    Direct Energy Protection Plan

Motor on furnace was unserviceable, Direct Energy sent a repair person that night to check it, replaced it the next day. It was completely covered under Direct Energy's Protection Plan.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Wayne. We love hearing from our protection plan customers on the great service they received and the benefits of the plans.

    Energy star hot water heater

My wife had a water heater salesman knock on our door about three weeks ago. (National Home Service) the long and short of it is they sold my wife on a new Energy Star hot water heater to replace my 5 year old rental from Direct, which there was absolutely nothing wrong with.. They even lowered the monthly rental by about $1.25 per month and gave us a $100 credit on the gas bill. Sounds great except there was no rental agreement or term which made me very nervous as I am in the leasing and real estate business. I did a little checking and what was not explained to my wife is the the rental agreement is for the working life of the water heater which is on average 12 to 15 year or more. Further more there was a potential 2.7% to 3,0% rental increase annually for the life of the agreement. I/ we got buyers remorse very quickly (must happen within 10 days of signing the contract) and cancelled this rip off agreement. I called Direct Energy and explained what had happened and inquired about an energy star heater from them as our home is energy star rated and certified. Direct energy sent over a representative the same day and upgraded us to an energy star water heater at no cost to us and no increase in cost what so ever. The new water heater was installed 2 days later in less than an hour and a half. What started out an a fiasco and rip off disaster turned out to be a great money saving pleasant event. Thanks Direct Energy you have my business with pleasure. Great recovery experience thanks to Direct Energy PLM

    Furnace repair

Our two year old Trane furnace stopped working 4 days ago. Direct energy keeps repeating that they are trying to get the part from Toronto ..I didn't realize Direct energy was using horse and buggy to transport parts. Environmentally friendly yes, but perhaps not the best business practice. I would recommend using another service provider if it is heat you are looking for in a furnace.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Jim, Sorry to hear about this. Obviously getting customers hfurnaces working is a priority for us so we are working as quickly as possible to get the part from the manufacturer.

    Duct Cleaning

Contacted Direct Energy to come in and clean my ducts which have never been done before (home is only 3yrs old). The following week a Direct Energy technician arrived on the scheduled day and time to do the job. The tech was very professional and explained everything as he preformed his duties. The tech also inserted a camera into the ducts so I could see the before and after effects of the cleaning. The job was completed within the time frame quoted. I would recommend this service from Direct Energy anytime as it does make a positive difference in air quality. The only downside is that you have to dust the house after.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Chris. We often hear about discount duct cleaners being cheaper than Direct Energy but customers like you who have taken the time to write reviews like this show why our service is far superior. Great to hear that you're happy with the service.

    Duct Cleaning

On a very rainy Halloween morning, Paul showed up on time. Was polite, knowledgable and respectful of our home. By using the shoe covers, & floor mats, he immediately displayed courtesy towards our home. He was, thorough, & he explained all he did. Also. Friendly. Thanks :)

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for taking the time to let everyone know how great Paul was. We pride ourselves on the work of our technicians.

    Hot Water tank replacement

Old rental tank finally stopped working. The contractor and his helper from Direct Energy who were both very nice, did a great job, replacing the tank quickly quietly and efficiently.. no mess. I just think that at least once Direct Energy could have checked in with us before it failed as the tank was 24yrs old.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the great feedback Ken.

    Heating Protection Plan

I had a furnace issue and it was suggested by a technician that I sign up for a protection plan that would be more cost effective to me than repairs out of pocket. What a huge mistake! I paid in full. 18 months later I received a bill stating I owed a substantial amount of money for the protection plan. I was told their computer system was revamped and nothing had been issued as a result. The person I spoke to assured me that it was an error on their part, I owed nothing further, and I would be credited on the next bill. After 2 months (with no credit) I followed up and was treated as if that call had never happened. I was told they would not honour that agreement but I could instead pay out the cost of the repair and the rest would be removed. I disagreed as it was already confirmed that I owed nothing further. I have spent the better part of 2 years now getting bounced around from person to person. I have been told I would receive a call from someone within 24-48 hours only to be put back into the system with no resolution. I have been threatened and hung up on. I have been told the charges stem from things I never had. My attempts at resolution have been a nightmare. Representatives of this company have been thoroughly unprofessional, and as of this writing, the late fees continue to mount. I would prefer no other individual go through this ordeal and advise readers to stay away from this company.

    Service

I have the heating/cooling insurance plan with direct energy for maintenance that allows me once a year for maintenace. I called to book a schedule for winter maintenance, was told to call back at the end of November because my plan expires November, so I cannot book an appointment for December. I have to wait till the end of November and by the time I call back, December schedule will be full. So does this make sense? What's the point of having winter maintenance usually done before the winter months? DE management -please review this procedure, it does not make sense..

    Answer from pro:

Hi Evelyn. We will investigate this issue but it may be because you've had your maintenance in this yearly cycle. Please send us your contact info and we will have someone reach out to you.

    Plumbing System Inspection

I highly recommend Direct Energy's heating and cooling protection program. It provides me with a much needed piece of mind, and whenever needed, Direct Energy representatives come to the house and do a professional job. They are very knowledgeable and friendly as well.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Zeyad. We couldn't agree more!

    Heating Protection Plan

My Heating went out Saturday Morning. I called Direct Energy right away, and they said the earliest available appointment was on Monday afternoon. Apparently they don't have enough technicians, and the supervisor said there was nothing they could do about it. So much for the "same-day service" that was advertised on their website and over the phone. I have a elderly grandmother that lives with me and have plans to move her out to a hotel tonight. I find it incredible they don't keep their promises.

    Answer from pro:

Hello S. Pak. It looks like we had availability and enough technicians this weekend, can you please send us your information so we can investigate.
