    Kitchen & Condo Renovation

    We came upon Fine Finishes by referral, and after meeting with a couple of other designers, decided to proceed with a condo renovation that we had Andrea design and manage. Andrea's aesthetic, eye for detail, and pragmatic approach was evident in that first meeting, where she quickly identified things we could do to bring in more light, make rooms feel more spacious and flow better, while asking lots of questions to uncover what things were most important to us. Core to our project was a new kitchen and replacement of the original hardwood floor throughout the condo, with all the associated electrical, plumbing, plastering and paining that goes with that, and a few other minor upgrades in the rest of the unit. We love the layout and look of our new kitchen. With her design, Andrea opened up our tiny galley kitchen, giving us more storage and work areas, without making any structural changes. She also made paint selection a breeze, which is something I've always struggled with and we love the result in every room. Relying on the contractors and skilled trades recommended by Andrea and managed by Nelson was an important part of the success of this work, as all were highly skilled, reliable, dedicated and could be depended on to deal with anything that arose (our building dates back to the 1930's so renovations always have some unforeseen challenges). We are immensely pleased with the design, quality and workmanship of the skilled trades employed, and our relationship with everyone involved.

They are true professionals and an integral part of our company. The kitchen was truly the biggest transformation. Not sure how you managed all those years and with so little counter space! Now, not only do you have more storage and almost double the counter space, the two of you can actually be in the kitchen at the same time cooking together without bumping into each other.     Interior design

    Andrea was amazing and outstanding! She started the project before the renovation and helped us to decide almost everything, space changing, kitchen cabinetry/countertop, tiles, floor, paining, furniture and its placement, doors, handles.... She cares about everything no matter how tiny it is. She is professional, easy to reach, good at communication and very patient. What's more impressive is that she designed the our home which suits us the best! She even thought about the hanger rack for our two kids! Now we've been living at our new home for 3 weeks, our kids are happy with cleaning up their stuff because it's easy for them to do. Meanwhile, we realize that everything we think is beautiful, useful and reasonable is suggested by Andrea! We are so lucky to meet her and appreciate her for all the useful advises which make our home cozy, gorgeous and functional.

    Kitchen Renovation

    We engaged Fine Finishes to handle all aspects of our kitchen renovation with the exception of the cabinetry. The project finished on time and on budget. In particular, their project management went very smoothly. The few "wrinkles" that arose were handled promptly and well. We would gladly recommend them to others, and we will be using them for future projects.

    Colour Consultant

    I'm in the process of painting both the exterior and interior of my home. Andrea, the owner, came to my house and we went through each room. She made some excellent colour suggestions which I fully intend to implement. She was very professional and patient. I also appreciated her honesty ... when I suggested something she didn't think would work, she told me. I would be happy to recommend Andrea as a colour consultant to my friends.

    House decorating

    Provided guidance and recommendations related to selection and purchase of furniture, pictures, drapery and carpets for a 2 bedroom house condo unit in Toronto. There was also some custom cabinetry required which Andrea had a really great source. This project started with very little existing furniture so started pretty much from a clean slate. Andrea helped guide me in selecting proper colours and furniture styles considering the existing room features and my lifestyle. I’m very pleased with the result.

    Interior House Painting

    Andrea is a true consummate professional with a keen eye for detail, creativity, colour and design. Andrea's commitment and dedication to her clients, and to her profession, are outstanding. She is very patient, kind and thorough. Andrea listens to what her clients are envisioning for their home and always explains what she is recommending and why... the rationale to her suggestions. Even though every room has now been painted in different colours, there is lovely flow, symmetry and balance throughout our entire home. Each of our rooms flows into the next. Andrea is truly a gift to the interior design and colour world.

    Condo turn key design package

    Andrea and her team were outstanding. Within 30 days of moving in it felt like home. She listened, thoughtfully provided her expertise and garnered all the resources to bring together a beautiful home that I love and reflects me. It was fun and relatively speaking effortless. I am just thrilled and so grateful for her advice, fabulous taste, and project skills. The best part she was an absolute pleasure to partner with.

    Design and major condo renovation

    We selected Andrea and Fine Finishes after interviewing 12 designers to help us with our major condo renovation. We selected her because she was really curious and interested in what we wanted and liked, and because she was able to provide both design and renovation services. We are thrilled with our choice, and have since recommended Andrea to friends and family, who are equally as satisfied. We have redone literally every part of our condo, with Andrea acting as designer, general contractor, and project manager. We love everything and very much appreciate how Andrea has often guided us towards a more cost effective, comfortable, or practical design or approach than we might have picked on our own. We also love the trades Andrea works with--they are all talented and lovely humans who treat our home with respect, and take good care of our old, renovation-stressed pooch. Large-scale renovations are never trouble-free, and what I like most about Andrea and the Fine Finishes team is that they work together to quickly address any problems that might arise. I would give them my highest recommendation.

    Home Renovation

    We asked Andrea to come in for a colour consult for some major renovations we were doing in our newly purchased (but not new) home. At the first meeting, we just wanted to see how to make colour work on the completely open concept ground floor where the focus would a multicolour chandelier. It soon became apparent that we needed Andrea's help with the powder room and two washroom tile choices and paint colours and paint and flooring colours for the whole house. She was also instrumental in the kitchen and cabinet design and choices and colour once we found the perfect counter (with her help of course!). This turned out to be a large renovation and we couldn't have done it without Andrea who not only provided excellent advice and great ideas but suggested things we didn't think about. She took into consideration our design preferences and choices and worked with them. She made herself available and provided advice over the phone, by email and at supplier's locations. She offered to help source products once the renovation was complete as well. If you need a little bit of guidance, or major hand-holding, colour or design help, overall direction or pointed advice and suggestions, small or big, Andrea Colman is the lady for you!! Thank you, Andrea!!

Although you new home isn't all that old, the bathrooms did look a bit tired. The combination tiles we sourced gave your ensuite an air of sophistication, the main bath a more contemporary feel and the powder room elegance.     Colour consultation and design advice

    I see from past glowing reviews of Andrea’s work that many of us who have reached out to her did so because our projects were stalled due to a lack of confidence in our colour choices. After spending a couple of hours with Andrea last week, our enthusiasm for our kitchen upgrade has been renewed and we are back on track. Andrea’s keen eye for colour and design resulted in a beautiful colour palette. She was so collaborative that we feel that the palette was chosen with us, rather than for us. By the time she left, we had colours for a bedroom, main bathroom and our exterior as well. With some newfound confidence, we took our paint chips to a flooring store she recommended, armed with the pattern name of a flooring she wanted us to check out. We returned home with 3 samples, chosen with the help of the sales rep, that all looked great under the flooring store lighting. Sure enough, once laid out on our kitchen floor, Andrea’s choice was clearly the best in our space. Aside from colour advice, Andrea had various suggestions as to how to make improvements that would have impact, but still be budget friendly, and has recommended suppliers and trades. Lastly, she tactfully steered us away from a few ideas that looked great in magazines but, for reasons she explained, would not work in our kitchen. We are very much looking forward to working with her in future and recommend her without reservation.
