    Repairs/Maintenance of gas fireplaces

The fireplace would not come on although the pilot light was on. The technician quickly solved that problem and then did a thorough job of cleaning the fireplace and the glass. He reviewed for us how to adjust the controls for the flame and the heat. He was careful not to get any dirt or ashes on the surrounding floor area. He did all this in one hour.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Ron for your review and for choosing Gas Fix to service your Majestic fireplace. In many circumstances when the fireplace won't come on, it just needs some TLC to make it happy again. Over the years, there can be dust, debris or spiderwebs that cause problems. The thorough cleaning that Gas Fix provides can resolve many of those issues. We vacuum out the fireplace and also use an air compressor to get to those spaces that vacuum cannot. We also test the various components as required. Should you ever require our services in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. ~ Jason, Office Manager ~

    Bbq repair and service

Great people to deal with - honest, on time & efficient. They were very neat, cleaned up after completed the repair - would certainly not hesitate in recommending Scott and his team - thanks for all your help! Regards Max DiFelice

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Max for contacting Gas Fix to service your BBQ. As we specialize primarily in gas fireplaces and pool heaters, we can also service other gas appliances such as furnaces, water heaters and BBQ's. Though we carry parts for fireplaces and pool heaters, we do carry some parts for BBQ's, specifically the Twin Eagles BBQ. We did have some of the parts required for the repair and as this was an extensive repair, we were able to order in the balance of the parts for the Twin Eagles BBQ. We also provide warranty services for Twin Eagles so you are getting someone who is both skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to Twin Eagles BBQs. Again, thank you for choosing Gas Fix. Should you have any issues in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. ~ Jason, Office Manager ~

    Gas fireplace

Excellent, courteous, expert service. Arrived promptly, at the time arranged. Completed the work in reasonable time, and had all parts with him, even though ours is far from being a new model of fireplace. Highly recommended.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Jill for calling Gas Fix and having our technician Dwayne out to service your Superior gas fireplace. The unit required a new ON/OFF switch which we had on the vehicle. We have over a dozen different ON/Off switches and carry over 300+ of the most common fireplace (and pool heater) parts on the service vehicles. Thank you for your recommendation! Should you require our services in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us! ~ Jason, Office Manager ~

    gas fireplace repair

Excellent service, Scott was knowledgeable, professional and I would definitely recommend this company. We are enjoying our fireplace again. Scott had all the parts he needed, so the job was completed same day.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Tina for calling Gas Fix and having Scott out to service your Montigo gas fireplace. One of things that separates Gas Fix from other contractors is that we carry over 300+ parts on the service vehicles for both pool heaters and gas fireplaces. When parts are required to complete a repair, we have them on the vehicle over 97% of the time. In this case, we had all the components of the pilot assembly on our vehicle so we could complete the repair that same day. Unfortunately, most other contractors don't have the parts on their vehicle or will tell you it's no longer available so they can sell you a $5000 fireplace. We're not that contractor. We can take care of our customers the very same day. Should you require any service in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. ~ Jason, Office Manager ~

    Amazing Service!!!

I was AMAZED at the incredible service that Gasfix provided our family. They came and installed a new gas fireplace. The product and the service was excellent. - I was hosting a party the evening it was to be installed, and unfortunately the glass (that was needed for the front of the fireplace) was the wrong size, but Scott went out of his way, to fix the problem and was back within a few hours with the right size, just in time for my party. We've had so many compliments on it and have been enjoying it almost daily. What I also wanted to mention, was how thorough Scott was on making sure our fireplace was safe (no gas leaking, Co2 etc.). Before Gasfix, I had another comapny in to check on the old log set. He basically just turned it on, and when I asked him about the smell, he said it was because we had not turned the fireplace on in a long time (this was the first time we started it, since moving in, as it's an open fireplace and our kids were little). Well I listened to my gut and called another company (GasFix). I'm sure glad I did. GasFix was able to find a leak in the old fireplace, and informed me that the chimney was the wrong size, and that we needed to install glass to make it safe for our family. I was shocked that the other company walked in, and tested nothing... Needless to say, I'm very thankful for Scott and the team at GasFIx. So, as you know we ordered a new log set and had glass installed (that covers only the top part) and now the family and I, and even our dog love it! As a side note, GasFix has also helped with us with our pool heater as well :). Amazing service!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Amy for trusting your gut and for calling Gas Fix for a second opinion. As we specialize in the repair and maintenance of gas fireplaces and pool heaters, our technicians provide a superior service than the other contractors that are out there. So many contractors just light the pilot and call that a working, safe fireplace. At a bare minimal, especially when a customer doesn't want to have the fireplace cleaned, we always check the safety on the gas valve, we always do a draft test on the ventilation and we always do a carbon monoxide test. We take your family's safety seriously! As noted, Scott was able to find issues with the prior fireplace such as the gas leak and issue with the chimney. We took a deposit for the new Peterson fireplace on a Monday and had it installed by the Thursday of that week. We also did everything we could to make sure everything was a go for your party and we are very pleased that everything was a complete success and everyone in the family is enjoying the fireplace. We also appreciate that you call us to service the Hayward pool heater as well. Whenever you need service for the fireplace or pool heater, please do not hesitate to contact us! Again, thank you for choosing Gas Fix! ~ Jason, Office Manager ~

