to re-caulk our bathtub when it got a little moldy. we hired home depot for the kitchen because they were cheaper but we very much regret it now. i would recommend carick.

Carick Home Improvements rescued our house from collapsing after a ruthless, shameless, irresponsible contractor abandoned our project leaving our house half demolished leaving us to deal with unhappy neighbours as well as legal fights with the City of Toronto. The work Carick performed included demolishing a concrete verandah, underpinning the existing exterior walls, and re-building the verandah where a second-story balcony would be built. Geno and his worker (Tony) got the work done immediately. The workers quickly cleaned up the mess the previous thief contractor had left behind. During the demolishing stage we noticed one of the main brick walls was crumbling and needed reinforcing. We notified Geno of our concern. By next day at 8:00 AM Geno’s structural engineer was at the site inspecting the damage and recommending a solution. Our house was saved by adding a 6-inch poured concrete and re-bar reinforcing wall. Despite it being an extensive and difficult job the work was completed quickly and with minimal disturbance to us except by having to use the back door and parking on the street for a few days during the project. Geno’s workers worked hard, fast, and responsibly in rain, snow, cold, and shine. There was no time when we felt concerned or threatened. They used all the proper tools for the job including having machinery and it all was built to code and passed inspection. Our home is almost 100 years old and it needs to be re-done inside and out almost entirely. We only trust Geno and his associates at Carick with our home and no-one else. We continue to use Carick’s services for work on our house. Project after the verandah include: European-style cobble paving stones for the driveway, interlock retention wall in the front yard, a new thermal garage door with glass windows, excavation of the backyard, and new roof shingles. In 2010 Geno will return to do more work including paving stones in the backyard, planting boxes, paving stone walkway and stairs, and an outdoor wood-fired brick oven. Our project was done while we were out of town & the Carick crew were responsible for securing our property & abiding by our strict condo construction rules. Our on-site superintendant told us that he wasn't even aware of the workers' presence. The project was completed to our satisfaction & "glitches" were attended to promptly & efficiently by Joel personally. The Bathroom is exactly what we wanted. We are delighted with the outcome. We are very thankful to Gino and the team for such a great job and have already recommended them to others who are looking for a top notch renovation contractor. After interviewing a group of General Contractors it was obvious from our first meeting with Gino that Carick was the right team for the job. Gino and the crew on the project (Thomas and Jacque) brought experience, knowledge and new ideas which were greatly appreciated. One of the more challenging elements of the project (at least for us) was the fact that we would be living in the house as the renovation took place. The Carick team made every effort to accommodate us and we quickly learned that they could be trusted while on-site. The workmanship and attention to detail were exceptional, and project management was successful - with the project finishing well within the agreed timeframe. The scope of the project entailed architectural design of the living/ dining room, removal of structural wall, replacing knob and tube, removal of lathe and plaster, new insulation, drywall, etc. Given that this was a 1920's 2 storey home there would inevitably be unknowns along the way. Gino and team stayed in contact with us regularly to address any changes to the plan - before proceeding with the work. Jason Hern

I'm writing to say how pleased I am with my new renovation. It was a major renovation and we were very nervous about the whole idea. All we heard were horror stories and quite frankly we put off renovating because we didn't know who to trust. Carick Home Improvements renovated a friends home and they highly recommended Geno of Carick Home Improvements. We decided to get some other prices. Carick was not the cheapest nevertheless we felt comfortable with Geno. I have to say it was a tough time going through a major renovation however in the end we could not be happier. Geno made sure that we were happy throughout the project and also ensured the neighbors were not bothered. I have learned how important communication is. We wanted our kitchen done and after a lot of debating about it, we decided to look further into it. Joel at Carick made some terrific suggestions and helped to make for a smooth renovation. Excellent people, highly recommend them.

Carick turned our unfinished boring basement into the most livable area of the home ! On time, on budget and better than expected results can't be beat. My family will spend many hours in a once forbidden zone. Many Thanks

We hired Carick in spring 2007 to completely gut and renovate our basement in our small 2 floor semi. The work consisted of demolishing/removing existing drywall and sub-floor (there wasn't much), replacing the existing skim-coat concrete floor with a proper to-code concrete floor, replacing existing tile sewer drains and installing new plumbing, new electrical/cable wiring, installing new drywall and flooring and a new staircase. Carick provided skilled, competent, and polite workers for each part of the project (their concrete crew was particularily exceptional). If we needed anything Joel was prompt to return our call. Cost over-runs were minimal and in any event were well worth it (replacing our root-clogged clay drains and upgrading to an oak staircase). Now approaching the 2 year anniversary of that renovation I can say that all of Carick's work has held up and we have not experienced any problems related to it. Our basement is our favourite place to hang out and it has thoroughly improved our house. I would recommend to anyone that they consider Carick for a home reno project.

This was a large job to us and after one and half weeks with the crew at Carick we saw it was entirely manageable, they made it look easy. We opted to have Carick arrange drawings and permits and that part of the job was more than worth while . If you don't want to add 40% to the final cost , avoid architects for this kind of work and let the Carick way guide you; the drawings were tight and approved without correction , the permits and drawings were delivered on time and exactly on budget . The crew was on time to work , pursued the project directly and answered all and any questions while showing sincere respect for our home and the areas we tried to keep clean during the work . They cleaned up at the end of each day without fail . The project , removing walls between rooms , was done complete on time and exactly on budget . Geno even through in some kitchen tiling work and a sink installation gratis .( I think he volunteered Tom for it , but the result was excellent) All the work was done to code and done to approved specifications as a matter of course and I could see the electrical crew would never consider taking a short cut for any reason. I Know for fact in some cases due to the age of the building , there was more material required for some stages and that Carick acquired it without discussion and never added any charges to the bill. If a client plans their project ,makes comprehensive notes and communicates all their needs to Geno and the people at Carick , this crew will see it gets done without unpleasant surprises. It is the job of the home owner to realise what is possible and what is beyond their resources and Carick will tell you well in advance what to expect at each stage . We were taken care of like we were the only project that mattered to Geno and they went the extra mile in each phase of our work . We could never have realised our dream space without their fine expertise.
