I never post reviews but felt the need to with David. He was fantastic. My project involved removing and installing a new glass tile backsplash in my condo kitchen. After contacting many tile contractors (from this site), I was frustrated by a lack of response. David was the opposite. He returned phone calls promptly, and gave honest and helpful advice. He did the job quickly and fantastically - even when we decided last minute to replace my old backsplash. He was very respectful and courteous and even put rollers under my stove so I could pull it out more easily! Overall, very happy with the backsplash and strongly recommend his services.

We had already received great service from David Utarid with the installation of our kitchen and hallway flooring and kitchen backsplash. We decided to hire him again for the next big renovation in our home.... the washroom. Again we were extremely satisfied with the service level he provided us. Our washroom was a difficult space due to the angled walls and sloped ceiling. Even with this challenge the end result was amazing. We are truly happy with the end result and feel that David Utarid went over and above to make us happy once again.

We chose David to re-tile our shower area and bathroom floor, after reading the positive reviews of his work on Homestars. Our experience with him couldn't have been better - David surpassed our expectations. Our bathroom was filled with surprises. Once the tiles were removed David discovered problems with our floor boards, lack of insulation on an exterior wall and poorly secured supports. He corrected all of these problems, taking great care to make sure the job was done right, even though it took longer to complete. Many times David went above and beyond the call of duty and even though the job is done now, he has continued to help us source a replacement part for our shower system! I cannot recommend David enough, not only is he skilled at what he does, he's also an absolute pleasure to be around! We would definitely work with David again :)

After using David Utarid in 2006 for the installation of our tile floor, we decided to use him again for the installation of our backsplash. Once again we were extremely satisfied with the quality of service and his dedication to do a great job. David Utarid took me to various tile shops to help me select a tile that would be perfect for our kitchen. He arranged to pick up the tile and installed it at our earliest convenience. It was done quickly, professionally and he took extra percaution to ensure that our newly installed granite countertops would not get damaged during his tile installation. Once again we were more than extremely satisfied with his work and have already hired him to do our bathroom renovation. Job well done David!

We highly recommend David Utarid. He recently tiled our front entranceway and it is beautiful. At our first meeting David clearly explained the process to us and how many days it would take. He was bang on. He suggested a larger-size tile - right again. We bought the tiles ourselves after getting David's advice on the quantity and he supplied everything else - the quarter round, grout and the marble surrounds. He visited several stores to get the right grout and quarter round. If you don't already know David is a one-man operation. He worked on our project from start to finish and didn't take projects inbetween. He has an excellent eye for detail (I'm picky) and it is evident he takes pride in his work. He suggested we break up the cement under the old tile so that we could have a level transition from the tile to the surrounding hardwood (which was more work for him) and he carried our new quarter round over to the hardwood so we could have a seamless baseboard from the new tile to the hardwood. The only thing we are disappointed about is that we are not ready for David to tile our backsplash! Thank you, David!

Overall our washroom and laundry room renovation went extremely well and we were exceptionally pleased with the end result. All of this was due to the extraordinary service level we received from David Utarid. He was on time, courteous, provided advice, knowledge, and at the end of everyday he would leave the workspace as if he wasn't even there. The quality of his workmanship was above and beyond our expectations! Thanks David for all your hard work, we sure are enjoying it!

David took the time to advise us on the various options available and choices of materials. He took great care in ensuring our satisfaction throughout the job and afterward. Our floor had several ridges and valleys (due to warped joists), and he did an amazing job at eliminating these noticeable flaws. David took great care to ensure our family could continue to 'function' in the house throughout the renovation. I would not hesitate to use his sevices again, or recommend him to a friend, as he is a perfectionist who was a pleasure to deal with.

We've had some unpleasant experiences with contractors in the past but David proved that a renovation job could get done on time, on budget and with a smile. David responded to our request for quotation promptly and professionally. We wanted to have our kitchen backsplash done and he provided sound advice and let us know what we needed to have the job done. We booked a date for him to do the installation and he showed up on time with all the necessary tools. David was very patient with our requests. We weren't sure exactly how we wanted the backsplash to look and he readily offered suggestions and made changes as they came up. We wanted to do a special mosaic pattern behind our stove and he figured something out using the pieces that we had purchased. We didn't have to go out and buy anything extra. He finished the job according to the timeline that he proposed and to the price he estimated. In the past, we've encountered contractors who changed their prices and haggled their way through projects but David was so easy to work with and very pleasant too. He was very respectful. Clearly there’s a reason for David’s consistently high reviews on this website and I am delighted to add my name to the obviously-lengthy list of his highly satisfied customers. David is a true craftsman, devoting all his attention to one job at a time and allowing time to do a quality job to his own exacting standards. Project costs and timelines were precisely as estimated. He also gave us invaluable advice on the selection of materials and even solved some existing plumbing problems along the way! In addition, David was easy to work with and have in our home. This project had the potential to be very disruptive to the family but David came up with a sequence of work that allowed us continued access to all areas of the house for the duration. He also kept the work area very clean and was unfailingly polite and pleasant to have around. Overall it was a pleasure to work with David and I would not hesitate to engage him again should the opportunity arise.

We used David's services to complete a backsplash of our kitchen. It was the finishing touch to a complete gut and renovation of our 90 years old house. In the process we've worked with 15 different contractors for the various stages of the renovation and I have to say that David was the pleasant exception. Much of the stigma that exists about contractors is warranted but not in the case of David. He completed the job on time and on budged and even cleaned up after the job. We had never seen that before. The backsplash in our kitchen looks phenomenal. David puts a lot of care and attention into his work and I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends.