    Gas Fireplace Burner & Thermostat

This was my first experience with Gasfix! The service man , Dwayne Hamilton was amazing. Professional, knowledgeable, courteous, neat clean and thorough! This is an 18 year old gas fireplace that looks and works better than before with the new burner and thermostat! Should enjoy this for many years to come! Thank you, a definite recommend!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for contacting Gas Fix to have Dwayne service your fireplace. We replaced the thermostat on the initial service call and had to order the burner from our supplier. We were able to turn this around in about a week to get that installed and the unit working as it is. Should you have any issues in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. ~ Jason ~

    Gas Fireplace

When we moved into our unit 6 years ago the fireplace did not work. After 2 or 3 visits from service people we were told that the unit had to be total replaced $4000 -$5000. One last call to Gas Fix. We were told they had the parts and repaired the fireplace. Our pilot light went out serval day ago, called Gas Fix. They arrived totally cleaned the unit, lite the pilot and we were all good to go. Scott was friendly and knowledgeable. He also cleaned up after himself. Great Job

    Answer from pro:

Thank you James for your review and having Gas Fix technicians out to service your Montigo (Canadian Heating Products) fireplace. It was back in March 2012 when we originally serviced the unit. The mercury flame switch (MFS) had failed. When the MFS fails, most other contractors want to tell you it cannot be fixed and that you need a new fireplace over $4000+. We know that is not true. When that switch fails, the repair is replacing the gas valve and pilot assembly. It's because we want to be able to take care of our customers that same day, our technicians carry over 300+ of the most common parts on their vehicles. We had the parts and converted the MFS that same day. In October 2013, we were back to install two fans for the unit and a heat sensor. Both Dwayne, who did the original repairs in 2012 and 2013, and Scott have all these parts on their service vehicles. Now, most future repairs will most likely be limited to maintenance as was the case when Scott was there on December 10. Thank you again for using us over the years. Should you require any service in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. ~ Jason - Office Manager at Gas Fix (and former accountant for your complex) ~

service 2 gas fireplaces which had pilot lights turned off for a few years

We have 2 gas fireplaces. Both pilot lights have been turned off for 4 years due to us going South in the Winter months. When we tried to turn the main fireplace one we had problems (we did not try the basement one) Finally I called Gasfix Repairs (my neighbours have the same main floor fireplace and have had to 2 fireplace companies come in only to say they need to replace the entire unit at $5,000 plus) and Mr. Dwayne Hamilton arrived yesterday. Very professional he had all the replacement parts for the main fireplace which was rusted out etc etc and my wall switch also was not working properly. He cleaned everything all the glass replaced my little ambers etc etc and it works like a charm and looks new. So that was the expensive repair. Lucky the basement fireplace was fine the pilot came on but it was VERY dirty inside and spider webs etc again he cleaned everything polished it all up and it works great and looks new. We are very very happy with his service. I have recommended and given his business card to my neighbour this morning who will be calling Gasfix Repair early next week. I told her to ask for Dwayne Hamilton, he has been doing this gas repairs for 30 years and carries everything he needs in his truck. We are very happy customers and will get our main floor fireplace services every fall and the basement every two as it is seldom used. But we will never turn off the pilot lights again as he explained what that does to the burner unit pilot light etc. Thank you Dwayne.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Mrs. C for calling Gas Fix and having Dwayne there to service the Majestic and FPI gas fireplaces. As you summarized so well, we do a thorough cleaning to the unit and glass as well carrying the parts on our vehicles so when there is a part failure, we can still take care of you that very same day. Though we don't carry all parts, we do carry over 300+ of the most common fireplace parts on the service vehicles and had the pilot assembly, thermocouple, thermopile, electrode, tubing and ON/OFF switch required to repair the unit. It's unfortunate that other contractors are such opportunists trying to upsell a new fireplace but I suspect that is because they are not as knowledgeable as our technicians when it comes to repairs. Though it was an expensive repair, it is much more cost effective than replacing the entire unit at $5000+. Thank you again for writing this review and recommending us to your neighbour. We look forward to hearing from you in the future. ~ Jason - Office Manager at Gas Fix ~

Replaced an old mercury flame switch

I've been dealing with Gasfix since I first moved into this home 9 years ago and they have always been professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Usually deal with Scott or Dwayne. This time Scott came out because our gas fireplace had an old mercury switch that finally died which means among other things, the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. A few years ago I would have needed to replace the entire fireplace but during a regular service call a year or so ago Dwayne told me there was an upgrade kit now available. Scott came out and installed the new kit and the fireplace is working again just in time for the cold months. Thanks as always Scott !

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Marc for contacting Gas Fix and being a customer for nine years. We appreciate the trust and faith that you have in us to service your fireplace. Other contractors will tell you that you need a new fireplace. The staff at Gas Fix knows that this is not true and both Dwayne and Scott have the parts on their service vehicles for a mercury flame switch conversion. Essentially, the fireplace operating system is completely replaced during the conversion. You get a new gas valve and a new pilot assembly which includes the electrode, thermocouple and thermopile. Though it is a major repair, it is definitely better than replacing the entire unit when that's not required. Now that the mercury flame switch has been converted to the new system, you will have minimal issues in the future. Whenever your Heatilator fireplace needs service, please do not hesitate to contact us!! ~ Jason ~

    Fast, friendly, professional

We moved into a new home that had a gas fireplace that had been neglected and wasn't working. Scott showed up on time, fixed it up, cleaned it up, and had it running beautifully in no time. Thank you!
